This is interesting. He actually calls that spot a "...NFC reader/writer..." That seems to confirm that it can transfer info to other NFC devices... not just read as some speculated.

So if the Miiverse is the new home screen, I'm very interested to see the navigation for the Wii U. I think every screen you have to go through to get to the actual game is an impediment to turning the thing on.

I imagine that things in the main Miiverse view are time-delayed BIG TIME to allow for content review of hand-drawn material. Friends list folks being exempt from that.

Dude, let me just say... that 1) there's a lot of potential for using that crap to expand a game's audience (ie. I would not be surprised if the Rayman game gets a lot of kids' attention that it would not have otherwise) and 2) as a pricing and strategy person, I WOULD KILL TO BE INVOLVED WITH PRICING THAT PLASTIC CRAP. Oh my god, the fun.
Look at the bottom right corner of the Miiverse screenshot. That's what will take you to the main layout, which (if the icon on that bottom-right tab is any indicator) means we're back to Wii Channels, but hopefully a much better implementation of them.
I really don't think MS wants to get embroiled in lawsuits over ripping someone off. Something about stones and glass houses.

I wonder how many people actually played Skylanders to actually see that it's not shallow like that.
It doesn't just "unlock". It stores data which spans from different consoles and games. It's like a physical, mini cloud storage.

I seem to remember MS having several patents about gamepad design and button layouts. And they are generally not shy when it comes to protecting their IP.

Storing account info and game stats on a gamer card so that you can take it to the store to get promotions or order digital downloads. Or, maybe even take to a friend or relative's house and use it pull up your account/system info on her Wii U.

Plus it only really looks like the controller in shape which I'm pretty sure that's not enough to sue over.
The right stick is in a different location and both sticks are convex instead of concave like on the 360 pad.
The buttons are arranged in a different order, and the d-pad is different.

Eh. They can be a bit lazy when it comes to the Pro controller. After all, it's more of a me-too product by its very nature. Frankly, I think it's a worthless addition to the landscape designed to appease the most narrow-minded of people, but that's neither here nor there.
How is he right? That crap happens in nearly every single thread on Gaf and in every forum on the Internet for that matter. Flame wars are not exclusive to Nintendo threads however they are the most clear cut on both sides of the spectrum. Nintendo threads draw in just as many devoted fanboys as they do haters. Opinions are like assholes and such.

IMO I think the Pro controller is just the result of third party devs pushing Nintendo for something more traditional as the normal Dudebro controller.
