The Sequel Trilogy Remains Canon - Daisy Ridley returning as Rey in a new Star Wars movie

Perpetually Offended
Finn was the most interesting character coming out of Force Awakens and they turned him into a goofy, illogical, needy, worthless character.
Going off the last two films, if JB is in this new series when he gets the script, it will be 40 lines of him screaming: "REY!!!" (pause three seconds) "REY!!!!"

Rian Johnson did him dirty when he had him repeat his arc from TFA... And then JJ just scrapped that he was Force sensitive in the final movie. Made NO sense! I liked that Rey was training under Leia ... But so many things in TROS was just dumb!

I liked the former troopers... Especially the one that was supposed to be Lando's daughter. They should have had a script doctor come in and punch that part up and then LEAVE IN that Finn could use The Force.

I had no problem with Rose but they wrote her TERRIBLY! The actress is cute as heck and VERY small... They just made her look frumpy as all get out and a killjoy. Johnson gave her a good set-up but then buried any and all momentum he set her up with following her sister's death.

What they did to Finn was one of the worst character assassinations I've ever seen. He was the best part of TFA and I hated what they did to him.

Great news. Loved the trilogy besides tros. Love for Finn to return as well but doubt it

I'd really like to see them do good by Finn's character and have him show up for training at some point. I think it was pretty clear he was Force sensitive and was trying to convey that to Rey. I mean, he put up a semblance of a fight against Kylo, when Kylo would have just obliterated any normal-ass dude trying to use a light saber.

It's crazy that Star Wars just...sucks now.
I like some of the Disney+ stuff. Since it is set before The Force Awakens there's less of a retcon feel since most of the stories are plausible. I don't think that stuff has been as damaging to the brand as the sequel trilogy that turned Luke Skywalker into a wimp and completely decimated the Solo lineage. That sequel trilogy would have been just fine with Jaina Solo as the lead and instead od Kyle Ren her having to take down her brother as Darth Caedus with Lumiya's Sith as the evil undercurrent.

The sequel trilogy was awful. Easily the worst Star Wars has ever been. I can't believe I'm saying this, but the prequel trilogy was far superior to the nonsensical sequel trilogy.

Disney should just scrap this idea and move onto to something completely different. Not many people are desperate to see more Ray, Poe or any other of those characters shat out of this Disney era.
Prequel was far superior to the sequel series. Jar Jar wasn't that bad.

Finn and Kylo-ren are the worst implementations of the Star Wars franchise. I also disliked Poe Dameron a bit.

I guess it doesn't matter whether the sequel trilogy is canon or not, considering that it mostly wiped off all the old characters and plot points. I guess the new new trilogy can start from scratch, the only thing to remember from the last trilogy is "Rey is the last force-wise character and decided to create her own path" If Rey is already a jedi master I suppose there is a time skip anyway.

The film trilogies have been decreasing in quality with each iteration with the last being so terrible, there were practically no takeaways whereas even the pre-trilogy had Darth Maul, Jango Fett, clone troopers etc. that were used as a basis for Filoni and Tartakovski to work with.

The post-trilogy was expensive, unremarkable garbage that started with some promise and nose-dived into oblivion with The Last Jedi. New films should let the Disney+ Star Wars repair the damage while creating a new arc that’s completely unconnected.

I didn't like bringing Palpatine back or Rey calling herself a Skywalker, but other than that the sequel trilogy was pretty damn good. Daisy Ridley did a great job and I like Rey as a character. I'd also love to see more Finn, Rose, Poe, maybe even some more about that little alien lady that gave Rey that lightsaber in TFA, and other characters. They've been on a good run with Mandolorian, Andor, Obi-Won and Boba Fett, so I'm confident this will be another great SW addition. Looking forward to it.

If she is going to be a Jedi master, will she meet cis white male characters among her students who then perform multiple attempts of orchestrated man-splaining towards her?

I could see this becoming a recurring theme that the creators might stretch across multiple feature films where Rey is joined by like-minded allies played by Brie Larson and Amber Heard.

You are comparing dog shit to bat shit. Yeah one smells worse, but they are still both shit.

Nah, the prequel trilogy was much better, simply for the fact that it attempted to tell a story. People might not have liked the details, or that George Lucas indulged himself too much, or Jar Jar, or any of these things, all valid complaints. However, the sequel trilogy did not have a single idea of what it was trying to tell, except that their social politics had to play a central role in the story, that's why it's an immensely worse pile of shit.

The Lightning Returns of Star Wars

But it's Disney, it will do a billion at the box office because it exists. There's no hope for American culture at this point so I'm not going to worry about it

Signed, the prequels are good.
The sequels - not so much.

EP.7 was a good intro to the new trilogy even with all the problems and being carbon copy of EP.4.
You can definitely see the potential there (Finn, the chrome trooper etc.)

The entire problem was what RJ did with EP.8. and the fact that they bet on Leia for Ep. 9.

The last movie was simply unrecoverable after cluster fuck of EP.8 and Carrie's death.

Now imagine the meeting:
"Rogue squadron after the success of Top Gun Maverick?"
"Nah too safe"

"The old republic, the most interesting and unexplored star wars era?"
"No, too dangerous."

"A sequel to the movies that were review bombed by the fans?"
"Genius! Here's you multimillionaire budget. Go fo it!."

Which crack smokers thought the sequel trilogy wasn't going to remain canon? Where are you?

Luke Skywalker, failure as a Jedi Master, wants to murder his nephew in his sleep, gets all his students killed and endangers the galaxy.

Rey Palpatine will do it properly.
Well Luke like his father Anakin, is and was a fucking failure. The Palpatines were always in control. it’s only fitting a palpatine beat another palpatine.

Love the clever idea of Disney to give us three different movies in three timelines. Whatever brings in the most of profit can be turned into the next trilogy. That’s abc testing done right.

So wait, wait, wait.

Not only did they do Luke dirty by making him the worst character in the ST, they are now dancing and pissing on his grave by giving his legends achievments to the most hated character of said trilogy?

Boy, i'm sure Disney's shills received complete documentation which -ism has to be used when people will be vocal about it.

It's Good Friday, lay off the crack for one day.
*Cough*

And Obi Wan, etc etc.
The only thing that was remotely good in the series was the dialog between Obi and Vader after their second duel.
lol of course she's a Jedi Master.

VIII was so bad that I didn't even watch IX, it's dead.
Same. After i saw big, black space irons doing laundry, Finn being sidelined and becoming the ST's Jar-Jar, Snoke being offed like a bitch, First Order not being able to catch then (new) Rebel Fleet by jumping in front of them, Finn and chonky asian girl going on a worthless sidequest, cpt Purple Hair hyper raming capitol ships, Leia flying through space, FUCKING LUKE DYING BY PROJECTING HIMSELF TOO MUCH, some random kids role playing the entire ending battle and grabbing the brooms by the Force i just went out speechless out the theater. All i know about part IX is from the memes and...

Somehowe they made it worse.

At this point Disney and their Star Wars movies are a great source of entertainment for me. That's because I love seeing the scathing videos from youtubers like Critical Drinker, Nerdrotic and Redlettermedia.

I enjoyed The Force Awakens despite it being poor storywise. But it showed some promise and had Finn. I expected to see everything expanded in the upcoming movies, but TLJ was such a roadblock that I didn't even watch IX. I have no hopes for upcoming movies, but I like the actress for Rey, so I wish the best for her.
