I wonder if Doc goes crazy and offers Griffin the 5 year, 180 million or whatever it is just to try and remain somewhat competitive. It would be really dumb but it would be such a Doc move.

why not just sign with them instead of making them lose assets?

Why would he opt in?

He was leaving for Houston anyways. He agreed to an extension with Houston (after this season).

I don't know how that's going to work, but at the very least it should be entertaining.

Btw... chemistry issues aside, are Steph and Klay still the NBA's best backcourt after this?

Harden ran point this year and they were a better team because of it.

they were a better team because of D'Antoni's offense. Hence why he won coach of the year.

The rockets need another star, you're not going to even compete against the warriors unless they are injured or you get more stars.

Offseason has been crazy and FA hasn't even started.

Good on Clippers at least getting something back if he's really going to leave. Deandre deal next? They have to blow it up at this point - the roster isn't built for surviving without Paul and they have no depth.

Is the Williams referenced Lou Wiliams?

I don't actually love the fit, but if you can get Chris Paul, you get him.

Remember when Stearn vetod the trade for Paul to the Lakers because they wanted to foster better competitive balance in the league?

Ballmer shook, LA clippers back to shit
Jordan x Austin Rivers hype

I don't see how CP3 keeps up with Steph and Klay will lock him down worse than Kyrie

not a bad deal for the Rockets but I don't think this gets them passed Spurs or Warriors. which is scary but that's how good those teams are.

it's a step in the right direction, though!

With the right coach / system Paul and Harden absolutely can play well together. Especially since Paul has been more of a true facilitating point guard. He'll take the focus off of Harden for every play while still being a spot up threat.

Now, whether that happens under D'Antoni is another story.

Yeah, the offensive scheme that had Harden running point. I'm not disagreeing with you that they need another star, I'm just curious how things are going to work with both guys on the floor.

I don't think you can ever have too many ball handlers. If Chris can play alright off the ball for stretches they'll be fine.

I don't disagree with the too many ball handlers part, though that's never been Chris Paul's role in the NBA. They may be able to make it work, but I still don't love the fit. I'll be interested to see what they try to fit around Harden and Paul.
