Both were roughly equal. One area where AC Shadows lost points is it needs DLC for the complete ending.

Shadows looks quite a bit better, has a much larger world to explore and tons of content. The pacing is all over the place though and combat less complex and quite clunky at times. There's also too much pointless loot for minor stats increases and the like. Yotei has much better combat and great exploration where it feels like you stumble upon things organically instead of chasing icons on a map. The narrative is also tighter and much more consistent and I'd argue Atsu is the better protagonist. I'd say Yotei is the better game overall, but Shadows is not without its merits.

I havent answered the poll since I didnt play Yotei, but I will say that Shadows's atmosphere can't be matched by a ton of games let alone Yotei and that's thanks to its seasonal changes which aside from Forza Horizon, no other big game has done it so masterfully. That tech alone should be lauded, but since its Ubisoft most people just ignored that aspect. What a shame, quite some talented developers there.

I own both, but I've only finished one, and that's Yotei.

Assassins Creed Shadows is a stunning looking game, but the gameplay isn't strong enough to make it through such a lengthy game.

Shadows is a game I wanted to play but know you're screwed on combat, I played ghost of tshhuma and #1 ancient Japan is awesome and #2 it passes all the combat tests

I dropped Yotei at 12 hours and got bored of AC around 30, so I voted for AC. AC is still fun in small chunks every now and then, so maybe one day I will finish it. I wouldn't say either are great games. AC has the edge for me due to the stealth gameplay being fun, better parkour and I prefer the populated, more realistic looking world. GoY has really bad stealth, parkour and the world doesn't feel alive at all. GoY has better melee fighting, but even that got boring pretty quick. AC melee fights are really clunky and bad.
