lmao I'm so glad they realized there's more to FF7 than the serious nature. This game's got FF7's sense of humor for sure.
Personally I call it FF humor. Since they all have them especially V and when that SOLDIER said "You're the man now dog, all the chicks will be lining up for some Vitamin Zack!". It reminded me of FFV's joke moments.

I didn't want to come back and comment for fear of spoilers, but my marathon is going well. Nearly 9 hours invested :lol

You will fucking shit your pants at the Nibelheim stuff if you love FFVII. This game does a MUCH better job of recreating that world than the original game ever did. Jeremy Parish is totally correct.

The FFVII bits of this game are like some of my favorite gaming moments ever.

I picked up copy at my local Best Buy today. I can't wait to get out of work and hopefully have an hour or so before class, so I can give the game a try. I almost want to ditch class so that I can play :D.

I've got a hunch that Versus XIII will be using an overhauled version of Crisis Core's gameplay.
I hope. To compare this to Kingdom Hearts is to ignore all the dynamic stuff this system offers. Position matters, and you can dodge spells and stuff.

I should have it finished with full impressions posted tomorrow morning.

This game is awesome! Love the stories relation to FF7, I loled at some of Zacks lines, I love the fact I can pause cut-scenes (it'd suck to miss a juicy CG vid just because my train was pulling in), and for all the DMWs wierdness I dont mind it - the multiple attack DMW result where the screen goes dark is off the hook.

Oh look, another cutscene.

Actually, it's that minus the yellow, black, and red stickers.

I thought XIII is supposed to be the evolution of Crisis Core's battle system. After playing the game today and reading Jeremy Parish's blog post during GDC, I can now fully see it in the screens from E3 2006, and how it's supposed to be acrobatic, like a movie, in combat.

PLEASE DO THIS. The battle system rocks. Comparing CC to KH is a disservice.

GET TANABATA ON FF7 REMAKE STAT.

Crisis Core really makes me hope for a FFVII remake <3

You might need to watch some KH videos then, you can dodge spells and stuff too. Also it has a battle system that uses both the x and y axis. And really position in CC is about Critical hits which for once you play a part in.

More like FFX-2, but faster. XIII is not an ARPG

Seeing Loveless Avenue makes me want a FF7 remake, even more so than before :/

Sorry, I love FF7 and LOOOOOOOOOVE CC so far but I want an all new game with a similar system. This and a fusion of ff12's system would be the fucking future. This is good hype material for 13, cause the system in this game is crazy. If you don't have a psp you need to get one for this game (if you liked ff7... haven't gotten far enough to validate that for new comers).

Got the game earlier... couldn't help myself a put about an hour in before digging into hw...

The rock music is actually entertaining. The first environment was nothing special, but the combat is becoming quickly addictive. zack is fairly annoying at the beginning. hopefully that changes over time. I also love the inside cover of the psp case, and was surprised to see a semi-thick manual.

Can't wait to dig into it some more.

Something hilarious happened to me. I get home, turn on my psp and see that the screen is cracked, doh! I left it in my bag when I checked it on the plane. Guess I'll get a nice psp slim then. Time to try some Crisis Core on a cracked screen.

Worst experience at BB FLINT, MI. They didn't even know it was there. I turn in my case they gave me for my deposit and they said they didn't get it in. Then they look for 20 minutes and come back with nothing and another employee shows up and says all of the games are out in this endcap by the PSP games. They didn't even hold my pre-order for me, it was up for grabs on the counter. I got the game but this was way too much to handle. I have 25 in rewards zone cash to spend, otherwise I would've had this yesterday.

The game rocks. I'm about 2:30 into it at level 14. Pure awesomeness. I love the feel of this game.

Wow, Genesis is really awesome. :D
I wanna see what happens with him as well. The events early on in the game certainly tell a lot about him.

The 'H' stands for hentai.
Everything about the game is great.

The voice acting is superb, the music is great (of course, it would be even better if it was fully orchestrated, but you have to appeal to the younger kids), and the graphics....holy crap.

The graphics are leagues better than anything on the PSP.

Also, the game has a shitload of CG and voice acting, how did they fit all of that in the game?

Anyone else seen the commercials for it yet? I just saw one.

EDIT:

Also just found a clip on Youtube of Genesis speaking. I don't know if it's really spoilerish:

With the way they're going with Genesis storyline (in Crisis Core and the secret ending in Dirge of Cerberus), I can see them working on a sequel to Dirge of Cerberus in a few years..

Zack is an annoying little bitch. I hope he grows up a bit.

Got it, enjoying it, and I'm avoiding the thread in fear of excessive spoilerage.

Hard Mode is the way to go, certainly.

The guide is really nice. The O and X buttons being swapped is really messing me up...stupid japanese version.

Hard mode is so much more fun. Almost died a few times.

So is Normal too easy? I'd start on hard but I am afraid I will get stuck somewhere and get frustrated and quit, like I do with so many RPGs

I can vouch for the not-so-easiness of hard mode to start off. I don't know if it's genuinely tough, or if I just haven't quite gotten the hang of it all yet.

I played through the Japanese version on normal and, aside from the more difficult side missions, the game was brain dead easy. I can certainly see where the complaints of "button-mashy" come from on normal. Even early on with the hard difficulty, I'm having to be really careful of how much I attack, and managing mp and items.

I'm finding some of the missions on normal already kinda tough (when your around 33%-ish). How much harder can it get on hard mode?

I picked this up today at BB not knowing about the cover. I didn't get any shin-ra UMD cover though. That'd be pretty keen to own.
