It goes blue when someone on your friend list comes online.

It's a bit of a pointless feature atm since it flashes so quickly. A notification on screen (showing who it is) would be better.

Thanks, I guess I need some friends! Who would like to add me? I am klier070

I just had my first system freeze. It locked up in the youtube app and didn't respond to pressing/holding the power button so I had to pull the plug. I've used the system for maybe two hours, so it feels kind of bad.

I didn't really expect this from a Nintendo console. :-(

So how should I be treating my Gamepad battery? Am I stuck in an outdated mindset by only charging it when it gets low?

It would be much more convenient to just always have it charging when not in use, but I'm worried I'll drain the lifespan of the battery (which is already short). However battery replacement seems possible and even fairly easy, so maybe I shouldn't worry? A constantly charged Gamepad may be worth swapping the battery out a few years down the track.

I registered a new NNID that I want to use and deleted my original one that I had my Club Nintendo account tied to. I figured that upon deleting that NNID that it would simply let me link to my new one but it's saying that it's linked to another user. Should I give it a day or two or something, or did Nintendo fuck this up too?

Have Nintendo mentioned when they'll be rolling out Miiverse and eShop access to other devices yet? Every time I pick up my iPad I want to check Miiverse on it.

Unless I've just made that up. That was a thing being talked about, right?

You didn't make it up, it's being prepped for somewhere further down the line.

Yeah, I probably would have bought a basic if I could do it again.

The fingerprints on the game pad wouldn't be an issue if it were just the same matte black plastic that's on the back. its only the front face plate that is stupid glossy. The digital promotion is kind of pointless to me now that I know purchases are tied to the console. I'm not buying anything on the eshop until they fix it, which could be never. Nintendoland isn't really a must play game either. The gamepad charger stand is nice though.

Technically, the purchases are tied to your account and your account is tied to your console. Release one and you release the other by default. And believe me, they will.

Also for Australian owners:

I linked my Wii U to my Club Nintendo account, but it still doesn't show it there. Anything further I have to do, or is it just because the sites going through a bit of a transitional period?

A question about Wii to Wii U transfers: I just did the transfer. All of my VC and WiiWare-games were on an SD-card. I cannot play them now after the transfer, and I cannot download them again because they're already on the SD-card. Do I have to first delete all the games (100+) off the SD-card and then download them all again?

Did you unlink the first one from the eShop settings?

I really hope they expand the Miiverse profiles in time. Little things like showing a players game history (with playing time from the log book maybe) go a long way.

Haven't messed around with that myself, but I'd figure it would just use the same information for both--I believe that's how the 3DS does it as well (the connections set up on the 3DS are automatically used, even in DS mode). Plus, if you go to System Settings --> Internet --> Connect to the Internet --> Connections, it should show both a Wii U and a Wii logo next to the connections you have set up, so I just figure that means it's the same for both.

thqanks mate, that. gave me the last punch i've needed to rember that the wiiu said that the connection i've set up wouldn't be feasable for wii software.
problem was: i've selected TKIP, wgich somwhow does not work anymore with the wii mode.
did a new connection to the same router with AES and everything works like a charm now.

the wiiu has to be the pickiest console when it sees a router.

my old wii worked with the TKIP connection just fine. ha...whatever.

I did not, but I figured that deleting the user entirely would do this anyway.
Yeah, I wonder if there's information sent back to Nintendo's database if you delete a user from the console. If it did, then it would make sense to have it unlinked, but I doubt that is the case. There's no way to unlink from Club Nintendo either, unfortunately.

Yikes, just read the IGN review. How did EA botch a football game that bad on Wii U? Goddamn.

How is Pro Evo 13 on Wii U?

I never even consider the type of situation to be true, but I'm believing more and more the Origin conspiracy. Very little effort has been given by EA. Especially after hearing about the supposed "unprecedented partnership."

The "Origin conspiracy" never made a lick of sense to me, seems like a typical case of fan imaginations running wild.

EA did what every other publisher did: Made a cost-benefit analysis and did the minimum amount of work that is going to get them the best return on investment. Statements like "unprecedented partnership" are PR department lines that don't mean anything.

To the surprise of nobody, Japan likes the Japanese Wii U commercial. Nintendo's Wii U commercial ranked 8th out of a list of 2338 brands on air, which asked the 1500 questioned during the period of 11/5 to 11/19 how much of a favorable impression they had of a commercial. The Wii U commercial had a 38% favorable impression rating.

The commercial in question, for those not familiar with it:

I guess that's your opinion, but I don't see how releasing the ME Trilogy on other consoles and simply putting ME3 on the Wii U is supposed to get you more money.

EDIT: I'd normally agree with what you said in your edit, but just thought John Riccitiello saying it meant something significant. Maybe I'm at fault for believing that.

Apparently, Nintendo pushed hard for ME3 on Wii U (of course, that's also straight off the rumour mill). The decision to release ME1 for PS3 was probably made pretty late - porting two additional games to Wii U would mean more work for very little benefit.

EA is in the business of making money, they are beholden to their shareholders. "Holding a grudge" because of something that was never a realistic proposition in the first place is not what (most, seems to be commonplace in the financial industry) public companies do. If they thought porting ME1 & ME2 would likely be beneficial to their bottom line, they'd done it.

I'll probably have to contact them then to get it sorted... Jesus

Started AC3 tonight. My god, the framerate in this thing is terrible. I heard bad things about the PS360 versions too though, so I have no idea if this is a bad port, or if the game just runs like shit all around?

I'm enjoying the game so far otherwise though!

Just got a wii u and i'm updating it now. I also snagged a pro controller and scribblenauts and Mario. I'm torn about opening the pro controller though. Does Mario, Nintendo land, or rayman use it? Think I may return it if not. Bummed you can't use it for the vc.

I'm pretty sure it's the same across platforms. At least, I haven't heard reports of this one being worse.

Rayman yes. The rest, no.

Tell that to one of the largest public company that makes consumer products (I'll let you guess which one). Grudges happen all the time in every single sector of business.

Never mind that politicians hold grudges all the time despite the major financial impacts that can have to EVERYONE.

That's not to say you should believe this particular instance, but you can't write it off as being some sort of impossibility, either.

Politicians are not always rational individuals that act as such, not publicly traded companies that - by law - have to operate for their shareholders benefit.

The "Origin conspiracy" sound extremely unrealistic, and EA wouldn't endanger their performance on a new platform on such an idiotic premise.

I think you mean Apple? When have they ever "held a grudge" that didn't financially benefit them in their business transactions? This is a company that was basically saved from folding by their arch-rival, Microsoft.

The fact that politicking happens inside of company board-rooms as well as different strategies are executed from time to time doesn't mean companies hold grudges for petty reasons in their core operating business.

So you put CEOs and management to a higher standard than politicians, because politicians apparently answer to.... no one? Sorry, you really lost me there.

Never forget! I'm Dumb!
There is exactly one Mii at nintendoland on my home screen at the moment. Are they updating the game or something? Weird.

Yes, politicking and different opinions on business strategies happen inside of board-rooms - but CEO's are not unaccountable gods, and they certainly won't endanger their core business over petty reasons, or they will (if the board does its job) be ousted soon.

Apple fired an employee they though to be under-performing in order to find a person more qualified to deliver a higher quality product in the future. This is normal business procedure.

I did e-mail them, but I tried doing it almost immediately after I sent the message so I don't think it had anything to do with that-- maybe just took some time for the servers or whatever.

It's a cumbersome process but here's hoping Nintendo get it together soon enough. :p

I've only played the game on the GamePad (I've decided to play all multiplatform games off-TV -- runs fine for me

Wii U has changed my gaming habits before Wii U I played one game at a time. I may sit for 8 hours and play that One title... Now for that 8 hour I play 6 different games. Maybe it's just this launch don't remember doing it for Wii though I played Twilight Princess for a week straight without any other game getting in the way.

I put in 6 hours into Skyward Swords and 14 into AC3, 4 into ZombiU, 4 into Mass Effect 3 special edition, 4 into NSMBU, 4 into CoD, 3 into Nano AssNeo, 3 into chasing aurora, 3 into Little Inferno, 3 into Darksiders 2, 2 into NG3, 2 into Trine 2, 2 into Nintendo Land, 2 Sonic Racing, 1 into Mighty Switch Force

some hard locks have deleted the play hours from registering into the log so not very accurate on Nintendo Land and some others.

Hi smiles what's your NNID?

It's been generally fine for me as we'll outside of one battle sequence that choked up mighty good. Just now getting to the open world sections though, will be interesting to see if it continues to hold up.

Need to revisit the game but wrapping up Zombi U first.

When I do the wii transfer to move my store data will it wipe my wii save data? I'd like to move my store data and let my GF keep the wii so she can keep playing animal crossing but I don't want to lose her save.
