It's nice that they're fixing the bad art sprinkled around the show. Are there any comments on if the show actually looks HD? Or if it just looks 480p upscaled to 720p? That's the main difference that would get me to rewatch the show.

They're not "fixing bad art" though. They're just selectively reanimating scenes which just look too terrible after the HD process, or scenes which absolutely cannot be cropped to look good no matter what.

Here's what they're doing: They are taking the original SD 4:3 show materials, and then they are recompositing it in 1080p 16:9. This means they are taking what are generally low resolution original assets (character overlays, backgrounds, CG effects, etc) and putting together the same show, except in 16:9 and in 1080p. This means that sometimes, you end up with a super cropped unwatchable scene. Not just upscaled, but unwatchable. So when this happens, they pony up some cash to their 2 cents an hour animators to redo the scene in full HD widescreen.

In terms of actual end result, it ends up looking like a mix between a new average HD TV anime, an upscaled early 2000s digital anime, and a blurry super upscaled cropped mess. All 3 types of scenes exists throughout the episodes so far. You know what other show looks like this, and was produced in the exact same way?
The Eureka 7 movie.

Have you guys listened to the Gundam Tribute cd from Lantis? I've been going through the tracks on it and while there's not a huge difference in the songs, it's some nice improvements IMO. Came out in 2009, but I'm quite addicted. The songs "Eternal Wind" and "GranRodeo" especially are pretty awesome.

Oh wow 10 years later and the thought crosses my mind

Well, according to the Gundam Wiki, they are based on the Japanese Oni Brothers Fuujin and Raijin. This makes sense since not only does Mercurius have thunder drums, but Vayeate has a fan on his back. The SD Gundam series also includes them and mentions them being the Gods of Thunder and Wind, so I guess it wasn't just me. :)

If I ever buy a Wing-series model, I'd totally want these two.

Well AGE continues to be not good and boring. And it's not even bad enough to be entertaining. But at least those normal suits sure look ridiculous.

Every single one of those suits was ridiculous and distracting, and just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, they show the red haired kid wearing one.

What do you guys think are the chances they'll re-release the wing MGs with these things?

It's Bandai so yeah I guess it's 100%

The sandrock looks a little awkward but eh, I guess it's ok.

That heavyarms got turned into Leopard with the tracks lol.

Just saw the newest episode of AGE.

Aw yeah, time to write some Spallow X Elmeda slash fanfiction.

Also what a stupid episode. That guy stopped all the momentum of a hugeass ship by shooting it like three times. And then no one bothered to care about it anymore.

God, the villains are so fucking stupid in AGE. "GRRRRR look at the inferior Earthlings-- oh, they destroyed our big ass dimension-warping carrier ship? LOL who cares, they're still inferior. GRRRR! Prep the Lalah expy we kidnapped for her not-cliche-at-all predestined battle with the hero kid, that'll show them LOL"

At this point, the rumours about the UE being
some sort of time travelling Divine Crusaders/Celestial Being wannabes
start making sense, if only because the UE are just as retarded as both of those.

So I guess with Bandai not releasing any new DVD/Blu sets in North America that means we'll never see the Endless Waltz Blu Ray release? =(

Also, are the planned 00 Anime Legends sets still going to be released?

regarding AGE, Now that we've seen older Flit
what are the odds of Hendrick Bruzar actually being an even older Flit who travelled back in time?

Finally finished Wing...the last 10 or so episodes, where everyone finally stopped whining and joined up together, was pretty good, although the ending was too sudden...but I guess, to be fair, Turn A ended rather abruptly as well. It was definitely pretty weak though all around, especially with how Zero was passed around the middle of the series as well as all the side switching with the bad guys, so I can see why people regard it as one of the weaker entries...

Now I'm watching 0079 and, well, I really like it. The animation, old as it is, has a lot more "love" put into it compared to Wing imo, and the characters are pretty enjoyable. And as corny as it is, I rather like the dub voices, especially Amuro, Char, Bright, Ral, and Kai. About episode 30, so I'm almost done with it.

Also watching 00 on the side, and so far, at episode 3, it reminds me of a less frantic Wing. I'm guessing the Saji character is basically the male version of Relena, more or less? He's such a punchable guy, but I kind of like him for that haha. The first episode, first scene, already exceeded Wing in my opinion since they actually showed why Setsuna, like Heero, is so stoic and distant, and it was pretty violent and effective too. Wing's pretty tame, looking back, since you never see any humans die really...it's just Leo after Leo being blown up.

Huh, best episode of AGE yet (14). Not that it's saying much, but the animation and action was definitely much further than what's been shown.
The Yurin/Lalah parallel happened like pretty much everyone saw coming and it was neat seeing AGE Titus go out like that, considering I was wondering if it was ever going to come back.

So, huh, I read Episode Zero of Wing and now I have to say
Trowa getting amnesia in Wing means that, effectively, he had double-amnesia. Although, in a way, him ending up with his sister Catherine means that his second amnesia basically course-corrected the previous amnesia...

With a fraction of the emotional impact
because Desil doesn't give a fuck about Yurin

But yay mobile armor!

I have to say, my favorite part about UC0079 is the funky porn music they use as background music. Then again, I liked Turn A's OST a lot too (DAT GUIN LINEFORD LIMO!), and Wing, while a bit downplayed, had some cool themes as well such as the title music that bled into the opening scenes.

Gallant Char is such an awesome theme...didn't realize it was his theme till I looked it up on Youtube, though.

So I've been reading the translated Gundam Wing Endless Waltz Glory of Losers(long winded much?)

Man I'd really be for a re-done/retelling version of Wing with Hajime Katoki's mech designs. fully payload Heavy Arms made me go hhhnnnnggg.

I kinda agree with this.

I've always been a fan of Katoki's Designs. That said if Frozen Teardrop ever did get some animation (not going to happen) with the amount of flash backs we would probably finally get to see the Katoki design's animated.

They said that about Unicorn.

Saji is worse, much worse.

And Marina is MUCH worse than he is. She had literally no purpose whatsoever, throughout the entirety of the series AND the movie, other than to be rescued by Setsuderp. She was a total waste of pixel fillrate.

In fact, Watch Da Birdie? I'd strongly suggest just watching the first 25 episodes and calling it a day. Unless you enjoy wasting money/self-harm/killing brain cells, you should try to convince yourself that there is no Season 2 or A Wakening. You know, like some people forget traumatic memories of abuse or torture to protect their fragile sanity. Or the reverse of PTSD. Yeah, that.

In other news, AGE 14 went exactly as expected, right down to
the Yurin/Lalah expy and Flit X-Rounding up, defeating and then, for some inexplicable reason, sparing that Desil brat.
I liked how
Titus bowed out with a bang,
though.

But I was expecting this ep to be the last in this arc? So the new arc begins in ep 16 now. I wonder if the new protag will complain that
his name is a man's name, and that he's a man?
