The Mega-Cave Shooter Post, because they're totally awesome and sweet

You need to get your chain meter into the red with the rapid shot, then you quickly kill some enemies with the laser to fill your multiplier. Then, while you have zero chain meter, use your laser to cash in on high scoring areas. That's the gist of it.

You don't always want to cash in on large enemies; it's usually best to save it for a spot where you can fill the screen up with bullets, and the cancel them all at once. Prime examples being the flying crabs on stage 2, and the hives/lanterns on stage 3.

No idea about the gold numbers though.
Cool. I'll try that out.

Here's an image showing the gold numbers. Doesn't seem to come up all that often. Probably nothing to worry about.

Yay, I beat Battle Bakraid (normal course) today! My final score was rubbish at only 3,497,660, but I'm terrible at collecting those medals. At any rate this game is really fun. Oh and I finally beat a shmup with a flying pancake type ship. d(^_^)b

I always considered those old 8ing shmups out of reach, but this one really wasn't too tough.

I really love the bomb system in this one, where you pick up several bomb fragments to create a new bomb. Very neat.

I think I'll come back to this game in a bit. Maybe I'll even challenge the advanced course one day.
Nice! Bakraid was one of my first clears. Really fun game.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
I would be shocked if Dodonpachi was hidden in the game... it's gotta just be a thing on the main menu that you don't have to unlock. I'd think Cave is smart enough to realize that this game will sell way more copies if they don't pull any bullshit with Dodonpachi.

This is really cool of RSG/Cave:

To celebrate the forthcoming release of DoDonPachi Resurrection, CAVE and Rising Star Games have decided to give PAL CAVE fans an opportunity to become 'officially recognised' by CAVE as the best Deathsmiles players in the PAL region.

The top five players on the Deathsmiles PAL leaderboard on 5 November 2011 will each receive a framed certificate signed by CAVE proclaiming them as such.

Good luck!

That's vanilla 360 mode. EX off, no continues.

You have to play in Score Attack mode to record scores on the leaderboard, correct?

Is this open to players outside Europe who have the PAL version for whatever reason?

hmmm....

Let's say Europe, Australia and New Zealand, because they are the territories we are licensed to thrill

There are new updates for iOS Deathsmiles, Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu + Espgaluda II.

Haven't tried it yet, but I assume it lets you play Deathsmiles on iOS5, which is nice :p

Futari Maniac in a nutshell:

1. The stage 2 boss always kills me at these two difficult patterns
2. "I'll make sure next time to bomb in those two trouble areas"
3. Enters stage 2 boss fight with 3 lives and 4 bombs
4. "I'm going to die on this part if I don't bomb, remember to bomb at the right time"
5. Tries to dodge difficult part
6. Dies
7. FUUUUUUUUUUUU
8. Second difficult part comes up
9. "Well now I can't bomb, I gotta make up for that life that I lost"
10. Dies again
11. FUUUUUUUUUUUU
12. Rage ensues
13. Loses last life carelessly
14. Repeat from step 2

Found an arcade of DOdopachi Black Label where the credit is 20 cents. WIN.
My school had a mushihimesama cabinet in the arcade. Credits were only a quarter. I always got shot down at the giant bug tank thing. Bullets are fast in that game. >_>

didn't want to post in the iPhone/iPad thread, so I will do here:

10:56 < cave_world_en> Finally, CAVE bullet hell on Android! Espgaluda II and Dodonpachi Resurrection release in Japan and
Korea this October! http://t.co/tVXGcf9z
10:58 < cave_world_en> [10:57:16] For international Android users, we are planning releases in North America, Europe and more,
so please stay tuned. http://t.co/tVXGcf9z

I 1cc'd Mushihimesama original mode today. Final Score 8,633,846.

I almost beat the last boss without dying. Never done that on a Cave game before. I had her down to 10% when I lost a life. I was so close!!

This is a pretty easy game as far as Cave games go. Much easier than Mushi Futari 1.5. Stage 3 in Mushi Futari feels like a remake of Stage 5 from Mushihimesama, yet Mushi Futari's Stage 3 is harder than Mushihimesama's Stage 5. >_>

It was a fun distraction, now back to sweet frustration of Futari BL maniac.

So what Cave games are available on a PAL 360 atm (either xbla or retail) and whats coming to the 360???
Region Free Imports: (Region free in the U.S., pretty sure they're region free in Europe as well)
Mushihimesama Futari 1.5
Espgaluda II (standard edition only, special edition is region locked)
Pink Sweets/Muchi Muchi Pork Double Pack

Deathsmiles is available at retail.
DoDonPachi Resurrection will be at retail in a few weeks.

Which game is the game to get on Ipad between DDP Resurrection and Espagaluda II?

Deciding on which to buy as my first Cave game

To play on an iPad? The clear choice is Espgaulda II HD. Simply because DDP Resurrction is built for iPhone and doesn't "properly" scale on an iPad. You can increase the resolution of DDP and run the iPhone app on an iPad, but I think it looks terrible.

Espgaluda II HD made specifically for iPad and requires an iPad 2.

I would say DDP. (Both are awesome though.) DDP is closer to the traditional Cave formula (fly fast, shoot a lot of dudes), while ESPGaluda II throws in all sorts of unique systems to keep players on their toes (shields, awakening, absorbing bullets, etc). If you're going to pick the "half" versions, I'll always suggest the Arcade variants. But again, it's not like the other versions are horrible or anything.

All of the above are iPhone versions, and I play them on my iPad with no problems. If you want a native iPad versions, and have the required 2, Reluctant-Hero is correct, ESPGaluda II HD is the only native iPad game to date.

Also, Deathsmiles iPhone mode is cool. You collect equipment and accessories to make your girl stronger, take less damage, etc. It's a shooter RPG!

The price for the day 1 Black Label dlc for ddp:resurrection will be 800msp. Which is okay, I paid 1200msp for MFBL.
Cool. I was getting ready to reach into my wallet for some additional allards.

Speaking of which, can I use U.S. microsoft points, or do I need to get a card from Europe?

Anyone have a link to a guide for making a UK XBL account?

just make an e-mail account (like yahoo) with an UK address (like an embassy or something like that) and use this e-mail account to sign for a Xbox live account on xbox.com.

Risingstar Games is bringing Akai Katana Shin over to PAL territories. Crossing my fingers for you, americans.
Good ol' Rising Star. Sacrificing their profit margins for the common good.

I mean, are they making any money on these sorts of games? I wouldn't have played Arcana Heart 3, the No More Heroes series or Deathsmiles if they hadn't released them in the UK, but one wonders how they're staying solvent releasing niche games like this.

Especially when you look at their released games list on their website. Is Harvest Moon really that popular?

They definitely made profit with deathsmiles. DS was number 2 or something in the preorder charts at least in the uk (And many germans buy their games in the uk, too). Also Arcana Heart 3 was published by Zen United (Blazblue). RSG also published Deadly Premonition which became a hit over here.

Woo, just had a great run in Futari 1.5 Maniac:

1.5 - X360 - Maniac - Reco
694,993,138 - ALL (Lx2) - Normal

No missed up to Larsa. The fight went pretty poorly, but them's the breaks I guess. I don't think I'll be able to do much better than that, unless I learn more advanced strategies. Very happy with that score though, and the replay's up on the leaderboards if anyone wants to check it out (ranked #6).

Oddly enough, seems that we're both wrong on AH3. I've looked on both the box of the UK version and in the manual (what there is of it) right in front of me, and Zen United are listed as the producers only. PQube (whoever they are) are the publishers.

...

Who the hell are PQube?

Anyway, enough with the off-topic. Deathsmiles was awesome, DDP Resurrection will be even more awesome, and we already know that AKS will be awesome, so I guess that makes RSG awesome by default, yeah?

You should try the real deal and jump on the 360 releases. There's no coming back after that.
