World of Final Fantasy |OT| Lightning Inside

Uh so just unlocked the intervention quests. What are the icons next to the quests listed about? Are they some sort of currency or something?

Yes, I forget what hey are called but you probably have about 5 or so by the time you meet her. You use them to pay to unlock those quests, as well as unlocking champions to use as summons.

Oh okay! Thanks! Once I unlock Valefor that's the only form I see myself using.

I just caught Valefor from the coliseum, skipped the Cockatrice hullabaloo.

She's pretty useful. Has high agility. Can inflict slow. Has Energy Ray for non elemental mob clearing.

Is there a way to turn off subtitles in cutscenes?

Nope, don't think so. Its KH style, can't turn those off either.

Chapter 12 now, those anime cutscenes really throw me off guard, don't expect them. Very cool.

Can I also say those intervene quests are so hilarious?

Sora is coming as free DLC!

I am really enjoying this game. In fact, I think I like it more than Pokemon, just due to the battle system and the mirage board system. Also love that you can move back and forth between the "evolutions." I'm enjoying the art style, humor, and the fan service.

Also, I thought I was going to be an active battle system person, but I feel like you just really have to know where all the menu bits are and you lose time just moving around. So, I went back to Wait (though I am about to try semi-active just to see if it's a nice compromise).

I know a the-lot of people hate the way that Tama the-speaks...

But honestly, I'm really impressed with Lisa Kay Jenning's delivery with that speech quirk. Never misses a beat. I would personally think it would be quite difficult during recording to ensure never accidentally missing a "the".
Kind of reminds me of Starfire, though I don't think she says" the" that much from either Teen Titans cartoon.

How well are the chibi Final Fantasy characters integrated into the story? Do they just pop up once or twice and never do anything again, or are they fairly active in the narrative? I've heard conflicting things in reviews.

I'd say the former. So far its been sort of isolated appearances where like you'll be going through a location that is part of "x" game and then run into a character from said game and maybe they are around for a bit while you clear a dungeon or something but your not like really gaining posse members non-stop that are just constantly popping up.

At least so far. But I am also pretty early in the game in what is a 50+ hour game.

So I have $30 in my PSN wallet. Should I spend another $30 and pick this up digitally, or buy the LE at Best Buy for $52 w/GCU after tax.

Is the art book worth the extra $20? I like having a physical copy of my favorite franchises, but I'd also like to save money.

I have some questions. Considering buying this but I am not sure yet.

1. How long is the game? I remember SE saying it would be 80-100 hours? That instantly turned me away from buying it but I saw some people saying it is 40 hours? Is this true? I just don't have the time to sink 80 hours into another JRPG again

2. How is the story?

3. Which FF is this comparable in terms of gameplay?

Huge FF fan here so I am curious if this will be worth my time

1. I'm not done yet but I would say that the story is no more than 40 hours long. Doing that plus all the sidequests and endgame would perhaps add another 10-20 hours.

2. The story itself is alright nothing incredible, but overall the game is full of charm, FF fanservice and nostalgia.

3. The game is ATB, but you can use R1 to fast forward. You can set the style to Wait, Semi, or Active. If I had to pick a game I guess I would have to say IX (that was ATB too right?) but not as slow.

I see the Vita version is still broken in the NA store. Yeah, fuck you too SIEA.

Also I'm seeing the English voice DLC but not the Japanese one? If I get a physical copy of the game today, will I be able to play with Japanese voices or is that still missing from the store entirely? (Or is the Japanese track included in the game? I assume they wouldn't put English as the one you need to download separately)

You'll only be able to play with Japanese voices if you get the day one edition of the game.

I'm quite early in the game so I don't know if I can authoritatively answer your questions but...

1. Square did say 100 hours but reviews are putting it at 40-50 hours. I took a quick look at the trophies though and I can certainly see the game taking 100+ hours but that's down to how much of a completitionist you are. The game has a fast forward feature that speeds up both text and battle considerably.

2. I can't really comment because I'm too early. The beginning actually gave me some Kingdom Hearts vibes because it presents you an inkling of *something* going on but then quickly shoves it to the backseat and let's you go on you way. I've heard the story has some moments but overall stays pretty straightforward. Again, I haven't played far enough to vouch for these claims. That's just what I've gathered from reviews. The aspect of seeing old faces and places is part of its draw too.

3. It's like....imagine Pokemon but set to classic ATB, your choice of Wait/Semi-Active/Active. Enemy monsters brought into battle give their associated stack their strengths, weaknesses, resistances, spells, and abilities.

Wait so the Japanese voices really are built in the game but not the English voices?

That's so weird. Not that I'm complaining because I want the original voices anyway, but wow, didn't expect that at all.

Also why wouldn't the English voice DLC work? I'm definitely seeing it on the Store right now.

This is all very confusing!

Japanese VO is DLC for everyone who buys the day one edition. English voices need to be downloaded if you have the vita version because neither English or Japanese VO is on the cart.

In short, if you're buying the game for the Vita you'll need around 500~ mb for the Japanese voices.

Edit: Only the PS4 version comes with the English voices on the disc.

So one of my biggest hesitations was the chibi art style but I got the day one limited edition anyway...

And here I am about two hours in and I must say - it has grown on me! A lot!

Enjoying it so far.

I have captured a tiny shark and put him on my head and his name is Sharkquel and I will never remove him and we will conquer the world together the end

Probably not the best place to ask, but has anyone else ordered the Collectors Edition in UK and not had the game despatched yet? Hoping it's a system glitch...
