I mean, early last year everyone was losing their shit over this,
crysis3_psycho_lampwzfg0.gif

saying how these consoles would never match it.

Less than a year into the gen we have this

its nuts

You really think this game looks better than Crysis 3? Come on now. That was a trailer, we have been down this path already (remember Watch Dogs?), these things are always going to look better than what we play. It's to sell you on the game.

That Crysis 3 gif you posted is still in the game, and looks the same - Crysis 3 is still the best looking game on the market.

Without question UC4 looks leagues better.

I just disagree. Considering how great this trailer looks, Ryse would not lead me to believe that they will have this running at 1080p, 60fps. That's a huge difference.

I think if you had ever played Ryse you would think its possible.

Forget cutscenes.

Swinging the camera in right on Marius and seeing hundreds/thousands of hairs on his head blowing in the wind on the beach front and just walking around looking at things on the lesser hardware makes me think it's possible. Even if it's closer to 30fps, it looks plenty doable.

I'm not comparing them at all. I'm saying having witnessed one in person, I believe the other is plenty believable.

If you look at that UC video on an HDTV it looks like a game. A beautiful one at that, but not CG.

ND is not Ubisoft and UC is not WD.
UC4 not being a open world cross gen game already make sure it's going to look better .

It looks better for sure. Leagues better? No. Also Crysis 3 can be played now vs a highly selective single purpose <2 min slice. Like I said I have no doubt UC4 will look great, but let's stop pretending that this small sample is indicative of an entire game.

Every one of ND's PS3 games has used trailers which consist of prerendered footage. Yes it is "a game level", yes it is "in engine", but no it is not real time gameplay.

"Captured directly from a PS3" was used to reveal TLoU and that turned out to be a cutscene. I don't see anything to indicate that ND would change their standard operating procedure here.

The PC crowd always goes on about how the PS4 is like a low end PC and yet I've never seen visuals like these on the PC. I think the PS4 will surprise us in the years to come.

I don't think C3 looks that great to be hoenst. I'm playing it on PC right now and I'd describe it as a visual mess. Crytek throws everything and the kitchen sink at your face. No fucking restraint of any sort in that game. There were more preoccupied with doing a demonstration of their engine than creating something that actually reads well. The game is just overbearing.

Anyway, I don't find the facial animation in Crysis 3 to be impressive. Forget about UC4, games like Ryse and Infamous are on another level there.

Ive played some Ryse and I still disagree. Maybe if it was 30fps, but not at 60fps

"No, it is definitely real-time, (as my post yesterday might hint) I had one of their devs explicitly confirm to me yesterday that it is running in real time, on a single PS4 and not pre-recorded.

Beginning with Uncharted 4, all Naughty Dog games will feature completely in engine, real time, 3D cutscenes (if they even stay cutscenes anymore), a huge performance departure from what they used to ship."

Aside from the loads of people confirming otherwise, including some impressive catches by pixel-counters spotting clearly non-supersampled scene components.

We already see they change with Corrinne Yu tweet since it's running on single PS4 and not PS4s hook together like they did on PS3 .

There's nothing good looking about his clothes or those dead, dead eyes. I can't see his soul. All the focus went to his face, and even then it doesn't look astoundingly good compared to what we've been getting in recent times.

Uncharted has been consistent in making everything look good.

Again, who is this person supposed to be?

The Crysis 3 faces look really good, but the way in which Naughty Dog animates their faces makes them look better to me. Neither looks terrible by any stretch though, and the Crytek animations are still really good generally. Some of the Crysis models suffer from dead eye syndrome also.

That said, I cannot wait for Uncharted 4. I hope they keep the 60 FPS, because it looks wonderful!

You're right, but shhhh, let's not attract them here.

Also, Naughty Dog isn't Ubisoft. ND has time and time again delivered with their games from a visual standpoint. Don't lump in Ubisoft's bullshit with their overhyped GTA-lite game together with the Uncharted series.

Considering how good Uncharted 2/3 cutscenes looked I'm not surprised at what ND were capable of on modern hardware.

I'm more impressed that they got that at 60fps. Not that there's much in the way of stuff going on. I'd like to see if that fidelity could carry over to the game proper at 30fps. Highly doubt it but I wouldn't mind being proven wrong

When U4 comes out no doubt Ryse 2 will shortly follow. We can truly compare image quality to see if the Xbox is up for the fight with PS4.

It's not even close. Nate in this scene is far beyond.

The Crysis 3 gif seriously looks like a mannequin with a fuck ton of makeup on it. The details look painted on, the eyes are lifeless as can be, there's barely any muscle movement in the face as he talks, etc.

Look at drake, muscle movement everywhere, properly expressed feelings, the shadowing and lighting is insane with the wetness effect being spot on. The list goes on. Nate actually looks like a fucking human.

That's great to know, and I'm really excited for this game, can't wait to play Uncharted at 60fps, already bought my PS4 the moment the Sony conference was over (Bloodborne <3).

BUT, why the fuck do people call Uncharted games "UC"? Should we use CS3 for Crysis 3 then?

Is Evolved EV?

This drives me nuts.

EDIT: Drake looks way better, come on guys.

It is possible that the actual game looks inferior to Crysis 3 because character models aren't the only thing that matters when it comes to graphics (even considering the in-game model is exactly the same as the cutscene one), but with what we have, Uncharted 4 is better.

POOF!

After watching the 60fps HQ footage it's so obvious it's real-time. The clipping and shader artifacts are easy to spot if you're looking. I'm actually not blown away by it to be honest. I mean it looks great but it's not unbelievable that a PS4 can do this.

Whether it's practical to have gameplay running at this level is another issue entirely. This was a real-time demo to introduce the concept of the game. ND's ambitions for the levels in Uncharted 4 will necessitate rolling this back a bit so keep your expectations in check.

I'm not saying "LOL DOWNGRADE INCOMING" I'm saying it's silly to think they are going to spend resources rendering Drakes' stubble when he's facing away from the camera 80% of the time and they can use those resources for mountains in the distance during actual gameplay.

That fly disturbs me. o.o

If what they say is true
No reason to not believe them
, well... it's harder to convince myself not to buy a PS4 next year.

Cropped. lol
you're funny
I play games at 3840x1600.

But yeah Drake is def higher poly. Once again, not jumping in on the Crysis side.

I know the picture is seconds before in the cutscene :P

But in reality Drake is leagues better. Kinda expected if just judging by the polys psycho was less than 30k iirc? Drake is about 80-100k. Also Psycho doesn't even have hair.

People actually believe this is ingame?

Are people so blinded to not believe this is ingame, when the studio that's making it has consistently delivered on graphics and cinematic fidelity, let alone the engaging/emotional narrative design and lovable characters in almost every one of their games.

I read the OP. They're still random, anonymous people, then.

Hmm Random?

http://gamingbolt.com/uncharted-4s-...an-actual-level-in-the-game-was-all-in-engine

While we were going hands on with The Order 1886 at E3 2014, GamingBolt’s Leonid Melikov bumped into Naughty Dog’s Studio Coordinator Rodney Reece and Lead FX Artist Keith Guerrette. Although we were not able to conduct a full fledged interview with them, the duo were able to confirm a few interesting points about the trailer for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
They confirmed to us that the Uncharted 4 trailer showcased during Sony’s E3 2014 press conference was a part of an actual level in game. Secondly, they also confirmed that the entire trailer was running in real time on the PlayStation 4 and it was all in-engine.

Put some effort into your post next time.
