You know what is really telling? How little interest people have in posting here siince piracy has messed up the PSP bad. This game should have a fever-like rsponse, instead too many people arre not gonna post here because they have it illegally. I hope this game gets the sales it deseves!

I am in the same boat as you. Not confusing just boring dribble.

I don't speak much of my mind right now because this whole thread is on a incredible high right now, that I think it's best to not say anything very negative.

I picked up the game, but I don't see myself playing it for at least another week. I still have to finish FFVIII and Disgaea before I even think of starting a new game.

What the hell are you talking about? What would stop pirates from posting on the game?

And the story isn't that confusing, IMO. I've been following it pretty well so far, still trying to figure out who the good guys are though!

A pretty good game in the FF7 universe, if piracy wasn't so rampant this thread would be much more lively. Same as the GoW thread. Either way I thnk that any FF7 fan with a PSP should buy this.

why would someone that pirated it not post here? out of guilt? :lol

it's not like you're gonna be able to sniff the pirates out. although a lot of gaf pirates seem to be retarded and fall for traps easily.

Hence the lack of posting on this awesome game.

If it helps, I yelled at my friend who said he was going to pirate it and basically guilt-tripped him into buying it ;)

So I like games to be challenging, but not annoyingly so. Should I play this on normal or hard? I have the game sitting here, yet I'm paralyzed by this decision!

Go normal. People bitching about the difficulty probably haven't unlocked any of the side missions where every other monster has an insta-kill ability. Also, taken from SomethingAwful:

Don't start the game on hard mode unless you like 10 minute long random battles.

You can still get challenge from normal if you focus doing missions higher above you. Or you could use the Cursed ring and stay at level6 forever.

Dude, I restarted on normal mode and it's too easy so far. Hard mode is cool but like, the Wutai part is brutal since you don't have any save points for a period of 20-30 minutes. On top of that, you can't skip cutscenes. Ugh.

That's pretty much what I had to do. I redid the gate battle like 4 times because of death before save point...."regular" mode is alot easier though...

Everybody is clamoring for a FF7 remake on the PS3, but I would honestly take one on the PSP with Crisis Core graphics. Seriously, it would be a lot cheaper for Square to go this route. Also, Square seems to have a habit of remaking their older games for handhelds.

Them sure-fire '08 releases do that to the young mind. Glad you were able to save the pilgrim.

I would be down with it also, especially considering they could redo all the cg to this quality.

Considering they already have some of the assets built, I can see it being done.

So what's better in the long run. Hard or Normal mode? Didn't they say the game is pretty easy? So should I start right off at Hard Mode?

The world is fine, bigger then their FFVII counterparts but only because you need room to fight.

More NPC's need to be added though because those are the only barren thing that crosses the mind. Running through the Reactor is very tight and small (like in FFVII) compared to the the huge Fountain location in sector 8.

Ok, I've come around on the combat a bit, but I HATE the DMW. I just went up 3 levels in one battle, in a row, and it always interrupts the battles 'to help you out'. Just makes everything feel so arbitrary rather than earned.

I was going to do that, but he wouldn't have bought it anyway since he doesn't see the logic in buying something you can get for free. Though I did have a good laugh when he whined about the pirated copy not working.

Mine won't be in until the weekend, that's my reason for not posting. =/

UGH I'm doing that as we speak right now. I want the challenge of hard mode but I already spent countless minutes rewatching, and rewatching, and rewatching... etc all these cutscenes before bosses and what-not. Totally disappointed in that.

Midgar doesn't have nearly as much personality.

Maybe because no one is in Midgar? Everything is stretched out bigger and too little NPC's. Run around again.

I am still confused at the whole Nibelhiem incident and characters age. Since cloud is 15 when you meet him and 15 when it happens why is Zack a different model? Older (was 16 at game start)? They weren't in pods for 6 years but for much less. How does it end with Zack being 21/22? Same with Aeris and stuff, it kind of makes it look like only Zack ages.

Then again I have to get to that part first to see if they don't screw up the time.

Also, square should give us the option to change the onscreen character. I rather have Tifa or Red XIII on screen than seeing Clouds scrawny butt the entire time.
I don't know why we have characters inside our bodies in this day and age. I would love to have my party all out and be able to lead with whoever.

As long as it has a world map and is on 2 Discs so that we get a ton of CG and voice acting, I am totally fine with an FF7 remake on the PSP.

Completely in love with the game thus far. And the soundtrack is in-fucking-credible. However, I have one complaint, with maybe? spoilers from banora:
the bomb/shell destroying part in Banora is just horribe - really, really bad. why couldnt they just let you run toward Angeal's home and pay attention for the sound?
Other then that, having a blast.

Haha, yeah that dumbapples scene was amusing. Seems like the game has some charm!

PS maybe you can skip cutscenes in newgame+? that'd make some sense if they did it that way but i figured somebody woulda known that if it were the case. meh

A part of Midgar's appeal for me was the detail. The litter on the ground, the garbage piling to the rotting pizza above, the camera angles. Crisis Core is made 10 years after FFVII and doesn't nearly have as much detail, charm, or personality going for its environments.
I felt the Reactor gave me the same feeling except the rush of the bomb timer going down. Would say same with Shin-Ra main building except the lack of floor access. I agree with the litter and garbage but that is because Shin-Ra/Midgar is not at their same state as in FFVII. Camera, controllable though very strange.

Hmm, well you do have to remember they're still building Midgar during this time.
Exactly. In one of the early mails I believe Shin-Ra talks about how only a few parts of Midgar is finished.

Agreed. I loved me the pre-rendered backgrounds from the PSX days. :lol

Is it actually wise for Square Enix to do that though? The PSP piracy is already bad outside Japan. Something like FFVII remake would be a piracy bullseye. It wouldn't get that much sales as a result.

PS3 is the only way to go or not done at all. Besides, it would take at least 3 years to do and I very much doubt the PSP will be around come 2011/2012 with current software sales.

Can't wait for my copy of Crisis Core though, just checked track and trace and my copy is ready to be delivered to me tomorrow. YAY. :D

Wow. It finally makes sense now. The original game didn't explain this stuff all that well. In fact, I don't remember any mention of
Sephiroth being Hoho(?)'s son. Or about Cloud or Zack being experimented on together. Mind you, that could just be because I was confused by the whole "Hey Cloud, you were created in a lab, LOL"

Does this game have a logical, non-convoluted story? One you can follow without having to draw a diagram while you're playing I mean.

IIRC, you only find out the second part if you go back to Nibelheim.

Oh. This is on the second disc, right? I guess I got sick of the random battles yanking me out of the action every five steps, so the thought of going back to Nibelheim didn't really appeal. I didn't think there was anything worth going back for anyway.

I was wondering how Cloud could hallucinate that he was Zack. I thought that surely, his inferiority complex couldn't be that severe. It also made no sense that he'd been infused with Mako without ever having graduated SOLDIER school.

That's so stupid. Why would they obfuscate such a critical plot point like that? By hiding it in a optional sidequest of all things and in Nibelheim, of all places? It would be like making a character unlockable by having them be the prize in one of the game's many slow and frustrating mini games and having that mini game be a lost forever.

McDragon said:
i thought you find out when you fight Hojo.
Well, Hojo said some stuff during that battle, but I dismissed it as bullshit because of that whole
"Cloud, you were created in a lab LOL"
fiasco. Now that I think about it though, you're probably right.

I'm going on Hard mode right off the bat...

I keep dying like left and right. :( Things hit so hard, and I'm trying to roll all over the place trying to get my sad little cures off bah. I am bad at this

So needless to say I dont understand the easy complaints, at least early on.

McDragon said:

anyway, here is the secret flashback cutscene:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=__qhOTnFwUY
He should have been clearer LOL. Thanks to that jackass, I spent most of the game thinking that
the Cloud I was playing as was a Mako/Jenova/Sephiroth enhanced clone of an original Cloud, who had died tragically, probably during the Nibelheim incident. By the time I fought Hojo,
I had given up trying to make sense of the story and really only kept playing because I was close to the end.

Has anyone finished the game yet? Is the storyline easy to follow? It looks as though they've addressed most of the issues I had with the original, but this does worry me a little.

You're wrong, the Rocket Town incident happened a year after Nibelheim.

And regarding
