Is this some troll strategy? He doesn't even talk enough for people to mention him everyday on NeoGaf . When I see his name randomly being brought up I just assume you all was told to do this in some discord meeting or something.

To be honest, he has been the worst head of PlayStation Studios. As a CEO is very worrying that he wants to push GaaS games as priority.

New IPs this generation has been abysmal. Most of them are GaaS!

He seems "fine" because he was riding PS4 success wave, but once people realize that's gone, the brand is going to decline big time.

And even his push to GaaS has been a failure.

Dude buying Firewalk after playing some alpha shit of Concord. And maybe convinced Jim Ryan for buying Bungie, Haven Studio.

Also, he push hard the Horizon IP.

Not big hate, but truly not a good "playstation spirit" or some good eye to detect a good game.

The work kinda speaks for itself, I guess. He has more personality than most Playstation US heads (read: empty suits), so I'll give him that. But I can't say he's done anything that feels especially encouraging for the future of Playstation in his tenure as co-CEO or at Guerilla in recent years.

Nah Jim Ryan was hated more but before that Kaz was hated because of the PS3 I think the only CEO that everyone universally liked was Jack Tretton.

Was that Herman or Jim?

Has Jim been retired long enough for the stuff Herman put in place to actually have an impact yet?

Perhaps gaas is all Jim, Herman had to tow the line, but immediately swapped directions once he got in, and we just have not seen the fruits yet.

Next year will be telling.

I always thought of the gaas initiate as Jim's baby. It was always a dumb move.

I'm of the mind to give Herman more time before I decide on how I feel about him.

Everybody at Sony knows gaas was a dumb move now, no matter how they try to salvage it, so an overcorrection is coming. Whoever is in charge during that is gonna get a lot of credit.

Yeah "remembered" fondly but they got tons of hate at the time because of the PS3 in fact they received more hate than any of PlayStation's leaders so this Hulst hatred isn't anything new it comes with the job

Firstly he's not Japanese, so he can get fucked for all I care.

Whenever he opens his mouth he's talking shit and he looks like an absolute fucken idiot. He seems to think he looks hard but he's a fucken doosh diggler. But that's enough about O onQ123 , I also think Hermong Hulst is a twat.
Herman Munster would be better in charge for fuck sake.

He was heading the studios 4 years ago after he took over for Yoshida. People blame him for what happened because he was influential in what happened.

I don't think Sony can afford more years of this guy's leadership. It's not like he's been the coffee guy until now. He's on board with the idiotic strategy that it has until now. Including closing studios and buying GaaS shite.

Short of becoming a complete weeb and giving away shit for free, you're going to get hate as a CEO of SIE. Nishino largely escapes this and you still see people angry at Hulst for things that clearly fall under the platform business group.
 
I personally don't care about him one way or the other until he does something of note. I imagine the hate towards him goes hand in hand with many people here openly hating Horizon.
 
From the same place all the hate for success comes from. Usually from the losing side. Some disguised as fans mixed in with a few legit yet unhinged ones.
 
Don't think it's fake hate. A percentage of the older ps crowd are used to AAA sp ps games that wow them. It's the reason they invested in the console and still fund the ecosystem.

Now if they get limited amt of sp AAA games by the end of ps5 gen (release yr of ps6); will they stay with ps considering it all goes to pc ?

Could be, but he wasn't running the show. Gaf can hate him and Ryan as much as they want, but the CEO's job is to make money for the company and Ryan at least was largely successful in that role.

Remains to be seen what Hulst will do.
