World of Final Fantasy |OT| Lightning Inside

I'm absolutely loving this game. Played a lot yesterday, and finished the Cornelia segment. Found out about the bonus Mirage from the demo after that, that can only be accessed from a New Game started after completing it. Part of me's gonna be bitter about that forever. I hate this new "exclusive in game content from demo" trend Final Fantasy has been doing recently since LR. I usually avoid demos to experience the whole game first.

Just picked this up (for PS4), and wow, the menus feel unresponsive. Like there's a ton of input lag and these screens don't manage more than 30fps. It's a pretty unpleasant trait in a totally menu-based game.

Squeenix games in the PS2 era had extremely juicy 60fps menus that responded instantly to your commands, it just feels sad that they've fallen this far.

Having said all that, I am just the right market for FF fan service so I will grin and bear it for now.

Love the Reaver Mu one---I was wondering why it was called that and, BAM, got my explanation.

But what game did the Reaver Mu appear in, can't seem to find any info on where that localization happened in a past game.

Same, the English voice work is killing it. If people don't prefer or like the style that they're going for I can completely understand but to claim it's actually bad is very inaccurate. It just is attempting a more embellished and cartoony style which won't work for everyone, but for the humor it uses it's very effective. The direction is actually really good for a localization which is a nice change of pace.

I also find it very impressive that they got most of the original English voice cast for the characters back even if they don't speak a lot.

Yeah the English voices are sooo much fun. Great job by the VAs and voice direction so far. And a ton of it too.

So catchy.

The localization is fantastic; even though the opening was really cutscene/tutorial heavy, I didn't mind since the character interactions are so fun. I do notice some menu lag, which is a bit annoying, but the game is so charming overall that's only a small complaint.

"River Belle" gives it away, it seems to be referring to Crystal Chronicles. Specifically, it seems that the Mu that show up during the Giant Crab fight are called "Reaver Mu" but I have no idea where that info comes from.

Weird, I figured it'd be an error in a classic NES or SNES Final Fantasy, not a fairly modern one.

So catchy.

It's my current set battle theme.

Also, one last time on the new page:

1) If you press O (circle) you can skip the victory animation post-battle to speed things up. Must be O, no other button works oddly enough. *PS4 *only

2) After you buy a champion medal from the tea room, that summon's theme can be set as your battle theme in the config menu.

Tried the circle button thing. No dice. I'm on Vita.

Why use the word "honk" as a sort of trademark for Lann? What a weird localization decision. "Dude" fits well, though.

Stupid bomb boss exploded and killed me.

On chapter 16 I think? I'm completely clueless right now, had the day off so I got well over 6 hours of game time in... Got lann and reynn to 40.

Can someone explain me how transfiguration works? What I mean: do the "pokemon" evolved keep the skills and stats he learnt before? For example little chocobo has cure while middle chocobo has raise. If I transform little to medium do I keep CURE as an active ability together with the new acquired raise?
thanks

No you don't keep your moves. Any moves on Chocochick won't transfer to Chocobo. I believe that the stat increases do (when you transfig but not when you go to a different mirage board) and they increase your sync gauge which also boosts stats every 25%.

You can also transfig back to Chocochick to work with your stacks if you need a S mirage which is super useful.

Loving the game so far. I'm eight hours into it while it's not particularly difficult, I'm still coming across a moderate challenge here and there to keep the combat engaging.

The story and writing were a big concern for a lot of people, but as of yet I can't really find much wrong with it. It's a bubblegum story aimed at a younger audience, and while it's nothing terribly original, it serves its purpose and is interesting enough.

The mechanics all seem to be pretty well thought out, nothing horribly inconvenient has happened as of yet. Only problem I run into from time to time is picking a fight I seriously can't win, such as
when I stumbled into two Holy Dragons in Icicle Ridge 😅
In hindsight though, it's was pretty obvious I wouldn't stand much of a chance just from looking at them, and the game gives you fair warning about where the really challenging battles lie.

Why can't I imprism this damn Cerberus? It's on a sliver of health and I've tried over and over again but it never stays in the Prism wtf.

Edit: I just killed it because I used all of my 15 odd Frigicites trying to capture it.

So fucking dumb.

You should have gotten it's memento for defeating it. Just train a White Nakk up to a Cerberus. It is a longer but better option as it ends up stronger than the one you would of caught.

I started doing some of the intervention quests, and as everyone has said, they're even funnier than the main quest line. I just finished the Icicle Ridge quests, and they were hilarious.
Sherlotta, Refia, Shiva, Undead Princess... 'hex life'... too good
. It's a depressing thing to say, but it's so rare to have so many female characters in a video game being funny together. It was really refreshing.

I finally got lil' Shiva and lil' Ifrit, too. 30mins of grinding wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think I ended up overleveling slightly, and of course my Black Chocobo learnt Escape in the battle I caught lil' Shiva.

Curious as to how everyone is finding levelling to work out?

I've not really had to stop to grind at all yet. I've found that as long as you properly explore each dungeon, don't run from fights and imprism a good mix of mirages, you end up being a good level as you come to each boss. Not massively overpowered so that it's all a cakewalk, but not under-levelled so that you feel like you're beating your head against a wall.

I am exploring dungeons completely but not doing any grinding and I'm finding myself accelerating away from the enemies. The first few hours of the game are a little stressful combatwise but since I really started rounding out my team then I feel like I am getting stronger faster then the game is. I haven't wiped on a boss as of yet although I understand from posts here their is somewhat of a difficulty spike coming up so I am always prepping for that.

I find that if you adjust your line-up for each dungeon then the game is a cinch. New Mirages thankfully level up pretty quickly if you swap them into your team, and there's a relatively limited pool of enemies in each dungeon so it's not hard to adjust for them. The main issue is getting through the very clunky Mirage Board upgrading (why you can't use R/L buttons to tab through Mirage Boards while you're in them I have no idea...).

For instance, I've just done a dungeon where (minor spoilers about 9 hours in)
every enemy was a "fire type"
. I built my team to counter that with at least one being resistant to that type and one being strong against it in each stack, and breezed through with little difficulty. Hitting an enemy with its weakness increases the amount of AP you regenerate, so the boss was just a matter of thwacking it with the same skill over and over again; it could barely damage me thanks to my resistance setup and I had healing spells/items anyway.

I haven't been tackling any of the Murkrifts yet and I've only done a couple of coliseum fights and interventures so far.

Speculation re: interventures -
is The Girl With No Name supposed to be Neon from Sigma Harmonics? The grandfather clock, the background music, the butterfly motif... seems that way. She also has the same voice actress in Japan as Neon.

Actually, only moves and abilities displayed in the Abilities list in green are locked to one form, typically things like signature moves – others can be used by any form on the same Mirage Board.

Incorrect. This is correct:

Actually, only moves and abilities displayed in the Abilities list in green are locked to one form, typically things like signature moves – others can be used by any form on the same Mirage Board.

So when you level mirage boards of transfig forms you're not using, say you're using a Chocochick, you can go and level stats and skills like Raise and Critical AP Hike on the Chocobo board which will carry over all forms.

I like catching everything everything in a Dungeon before moving on. It causing me to get overleveled for the next area. Catching the Cactrot was difficult as I had to grind a new Mirage up a few levels.

Now I am trying to catches the Dragon in the ice area and I need to going the pale bonnetberry up another 5 levels to learn banish. I fear I will be over levelled for the next area which I think is the
moogle Pirate ship.

Any recommendations on what Mirages to bring?

Any recommendations on what Mirages to bring?

I'd recommend you move the story forward a bit and get a Mirage in Saronia Harbor, the
Mimic
. Then backtrack and grab the dragon. Remember that you don't need to learn elemental attacks to have one because stacking a S and M on Reynn/Lann's (L) head will alter their respective physical attacks to the predominant element of that Stack. For the Holy Dragon, I captured it with Lann as a healer and Reynn with a
Red Bonnetberry
(DLC version of the Pale Bonnetberry) on top of the
Mimic
from Saronia Harbor, which changed her physical attack ability to Holy. (You don't need the
Mimic
, but it is a strong M sized Mirage with a lot of compatibility for Good Stability stacks, so you'll want to start leveling it ASAP.)

For Saronia Harbor itself, Lightning attacks are a safe bet. You'll also need Water Resistance on S+M stack to trigger a switch and a Mirage that knows Sizzle. Flutter is optional but welcome.

I'm missing a Mirage from Icicle Ridge, I'll have to go play after my kid takes off to school and figure out which one it is. That spreadsheet Xevren dropped on the end of the previous page may help if I can get it to load. ETA: it loaded, it is the Left Claw, I heard that's easier to find in a later chapter, so I'll wait.

I'm also mad at locking myself out of a naturally obtained Bihydra, hopefully I can Transfigure the Dualizard to one at 24. The highest one I have right now is 21.

Finally got a mail from Amazon regarding my order...should be delivered on Wednesday.

Doesn't bode well for FF15 :( I'm going to have to wait for a week before playing that one too :(

So something interesting about the transfig. concept.

If you are leveling up let's say a white nakk, which leads to white fenrir which leads to cerberus, but you also then capture, or unlocked a black nakk mirage. You can take the original white nakk and transfig it into a black nakk, which would inherit all the levels and SP points you acquired into the white nakk "family."

Now, while stat nodes and abilities of the black nakk and black nakk "family" won't carry over to the white nakk "family" - the sync bonuses will.

Also, know this, so that let's say if you want to start leveling up a black nakk. Don't, just transfig your white nakk into a black nakk and inherit all the SP points.

Same thing goes for things like paleberry to baby tonberry. They are of different "mirage board families" but you can go between the two and have them share the same SP pool. It makes far more sense then having a separate baby tonberry and paleberry. Unless you want two of those at the same time in your party lineup. Then in that case you would have to level up each separately.

Same thing applies to black chicibo to let's say, a white chocobo or a regular chocobo. They are initially separate mirages to capture, but once you start unlocking transfig nodes in the mirage board, you can jump to each other mirage type and utilize the same SP/level pool.

TL;DR

I noticed this when I realized that while the black chicibo has only one form above it (the mid size black chocobo) in the mirage board, but when I press the options button to look at it's transfig forms, there are like, 6 slots. Any form in those transfig slots are variants of the mirage, that all share the same SP/level pool. So if you've been leveling up a black chicibo, and you've captured a mid sized regular chocobo. There is no need to level up that one separately unless you want both separately in your battle lineup. Just transfig you're black chicibo to the regular mid sized chocobo. And even though they won't share stat bonuses and abilities because they are in a different 'family' of the mirage board, you can inherit all the SP points from your black chicibo to the regular chocobo. And, sync bonuses apply to everything. Even if it's not under the same mirage board 'family'

I'm glad I noticed this fairly early on. I fear I would have spent a few hours travelling with both a white and black nakk before I saw that they can be turned into each other otherwise. Although I didn't know that the sync bonus carried over so cheers for that, I'll have to make sure all my favourite chaps with multiple transformations are all stat pointed out correctly.

On another random note, are their any mirages that are good for destacking stacks without causing a great deal of damage (preferably none.) Ever so often I run across a mirage I want that is in a stack but often can't get the stack to topple before I do enough damage to destroy the entire thing.

Sylph's "Tickle" ability is great for this.

Hopefully. My Pro should arrive on launch day if Amazon knows what's good for them :-P

Just got true ending. Now time for the clean up grind.

Cloud and Squall dancing
during the credits fucked me up. lol

Just got it myself. Just shy of 39 hours.

Oh, and anyone who wants to get diabetes from the after credit scene can watch this:
