Thing I find the weirdest about this is Wing actually went up at the mid point and not down.

Still though, it does look alot better when you just compare sheer numbers. 2k Vs 0ver 50K let alond 150K.

Looks like most people agree with me, seeing how AGE is very specifically being blacklisted by anyone who actually spends money on Gundam.

There have been rumors of AGE getting cut short all week now actually. Hino even responded to it on his twitter denying it, saying they are bullshit rumors. But of course, the man can't be trusted because right after that he went on to shill his crappy show on twitter as well, telling all "fans" that each generation of AGE is different, and now that AGE-3 is starting, all Inazuma fans should tune in because they're going to like it.

This is where I'm coming from.

Given I'm more of a AU kinda guy anyway I don't mind if it's UC/AC/AW/CE/AD so long as it has decent art and some cool Gundam designs.

Sadly AGE doesn't have these and honestly it's character art is the worst out of any Gundam series period to me and I hate it so much I refuse to buy or watch the show.

Given people love to hate on ZZ for being the wackiest of UC stories, people giving UC a hard time only works better for me and gives me hope I might like it. My problem with most AU Gundam series is that they tend to have absolute dogshit mecha apart from the title gundams.

Wing is an exception to this (Leo, Taurus, Tallgeese, and Serpent were awesome), and so was Gundam 00 S1 (Flag, Hellion, and Tierran); but most of the time non-gundam suits are ugly masses of sharp angles and zero creative design (looking at you AGE, 00 S2, and Seed).

00 Is pretty similar to Gundam Wing in many regards. The Gundams in Wing are even more overpowered.

Well they are for the first 35 or so Episodes and then Wing Gundam Zero is pretty much a god. That said Wing Zero isn't even close to the HAXZORSZ that is OO Raiser in Trans AM.

Yes and no. If that is the box set then while it did as well as G Gundam volume 1 G still did better because of being viable to seperate into three Sets.

That said, X has had a growth in popularity in the last few years. They had that light novel sequel that did well and X and DX along with Tiffa and Garrod are showing up more and more often lately.

It won't be nearly as blatant if they do, even less so if they ever go through with Origins.

As it is they really need to do what they did with G and take a whole new direction. SEED used UC, OO was similar with Wing and AGE tried to take elements of all of them and performed the worst yet.

Well Wing soft of had this.

It was refreshing that not only was Heero trained in both assassination but also heavily trained on how to pilot the Gundam. It was also great how he was a killer and had the chance to be a really original character as far as Gundam leads god, sadly this all died after Eps 3 and he became one of the worst Gundam leads.

Still though, at least Wing dedicated time showing people got trained which was very nice, and I would like to see that taken even further with a pilot needing to learn in a GM/Leo/Zaku and actually fail a few times before getting Wing/Impluse/Strike and ripping shit up with them.

I mean, certainly Wing has aged but the animation quality was still pretty decent for it's time and it shouldn't be that hard to watch unless nonwidescreen just kills you.

Just to be a peadant, wasn't 00 budgeted as 2 separate series or something like that? Technically, the first season would check off two of your qualifiers.

And if AGE is really like that, well, I'm starting to feel thankful that I had to hold off on it because of my backlog of shows.

What, in a new show with a marketing push? Nah, you gotta save that stuff for the side stories; the main shows have to have a milquetoast protagonist, so...so that...reasons.

Seriously though, if you're waiting for an animated show, you'd be better off hoping that whoever decides what gets animated either
a) calls in a director with a more grounded approach for an original show, or
b) settles the copyright issue with Model Graphix and commissions an adaptation of Gundam Sentinel.
And I don't even know if Sentinel is all that great as a book, since I had it read to me by someone who (at the time) had a very loose grasp on Japanese, storybook style. But she stressed that Ryu, the protagonist, was ass at piloting in the beginning, and that stuck with me. Well, that and piss-stained pilot suits.

I don't even know why I'm writing about this with any sense of authority; I don't know how anime studios work.

Yeah, I think all I would really like for the next TV gundam is for it not to be a remake/rehash of an older Gundam. It's been a long time since we've had an original gundam story:

1999 = Turn A, ORIGINAL YAY
Early 2000s = SEED, sort of 0079 rehash.
Later 2000s = SEED DESTINY, sort of a Zeta remake.
End of 2000s = Gundam OO, sort of a Gundam Wing rehash.
2011-2012 = Gundam AGE1, sort of a 0079 rehash. AGE2, sort of a SEED rehash. AGE3, sort of a Inazuma Eleven rehash.

Sure each show is at least 50% original plot, but large chunks and character arcs and story arcs are ripped straight out of other gundam shows.

Just give me a new Gundam series that is 90% original concept and isn't going to give deja vu of another Gundam series. Yeah there is a lot of gundam out there, but I still believe there is room for some originality. Unicorn is pretty original in a fan-fiction porn way.

X has had individual DVD volume releases but it was in 2005 or so alongside a memorial box. They also did a more barebones G-Selection release as well.

The memorial box is probably what most people bought, which explains why there are no volume sales figures. I would imagine the volumes were mostly good for people who rent? Not sure.
