World of Final Fantasy |OT| Lightning Inside

I think the trade off is that dudes you transfigure into stronger forms have to learn new skills slowly again but their stats are significantly higher. Like, I changed my tiny Sharkqual into a Mega Sharkqual and while he unlearned a lot of his abilities he also kinda...double my attack and added 500 to my life.

So I don't mind slowly accruing abilities again.

Also Tiny Tifa is so cute it hurts

This game looks fun, but I've never really played a Final Fantasy game before. I got Bravely Default for 3DS and was really enjoying it, but I was put off once I realized that in order to beat the game I had to literally repeat the entire game over again! Would you recommend this game to me? I really want to like the JRPG genre, but there's always some BS that gets in the way of a game I want to like.

Just don't expect some epic story and you should be fine. Its not super long like most jRPG's either.

If you catch big ones later, you can just go and learn stat boosts and sharable abilities on their smaller forms later (except a few specific ones like the non-starter summons). For the most part you can work your way backwards.

Again I really don't think you need to worry about it in the long run. The game is designed to have you switch in and out constantly, rather than have a staple team like Pokemon.

No, you don't. You just have to do the crystals a few times again. All of the other stuff is optional. It takes a few hours at most.

Lol that sure explains why I grind a lot. I've been sticking with Mirages I like and only switching to take advantage of Elemental weaknesses.

Cept for my Sharqual. He's permanent.

AGH TINY RYDIA GIMME

In the sequel we need to be able to stack and use the FF chibis cause they're killing me

I'm right there with you concerning that twist in Bravely Default. That said, I've been pouring so much time in this game. It is a lot of fun and seems to genuinely have a great amount of content. The story is nothing special so far, but the fan service, humor and gameplay are what make it stand out to me.

I actually don't wind up switching in new characters that often just because since they start at level 1 it's hard to compare how they'll stack up to my leveled up guys; you can look at the abilities they will get, but if I already have X mirage that has the same elemental attacks and I can't see if the new guy will have higher base stats or not at an equivalent level I just don't bother lol. At the same time it doesn't seem to really matter all that much since the game isn't really difficult, and like others have said it'll presumably be easy to grind out everyone at the endgame if you want.

I've only played the first four hours so far but I'm blown away by how much fun I'm having. I'm kind of in love with it so far, and I wasn't even that excited about it before release.

Music in this game needs to be talked about more. Hamauzu is knocking it out of the park.
Give him FF16.
Just let him and Shimomura alternate mainline FF games and all will be good.

Fav tracks are battle theme and plaza 99 theme.

This is pretty much how I feel atm. The demo wasn't impressive to me but after the good reviews I went and picked this up and yeah, really enjoying it so far.

This keeps getting better and better but I feel like I keep messing with stacking too much. I actually like the chibi designs but those stacks are weaker, at least with what I have right now.

When you start transfiguring your dudes into Large Mirages, trust me, this will not be the case.

So how good is the Magitek armor? Worth playing through the demo for?

It's just a reskin of a mirage you can already get in-game with slightly different abilities. Nothing special.

It does get you no escape and some elemental beams pretty early. If you've already got the game I wouldn't bother with the demo at that point. If you're waiting for it to arrive, why not.

Finally had some time yesterday and started a new game. I'm not crazy for the cold/too clean visual style but the chibi characters are fine and cute, specially the mirages. It's also quite funny to play and I like the simple gameplay/battlesystem. Soundtrack is top, when I heard the FFXIII-2 music background in the chocobocolina theme I was so happy *.*

Holy shit, that's high praise.

I mean, maybe the dude feels like me in that the last like...3 or 4 entries have been tedious, repetitive, boring and uninspired. I've quit every entry since the last one I finished, Pearl, almost all within 4 gyms. Pokemon just felt very stale and samey to me.

Sun and Moon however look to be changing up the formula so I'm super interested in those.

Also I grabbed every Ice enemy I've found but none of them have Chill. Hrm. Guess I'll come back.

After eyeing off my copy of the game for days, I finally got some time to settle in and play it. I'm absolutely having a blast. I think Square tends to kinda be their own worst enemy when it comes to demos/trailers sometimes, as the demo nearly put me off getting the game. (Thankfully they've gotten their shit together with the FFXV advertising recently, but the demos, yeesh.) I don't think they quite showed WoFF's strengths in regards to humour with the previews - the game is fantastically dead-panned, and not quite as pun-filled as I was expecting.

I'm genuinely surprised how funny the game is, and that most of the humour isn't slapstick. The flavour text is fantastic. I had a good laugh at Serafie's and Tama's first scene together - (and I'm paraphrasing badly) -
with Serafie complaining that she raised Tama better than this, only to have Tama scream back that Serafie didn't raise her at all. Serafie basically going through Terms and Conditions with the twins was great, too.
WoFF also my favourite version of Princess Sarah by a mile, it was funny seeing her struggle with Lann's colloquialisms. I'd been hopeful from the trailers, but I'm really pleased how the FF ladies have been realised thus far, along with the new additions via WoFF's supporting cast. I'm still pretty bitter from Dissidia, poor Terra.

...also, the first ten minutes of the game were some creepy-ass nightmare fuel. The hell.

Hamauzu's soundtrack is wonderful. The character animation is consistently fantastic, too, I'm really surprised at the quality level of the animation for a spin-off. I'm having more fun with the combat than in the demo, and I think the main menu has a lot less lag, too.

Just. Wow. I'm really pleasantly surprised all round.

The game is quite addictive! The writing is clever and snappy, the soundtrack is gorgeous, and the gameplay is fun. There is a demo to give you a taste, but I nearly didn't buy the game because of it, so I'm not entirely sure whether to recommend it or not!

Game is a very nice first iteration, but it's not better than Pokemon, that's a huge stretch.

Guess I'm the only person who isn't wowed by the soundtrack. I think I'm 18 chapters in and I couldn't hum a single track. All the remixes have been pale imitations. Not even close to Dissidia remixes. Hamauzu really doesn't do it for me.

If humming a catchy tune is how you judge musical quality, I don't think you'll ever like Hamauzu's work.

No, but music does need to stand out and be memorable. I can immediately recognize basically any tune from FF I to IX. I could name maybe five of Hamauzu's tracks. And then his remixes somehow manage to drain the original FF tracks of their spirit and they just become background noise rather than music. If I immediately forget music after listening to it, it doesn't work me me. Not the same as being catchy.

Just saying, Hamauzu as a composer tends to focus on harmony, orchestration/instrumentation, sonority, rhythm to a certain extent. Melody is not a primary concern of his, especially compared to a composer such as Uematsu who cut his teeth on the limited resources of 8-bit consoles. I really enjoy Hamauzu's work and the complexity and atmosphere he brings to his compositions, but I can understand why some people would not appreciate his approach.

Hamauzu didn't arrange the FF pieces. And he isn't the type of composer who writes music that's immediately accessible. It has layers that you have to uncover (which to me makes it more interesting than just having a good tune).

I've always thought the two should collaborate more. Uematsu is the better melodist but Hamauzu outclasses him in every other aspect. I think they'd fill each other's gaps very nicely.

Really doesn't mean much to me. If your music makes no impact on me, I'm not going to love it, and I won't go out of my way to listen to it more in the hopes of potentially discovering something more about it. I'm not going to remember a single track from this game after finishing it. For me that's a must for a good soundtrack. e: I'm also not saying Hamauzu is bad, if you love him, great, but I would prefer almost any other SE composer over the guy for me to like the music.

I'll listen to math rock and discover new things about the songs each time, but I'll always like it from the first listen.

best character in the game

English VA is fantastic.

Cant wait to play more World of Serafie.

Ok, so as I've progressed through the game I now have a Misshiva and an actual Shiva from the main story. Does Misshiva transfig into a Shiva? If so is the main story Shiva better or worse based on the unique ability alone?

How do I transfig my korrigan into a malboro menace? The mirage board says to obtain ???. Anyone know what that mystery item is?

So if I get the bad ending, can I go back and get the good one from the last place it saves or anything like that? I don't want to look stuff up about how to get a good ending, but I'll have to if I have to run a whole new save to get the good ending if I don't get it first time.

I think you need the memento. I think it's in one of the secret high level areas. Should be in the
swamp where Snow was.

If I remember correctly
there is one ending and then you go back and get the true ending.
