just got back from ym CC. Bought Crisis Core. But didn't buy a PSP cuz they won't take 10% off of it. So onto Amazon.,

Anyway, good news was that, I bought the last CC from my Circuit City, and it's sold out there.

200k March NPD here we come!

whoa they sold out? wow.

Okay, done materia hunting. And beat the thing that comes out after you insert them in the altar
. Now it's time for the final boss. Let's do it. Technodrome, the final shell shock!

Where I went to get it yesterday they had about 3 copies left. Right when I was buying it somebody called in asking if they had any. I doubt that 1 last copy is still there.

Waaaaay better than I expected. I always loved this type of combat system and as polished as Kingdom Hearts was, I just couldn't get through it.

I'm only about an hour deep - do you eventually get combo attacks? Right now attacking seems a bit disjointed, too much delay between hits. I want fighting game style combos dammit.

Also love that technology plays a decent part with shopping online and emails. Great stuff so far. Anyone have any links to the whole FF7 story? I haven't played it since it came out and forgot how Zack fit into the whole story. The train pulling up to the station brought back great memories.

Nope
think of the delays more as a atb gauge.

I LOVE THIS GAME!!! It deserves every sale that any other game this year has had. I just reached the
slums and me Aerith for the first time. Total nostalgia riff in the church
. SquareEnix needs to keep this kind of feel, which made them what they are today, in their future releases. I have even more faith in them after this game.

6 hours in and so far so good.

Surprised by the girth of the Missions, feels like I've done quite a few but only at 10%.

Also, I'm at
where Zach meets Aerith for the first time

About how far is that in the main story?

I am about 3 hours in and am at
Section 8 right after Genesis Copies bust into the Shinra building
. I LOVE THIS GAME! Also, going up two levels in the same fight was fucking hilarious, I like the DMW system. Adds more fun to battles.

Its annoying sometimes, like unskippable uber attacks when you they are completely useless (IE on one of those security bots you can usually one-shot)

I thought the bit where
Genesis, Sephiroth, and Angeal were on the canon (Training) was cool. The whole CG bit/choreography was great, especially when Sephiroth and Genesis went at it
. Such a cool bit.

Also, Square, give me Before Crisis >:O

Yeah, so far, that's been my favorite FMV. Better fight scenes than normal.

I actually like Genesis a bit. I like all the charcters. But right now
Angeal
is kickin my ass, its the first boss thats ever given me much trouble.

ugh. the DMW is pissing me off. I want to level up or at least get a higher stat to fight these two creatures. how often does 777 appear?

Fighting/killing more increases the chance of 777.

I'm 3:30 in and am at lvl 16. I've been tackling more missions, so fun. And thanks Kagari, I await the greatness.

hmm, so 777 is fixed basically like a leveling system. But what about leveling up your materias? That seems completely random, right?

It hasn't annoyed me once.

And thanks Kagari!

Well if it doesnt annoy you they should go ahead and put them in every game.

Oh and your 3 hours in and mostly been doing side missions, dont think your exactly qualified to say if there annoying or not.

lol... the only reason I wish I could skip the scenes in this game is because I already beat it 2 times before :lol although seeing them in English is pretty amusing.

The DMW's randomness is awesome. In regular encounters, Zack will use some of those awesome acrobatic skills a majority of the time; but when it comes to boss battles, he doesn't use them as much. Instead, the DMW gives me cool effects like no MP cost or no AP cost.

Don't get so testy. I am qualified to belch and fart Yankee Doodle Dandee if I please!!!!!

Right, unskippable cutscenes = no-no. They finally started annoying me tonight while replaying a boss battle.

I havent even played FF7 (much), but it's still great, and I got goosebumps sometimes anyway.

yeah it is... except the ultrabland environments don't really do justice to the awesomesauce steam-punkiness of the originals. the designs feel very modern and very dull.

Aaaaaand the "surprise" after the credits just ended.

Quite an ending. There will be tears, etc. Being able to play as Zack quite literally until the very end is a great touch. I'm curious if you can actually "win" the fight if you've grinded into oblivion or something. Was a little jarring that it switched from super detailed CG when showing the bloodied Zack to the lesser detailed one a few moments later, but eh, still liked it. One thing that completely flew past my head was the whole away for 4 years thing. Was there any hint at this anywhere?

I'm pretty much on par with your thoughts on the story Kev. I really did not like Genesis at all as a character, he was rather irritating actually. Struts about as a pretentious nancy for much of the game dropping non-sequiturs from "Loveless" at regular intervals, ugh. Gackt can shove it where the sun don't shine. I found the premise to be interesting, however in typical Nojima fashion he presents it in a caca-coo coo manner. DREAMZ AND HONHOR YEAH. The whole cloning stuff was borderline retarded with the degradation bit being the only salvageable element from it. Lazard becoming an Angeal copy and Angeal being embodied in the metallic dog? I don't know, I kind of lost track midway through.

Best parts were the Nebelheim chapter as well the more personal exchanges Zack has with other characters. Pretty much all the scenes with Aerith are fantastic as well as the moments where he's just shooting the breeze with Cloud. Also enjoyed the few exchanges Zack has with Tseng and Cissnei. I very much liked how the ending segues directly into the beginnings of FFVII, playing a remixed version of the PS3 tech demo after the credits is hopefully a hint that you-know-what's brewing. The whole Nebelheim trip was basically a sampler for a potential remake, and hearing all the old FFVII tunes remixed was such a wonderful treat. I'm anxious to see if Square follows through.

Great stuff all-around. Playing this has made me stoked for Versus XIII as well as FFXIII proper. Hopefully I wont die in some freak accident before they release.

well...other than that... it has a final fantasy XII vibe to it. It's the music that makes it feel so nostalgic in combination with little things like Zack twirling his sword after a fight.

oh i totally agree, its just kind of a bummer when the mission is like "you're going to Fort Condor!" and then you just go to Bland Desert Map C.

The DMW is weird, though I'm not sure if I'm convinced on it's mechanics... it definately makes me break out a huge grin.

It reminds me A LOT of pinball games where they have scenes triggered by where the ball goes.
