World of Final Fantasy |OT| Lightning Inside

No no, I'm sorry, my shock was that you could do this. I figured it out when you said it.
I remember seeing the option for Battle Theme when I first started but never put two and two together that this was how they unlocked.

Such a game changer. This game is really exceeding all my expectations.

2 things I'd like to share

1. If you press O, you can skip the victory fanfare celebration post battle. It has to be Circle, not X, not TouchPad etc.

2. After you've unlocked the champion medal summon and purchased it from the Tea Room. Their battle theme will be selectable in the config menu in the menu screen. Rocking FF8s battle theme right now. Also, turn up music volume in the config menu, IMO it's kind of muted.

Quoting for new page.

Also, because of this, I can now listen to that awesome Warrior of Light theme. Anybody else with distinct memories of playing FF1 on NES? I was like 6-7 years old. Played it on my older brother's NES, in like 1994 or something. I also remember that game improving my reading skills lol.

People playing this with Japanese voices are missing out big time. I'd say most of the charm is on the English voice work. Really solid job here, charming and funny. Even people hanging around while I played seemed to pay a lot of attention to the game's dialogue, more than other games.

Meh, no. The English dub is easily the worst thing about this otherwise pretty great game. It doesn't help Lann is such a doofus and the humor is so hit and (mostly) miss.

How does transfiguration work? Should I finish the mirage board completely before I transfigure? Also what do the unlock new mirage board nodes mean, I thought you unlock the transfigured mirage board after you transfigure the mirage.

Ultimately it depends on where/when you want to play it but the game is a bit laggy in the cities and far less pretty on Vita.

My understanding is that you can unlock the next board without transfiguring - its a grid note to do so but doesn't transfigure by itself - but that to transfigure and use the next board you have to have unlocked the node and gone to see seraphie or whatever its called.

It's not like Pokemon where it's one and done. Transfig just means you can choose what form. It's not permanent. Stat boosts carry over from mirage boards, you can work on whatever mirage board you want in whatever order.

oh my god

Playing it already!
As usual I like the story, the art style and EVERYTHING about it!
Just the ATB gameplay system has a little bit of weird feeling at first but then I adapt to it.

What.
You can change the battle theme?

raw

Fuck it. I'm ordering the game.

so i read and watched some reviews

and it seems that this gets monotonous and mostly just mash happy slogging through random encounters within 15-20 hours within the game

anyone here vouch or dispel that?

Sort of true. I wouldn't go as far to call it monotonous, but the combat doesn't particularly evolve. The game still throws you new mirages to catch constantly, so you've always got those puzzles to solve but the core gameplay loop doesn't really change. Surprised at how few stack bosses there are, because they mix things up nicely.

Also there are a few enemies and bosses who are just damage sponges. With how AP recovers you might as well just auto attack and occasionally heal.

Oh and at a point you can reduce the encounter rate but I haven't seen a way to completely turn off random encounters.

Read my post on the previous page.

And yes, I'd rather play this then a Pokemon game as I have no interest in multiplayer and the single player holds my interest much better.

Is there ever going to be a way to topple enemy stacks without causing damage? I can't catch half the things because my team destroys the stacks too fast, in one hit often. I've had some luck with unstacking and using topple attacks interspersed with Cures/Potions, but sometimes it just doesn't work.

Sylph has an ability called Tickle that causes high stagger and inflicts very little damage.

I wanna play the JRPGs you're playing that actually have better dubs/localizations than this.

That other JRPGs are as bad or worse doesn't make this good. I usually pick the japanese VO when available, but here it's without vouced fmv's so I'll settle for the regular cringe.

I found the dub in what I played of FFXV better btw, and stuff like Ni No Kuni is miles above this one... It's in part the terrible writing at times though (and especially the need to explain the punchline if every joke with Lann going: "It's not??" Or something like that)

I played the demo and that didn't do much for me but after reading all the positive reviews I caved in and bought it and I must say that I am absolutely positively surprised how fun the game is!

I'm liking the story and dialogue a lot, it's quirky with a lot of humor, I thought it would be cringy but I think it's actually pretty good I'm getting a lot of laughs out of it and it keeps me interested.

So far the battles are a bit binary and easy but collecting the mirages and leveling them up is fun, I do hope there will be more challenge later on though.

Not regretting my purchase one bit, great game.

Completely agree.

Same, the English voice work is killing it. If people don't prefer or like the style that they're going for I can completely understand but to claim it's actually bad is very inaccurate. It just is attempting a more embellished and cartoony style which won't work for everyone, but for the humor it uses it's very effective. The direction is actually really good for a localization which is a nice change of pace.

I also find it very impressive that they got most of the original English voice cast for the characters back even if they don't speak a lot.

Also, if you find yourself killing stacks before you can topple them, go in with weaker Mirages and heal the stack if it gets low. I haven't had to do this much though.

I need some help, I'm at Chapter 7 and everything is ok except once I get toppled I'm done.

Any tips for when you get unstacked in battle?

Use a Wobblestopper or similar skill so you don't get toppled in the first place.

Alternatively, unstack yourself so you don't get topple stunned and can restack faster.

Unstack before you topple and stack again asap. Or use a mirage with the Balance ability to rebalance your wobbling stack

If you have a wobblestopper use those before you get toppled since it'll reset it.

If you're getting toppled in one hit from Tower Breaker you may need to increase your stability.

You can actually unstack early if you need to mitigate damage from it, also unstacking will also accelerate AP gain/recovery.

How do you unlock the FF7 battle theme? Sephiroth does play it when I summon him but it isn't in the options like the others. I guess Tifa should unlock it but will I get the one that plays when I summon Sephiroth?

Holy cow thanks for pointing this out! :)

This game is so much more fun than I ever thought it would be. I'm having a blast with it so far! I laugh a bit everytime I summon Sephiroth, I just love watching him all serious and stuff, gracefully touching the ground with his chubby legs.

What's the consensus on the Vita version? It's probably a game I'd mostly play on remote play anyway. But should I buy the native version or PS4 version?
