Uncharted 4 Trailer runs in-engine, in-game, in realtime on a single PS4 at 1080p60

What an Uncharted game makes technically much better than the competition are the animations and the set pieces like the docks, trains, falling houses and stuff.
I can't imagine how these things can be topped with Uncharted 4.

Shit I can. They did all that with 512mb of total RAM and a shit GPU. It's like giving DaVinci a full set of paints and brushes after he could only use Crayon's for 7 years.

Would be the perfect opportunity for an Uncharted 4 setpiece speculations thread. (I should really work on growing out of my junior status...)

I think those same pictures Smash posted are in the Zelda Wii U thread where someone trotted them out again to try and say that we shouldn't believe Naughty Dog about UC4, but we all should fall in line and declare Zelda Wii U best graphics ever.

YEAH SURE ND IS TOTALLY NOT LIKE UBISOFT OR ANY OTHER COMPANY.

Give it a rest, if you think this is what the final product will look like you are living under a rock.

....those pictures don't prove the point you think they do.

So many people doubted the wizards at Naughty Dog. You heathens.

I always wondered what they could pull with modern hardware, when they could do so much with a 190gflop GPU in the PS3.

I'm probably really super late on this, but I only played Uncharted 3 recently so might as well bring it up now.
It's clear to me for all of those that they were changed to look better or fit the scene better. What's up with the Chloe in the bus one though. That's just seems like a downgrade. But it's a prerendered cutscene so power obviously wasn't the reason. So what's up with that? Does it look better to some people?

It looks worse to me, but the changed the time of day in the scene to early morning and the lighting and colouring is supposed to show that

Plus they seemed to give Chloe and Elena some bad plastic surgery

Yeah that was really distracting.
The game looks otherwise stellar, though.

Wow, I would have guessed the trailer was like previous in-engine cutscenes rendered on multiple consoles.

It really does surprise me that it was in-game in real-time on one single ps4. Since the console specs leaked I got more and more the impression that the ps4 is not very powerful thanks to some posters. But if these visuals can be achieved at 1080/60fps this early in the gen, I can't imagine what'll come in the future.

I am really struggling to believe. It really looks like cg to me. So smooth, I couldn't see aliasing, the animations were sublime.
How big is naughty dogs that they can put such effort into visuals? How realistic is it to expect these kind of visuals to become standard?

So happy that my distrust in the power of the new consoles have been proven baseless.

I just wished that devs would release direct-feed images from time to time. It doesn't have to be trailers or important stuff either, just basic things like a screenshot of a building in a level, or clothing, hair, animals, trees. It doesn't have to be pr-laden stuff, just directly from the dev to the core community.

I'm imagining a physics engine the likes of which we've never seen, and on a scale that's never been done before. I'm expecting initial Source engine tweaked Havok physics demo levels of holy shit. That's what I'm hoping for at least.

Looks like everyone has already schooled you on this one.

The changes made to Uncharted 3's cinemas were completely driven by art direction not technical limitations. The reason is simple; those cinemas were all pre-rendered video on the disc.

ND has stated, however, that they are moving away from video based cutscenes with UC4.

I don't even see how one could possibly consider them as downgrades anyway.
The only one looking off is the one with Chloe, but it looks like one of these "funny pics taken at an awkward moment" kind of things. If you look past that, there's a lot more environmental detail, like the stuff hanging in front of the window on the right hand side.

Wow, they downgraded the airfield into a town street. It's like they downgraded the story even; because I'd have liked them to walk and talk in an airfield as I was led to believe at E3.

Edit: I've just realized they have also changed the camera angle.. Another downgrade. The horror!

Didn't TLOU reveal trailer have much cleaner anti-aliasing? I'm not sure but I think it did. And the perfect AA is the only thing in the U4 teaser that is hard to believe for me.

Many are missing what ND did and always do with there tech and games, the art of direction. They simply spend time on the bits that matter and not the bits that don't.

The trailer (UC4) is full of DoF both back and foreground for one, this is just one simple thing of many you can see in that trailer, I am sure the demo in December will make people weep!

The ignorance is palpable.

The movement and quality of the vegetation, as well as the lighting look excellent though.

Really, it is pretty amazing seeing the difference between Remaster of TLoU and this. The jump is really big.

That 60fps trailer doesn't look right. It looks like it's been processed through a motion interpolation software. Much like the soap opera effect I would get if I turned on the 480hz feature on a supported samsung tv. Either this trailer is a video that has been gone through motion interpolation or they processed the 30fps animation from the game to run at "60fps" just for this particular scene.

Until I can see the actual gameplay at 1080p/60fps with this level of graphical details, I'll take it with a grain of salt.

Was waiting for this. Awesome that it's a flat 60fps throughout, and not a single drop even when the camera pans at the end.

I was hoping for the opposite.
A small dip or three would have helped sell me on it really being a real-time capture from one PS4.

Most cut scenes in games that run at 60fps look like this. Check out mgs games.

Actual gameplay footage that looks better than the cutscene pics you just posted.

OH NOEZ THE PRE-RENDERED CUTSCENES WERE DOWNGRADED THEY LOOK WORSE THAN GAMEPLAY AAARGH

Just played some Watch Dogs on my PS4 and that Drake model might honestly look better than Aiden.

If Drake is pushing plants away from him in real-time during gameplay, I'll be very impressed. Naughty Dog's really good at having the characters interact with the actual game world.

Although the older E3 build looks nicer, these are pre-rendered, unless you show observable evidence of downgraded graphical fidelity during gameplay I'm gonna have to continue to disagree.
