How about it working with NG? I would like it for action games and FPS. Mainly I want the old one cause the stick placement of the new one is really messing me up.

Thanks guys, I just noticed the back of wiiu boxes shows what is compatible and I don't see that controller as an option on most games. ME3, darksiders, ac3 show that it won't work. Forget it then

Works with Xenoblade and Monster Hunter, so I'm assuming it works exactly like it did with every Wii game that supported it--since the Wii mode is supposed to work identically.

Well, I played it thanks to a relative getting one. It was pretty cool seeing Nintendo games in HD. It took them long enough.

+ The Gamepad works as advertised. Surprisingly light too. System in basement and gamepad can show a picture in some upstairs rooms.
+ Nintendo Land minigames are actually quite fun
- The OS really is slow when switching between applications
- The low battery life of the main controller is a bit annoying (but the lengthy 1st update + account/NNiD setup probably played a role in making actual play-time seem short)

To be fair to Nintendo, that story doesnt list a year.

Interesting that the internet browser doesn't appear to have any cropping on the TV set.

My one complaint with the browser is there is no scroll indicator on it. Like on other devices you can see a scroll "segment" that gives you an indication of how long a page is. Otherwise it runs great. Is it opera based?

Well I got out of work early and decided to try my luck at finding a Wii U for my wife. Went to Target, 2 Gamestops and was headed home. Ended up passing by a Best Buy and gave it a shot. They had 1 basic and 1 deluxe unit left, so I picked up the deluxe. My wife's going to be ecstatic. :)

Now I'm used to the slow os, I am ashamed. I can't believe what I've become.
And after using the UPad, when I'm back on my iPad, I can't stop reaching for that R button....

The only thing that bothers me about my Wii U, literally the only thing </biden>, is that the bottom left corner of the gamepad occasionally seems to have some play and creak a bit. Really wish I had access to screws so I could tighten that thing up.

Right now that's my biggest complaint with the web browser. No scroll indicator. I have no idea if I'm in the middle of a page or near the end.

Also, if I hide the menu bar at the bottom of the page, it should STAY hidden, not reappear EVERY time I load or open a new page.

Finally, I wish you could customize the controls, I'd prefer to scroll up and down pages with the right analog stick instead of the left one.

That's my biggest gripe with the browser. Such a weird design decision.

How does it generally work? The US Wii U is English, French, Spanish and Portugese. What do they typically offer in the way of languages in France? Do the French still have a stick up their asses about including anything related to English?.

Or maybe you shouldn't have a stick up your ass about your place of origin and think that European Wii U's will only support languages important to the Americas. Just because you speak English doesn't mean the whole world does. Or do you also believe there's no Japanese support on the Wii U?

Anyone from france here? I ordered a french wii u....will it be any different than say....a UK one? I sure as hell hope there will be an English option, if its in french/or the games are then Im cancelling it

Nintendo doesn't manufacture different hardware for every place, you'll be able to select English. The only thing you'll need in addition to that is another power cable (if the Wii U uses a regular detachable cable) or mains adapter (both are very easy to come by).

Regarding games, this depends: Nintendo games typically include multiple languages (English included) - you're pretty much safe with NintendoLand and NSMBU, based on previous experience. But with third parties, you'll have to do the legwork yourself. According to the Amazon.fr forums, Assassin's Creed 3 will include English language support, but not Black Ops 2.

My system finally made its way to the UPS station in my county. Unfortunately, I won't have it in time for this holiday weekend :( -- but it's almost here.

Well guys, I'm feeling the effects of the stupid network id thing. I saw that Walmart has some deluxe sets in now. I work there so I get a discount. Well I would be paying the same amount at Walmart for the deluxe set with my discount as I did buying the basic set at toys r us. I stressed it over and decided it would be stupid for me not to get the deluxe set. So now I have to make a new network id and everything :-(

Well, as long as you didn't buy anything on the store you should be ok, just have to figure out a new username.

Walked in and picked up from Walmart . really surprize with controller , much better than I thought.

It's downloading data for update and its been 20min? I can't do anything meantime. So is it just my system taking this long?

Um... ok... Someone asked if French Wii Us would support English. Baconsammy responded that US Wii Us support several languages, so European Wii Us should, too; unless France fights language options. Nintendo obviously does produce different software for regions. Japanese is not an option for US Wii Us; unless you think Japan only speaks languages important to North America.

Difference is that Japan and NA are two seperate console regions. France and UK aren't.

Why would France "fight language options" When has France every fought "language options"? That's a really stupid assumption.

And why are you explaining to me what I just wrote?

Exactly.

Quick question, does anyone know if the Wii AC adapter works with the Wii U? Going over to my parent's and want to take the Wii U but the less cables I need to take the better.

Baconsammy said what he said either to point out how silly it was to ask if a French Wii U would have English support or he wondered if France would really do something like that. There have been French-only videogame translations, and Quebec has a crazy law that makes English games illegal if there is a French version. It's highly unlikely that would happen with a console, though.

OK, something weird happened to me... I set my Miiverse profile comment to:

"Violator and subject to severe penalties and will be prosecutedt to the full extent of the JAM"

Which is an awesome quote from the startup screen of various CAVE games that I think is pretty hilarious. And it was deleted by an administrator for having inappropriate content. That's just really odd. Not a big deal I guess but... that sort of censorship doesn't even makes any sense.

The overscan occurs even on 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. It occurs on 4:3 and 16:9. My tv is native 1368x768 or something. It's a Sony Bravia KDL40S3000 and even in full display area it cuts off. It's a wii I software problem. The Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 doesn't do it.

Gonna assume English isn't your first language and you simply misunderstood the meaning of what I wrote. Relax. I asked the question because the last time I was working in Paris it was a big deal that they were attempting to scrub as much English from foreign products as possible. Because THEY HAVE A STICK UP THEIR ASS about American culture seeping into France. It's not something I made up. It's why I asked you an honest question about what languages are generally supported on devices sold in France.

Edit: my bad, you're not even the guy that I responded to. If you can't follow a conversation, perhaps don't jump into the middle of it.

The main reason games are sometimes not multi-lingual (happens often with French or German) is typically lack of disk space for one SKU (Xbox). Publishers then decide to keep all versions equal (some games are multilingual on PS3, but not on Xbox - Hitman Absolution, for example).

Another reason might be to deter orders from other EU countries - games are typically cheaper in France, only having French audio on the disk will then obviously limit it's attraction to customers outside of France and parts of Switzerland.

You are completely misunderstanding the cultural context.

And the EU doesn't allow for import restrictions in this manner, so there is no one forcing manufacturers to produce products in French language. But obviously, people in France expect to read French as much as you expect to read English in your purchases.

And you know that neither is Nintendo an American company, nor is English only spoken in America?

Next time you make an idiotic comment that doesn't answer anyone's question, I'm going to ask for your permission to "jump in" first.

I expect to see English in my games yes. I also expect to see Spanish and French. When I was in France, as I pointed out, they were scrubbing English, or attempting to, from products. Why does pointing that out offend you?

What the f*** are you babbling about? I didn't answer his question. I responded to his question with a question hoping to eventually get to the answer he was looking for.

I have pretty small hands and was extremely worried with it but i was pleasantly surprised. Although my left hand cramps easily when i hold with my left hand and use the stylus, especially on that Pikmin Mini-Game on Nintendo Land.

I love this controller, surprisingly REALLY good range.. I hear people saying they can't leave their room or it barely gets range but it works in my bathroom and even back into my bedroom, guess i have really thin walls?

Think I'll download New Super Mario Bros U. It's suppose to be just 2GB right?

Though at the moment I'm going to be heading out in a bit. Have a reward certificate for Best Buy. Can't decide between Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed 3. I'm leaning more toward ME3 (if there is no online community oh well. I have the RPG bug) but has anyone been playing the multiplayer in AC3? Any good? Good population?

Edit: Nah. Decided to wait more on the trip to the store.

1.8 download. Not sure what it is once its installed.

Maybe you shouldn't display your ignorance on historical events quite so openly.

We should both give up? It'll be a race to see who quits the fastest.

Edit: This is going to seem silly, but we really should put this trench warfare to rest now that the question has been answered. I officially surrender :p

Censorship policies are likely still in flux, moderators are probably too harsh at the moment. This happens with most systems like this, just remember how severe Apple App Store moderators once were.

Wow. Are all Toys R Us this shady? I haven't been to one in years, but I'm here to pick up what may be the last Flingsmash in the city (and only 1:( Feels like a dirty Walmart...

Hmm, just saw the TRU Wii U deal. I don't have any games yet other than Nintendo Land... I may cave they are taking so long.

Yeah... not sure if TRU were always so shitty and I just never noticed as a kid or what... but I've certainly yet to see a clean one as an adult. Having a 2 (nearly 3) year old means we semi-regularly head that way... beats walmart at least.

This launch as delivered pure gold in GAF. The Neogaf Worst Posts Twitter account has me in tears.

I cant wait for Pikmin 3, Woderful 101, Bayoneta 2, and Rayman to come out.
