Who else thinks it's a crime we never got Lost Odyssey 2?

This for me was up there in terms of great jrpgs, just everything about it was spot on. I was sure it was going to get a sequel but here we are and nothing, just a crying shame because it was so deserving. I remember getting 1000/1000 in it and it's still one of my all time favorite and memorable games.

I don't even want to hear a weeb's thought process where any mobile game is on the levels of Lost Odyssey.
Fantasian is basically at the production values level right between FFVIII and FFX. It's on console with full voice acting, pre-rendered backgrounds scanned in with photogrammetry from 150 real life models made in Japan by craftsmen. OST by Uematsu. It's basically a PS2 RPG from the creator of FF.

Not a xbro so never played it, but I'm pretty sure Fantasian is up there. It got an enhanced home port, play it.

Anyway, the other main developer on Lost Odyssey (Feelplus) doesn't even exist anymore, so you just have to take it at this point.

Ok you got me

I'll check
LO is a bit bigger budget, but Fantasian really surprised me. Enjoyable game, fun characters, a lot of comedy. The character models look close to The Last Story, same artist, etc.

Try the demo out. It also incorporates some of the text stories with static artwork similar to the LO memories, but not nearly as dark.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I have to flex here. Never played more than 1 hour of it lol but that intro is embedded in my brain

You should definitely play more of it man, it's a fantastic game. Fills the void for the folks who wanted a turn based FF12.

I was never interested in jrpg but after finishing few FF games in recent years, I am more open for weeb content.
This game is on my list for sure. Probably best in xenia anyway

I'm playing through Fantasian right now and it really invokes the same feelings as Lost Odyssey and FF's 7-9. The game starts out stupid easy but eventually works up to a very satisfying difficulty where you'll have to really think about your load out and actions each turn.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
An absolute travesty. I adored Lost Odyssey, and I don't think there's a game that's come out since that's really channeled that same vibe. I really need to revisit it.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
I think its a crime that I never finished the first game. Can't remember where I got to - I think I still have the bookmark of where in the official strategy guide mind you.

I think it’s the last great AAA JRPG made. I’ll play the Personas or SMT’s, and the last couple FF’s, and all have just been ehh.

I think that’s why I’m so god damn interested in Expedition 33. It looks like the type of RPG I’ve wanted since Lost Odyssey.

I find this game to be utterly drenched in sadness and in that it ends up being really mediocre and boring.

I'm more amazed about what's outside your window. Do you live in Jurassic Park?

Ahoy, matey! Shiver me timbers, it’s been a blustery day on this cursed island, I tell ye! The wind’s been howlin’ like a banshee through the rigging, near enough to blow the barnacles off me ship. The palms be bendin’ like they’re dancin’ a jig, and the sand’s been whippin’ ‘round fiercer than a cutlass in a tavern brawl.

The world map theme is insane, especially when the guitar pops in, but you probably wont hear it unless you leave it on that screen

I remember sort of soft locking myself somewhere where I had to fight some real bad mofos on disc 3 or something and I couldnt progress somehow

But I might have been dumb lol

Yes, better for preservation, but I believe the games would have sold better at the time on PS3. Where actual JRPG fans were, and were being starved.
I guess. I was a Japanese games fan and they more than passed the threshold of making it worthwhile to pick up the system. Ninja Gaiden 2, Last Remnant, Tenchu Z, Lost Odyssey, and on and on. Not even touching stuff like Mass Effect or Gears.

I can't believe I was looking at UC4 screenshot :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I absolutely loved it. Well, most of the stories and gameplay, some of the characters and their behaviour, were too much for me at times. Did get anxious closing the game case with all 3 discs inside in case I snapped 1.

I would've loved a sequel or spiritual successor at least. Haven't seen many, if any, games with that style of combat system. Expidition 33 seems to have *some* similarities to it (plus, it looks like it ain't got that OTT weeb stuff), so I'm looking forward to that.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
Great game. It's Sakaguchi san's right? I'd like to see him returned to Final Fantasy. Just for one game , to see how it works now..

Ehh this game was OK. Even the game’s fans say that the best part of the game was those little text flashbacks where you read stories about Kaim’s past.

I thought the actual gameplay part of the game was really dull. Battles took like 15 seconds to load and the attack animations were wayyyyy too long. It felt like I was being punished every time a random battle triggered.

No thanks. I think this game got most of its praise from gamers who were butthurt about mainline Final Fantasy abandoning “strategic” turn-based battles + world map.

It's a better fantasy than anything we've gotten since FFX

Peoples were harsh as fuck on it back then glimpsing through some, "it's not mass effect!", which is telling how much a phenomena Mass effect was back then but really, I wish jRPGs had more of Lost Odyssey.

They could totally make a sequel to the game. I think the creators are still alive.

Also, buy this or I will kick you in the genitals.

Overrated trash game, tbh. People just were starving for Xbox's own Final Fantasy. This ain't it. Would play any of the modern FF titles, even the worst ones, over this title.
