So.
I got my Deluxe set at midnight on the 18th. Had it all up and running by 2:30am including all my Wii data moved over.
By 5am, I was loving every aspect of it.
Here's a couple things to note:
1) You can use any headphone and then it will use the mic on the gamepad. This is great for games like COD and such. (or just any headset like from a smartphone...)
2) Since miiverse is so new and you start with zero friends, it will take a while for the plaza's in games and wiiu home screen to fill with other "real" people. But once it does, its pretty cool.
3) You can skip game downloads and go straight into the games while they download in the background. Then once its downloaded you can restart the game to have it install. Very nice and convenient. Too bad the OS update didn't do that lol.
4) I find it FAR better to play games on the gamepad/screen than TV/pro controller. Same buttons but having the screen right in your face is awesome.
5) You may have a rare full lock of the hardware. I think its network related, but it will require you to pull the plug on the console to fix. This seems software not hardware related and should be fixed in an update. Not a concern at the moment.
6) Play with the system and check all settings. There is a ton of things that are not apparent at first that really are neat.
7) Browser is bad ass and best on nonPC yet. Its fast and very useful. Very good shortcuts on gamepad/buttons too. If you find a flash issue, see if the site you're on has a mobile version. That should work fine. (hint: just add "m." in front of the url)
8) Make sure you initiate the friends list, otherwise you wont' be able to add friends. (why its not part of miiverse or automatic, idk) Once its done, finding and adding people is extremely easy.
9) NintendoLand is THE BEST GAME I've played on WiiU so far. The games are incredibly fun and great as solo or with friends. Only downside, is they should have made this game online multiplayer as well. Now you have built-in mics and solid online, it would be perfect.
10) Its annoying that Wii can't take advantage of more than 512MB of storage. I'm still forced to use a SD card. There is no reason they couldn't have tweaked it to use more of the internal storage. Its a minor gripe, but still.
I'm VERY happy with my new purchase so far. There are some launch day issues that will obviously be rectified with patches soon, but that is to be expected. Its also easily eclipsed by the awesomeness of the full features of the console and especially the gamepad. Can't wait to watch MNF (DA BEARS!) while playing games tonight.
