In the 3 years I have been in my university, I have seen countless Halo/Halo 2 tournaments, from the crappiest tournament organized in a basement to the biggest tournament organized by MTVU . What I noticed is that the majority of people do not give a rats ass about the story, the music, or all the "geek" stuff. They just love the multiplayer. To make it clear, the 4 members of the team who won the MTVU tournament in 2005 did not even know who the Arbiter was. Heck, only 2 of them had finished the campaign, and apparently it was just because of the coop. There is something going on with the gameplay of Halo that other games lack. I do not know what it really is, but it has the power to attract hardcore and casuals alike.

Does this mean the Burger King is in Halo 3?
Of course, but it brought a fuckton more people with it.legend166 said:Really, I think Halo is what the Goldeneye crowd moved on to.
It's a shooter multi thing. Consoles are jsut catching up to PC FPS now that they successfully implemented the control scheme. FPS were huge in the PC realm 4-5 years ago.godhandiscen said:Nope, it is not the sci-fi, neither the fact it is a shooter. It is a damn fine game, and thats about it. Hmmm.....I think it's pretty safe to assume the franchise soundly proved itself waaaay before all this hype.

For me, Halo was the next great single-player FPS evolution after Half-Life. You missed that if you didnt play it on Xbox. It was fuckin awesome.legend166 said:Really, I think Halo is what the Goldeneye crowd moved on to.
I know I should get grossed out, but I soo need a burger right now. I have not eaten junk food in a month.JCBossman said:Hey I just got a "King Sized" meal from Burger King, I have no idea why people are saying this isn't healthy?

Yeah it's a shame that the hole is actually a rectangle and won't really fit on any cats. Was really looking forward to the photos with cats wearing the helmets. Dammit.Buttonbasher said:Your cat must have a strange head:

Too hyperbolic. What I meant what that I hadn't played a single player/co-op FPS with anywhere near the scope and awesomeness of Halo, since Half-Life.RiskyChris said:I really... really don't want to derail this thread, so I'm just going to say "wow" and go back to playing the Stranglehold demo.

Think outside the box a little. A tad bit of dremel work would fix that right up.
LAWL @ anyone gouging a $130 piece of plastic to take cat photos.
That I can accept, assuming you're comparing storylines.

Depends on the retailer. Some are still taking pre-orders.voltron said:Good luck dude. Theyre sold out.

Random aside, while looking that up I noticed they have the Halo 3 360 dated for September 16th.
Was going to say that, but you'd have to be crazy to ruin a ~$60 helmet like that.RiskyChris said:*sigh*

One thing that Sony (used to) understand and do very well is brand marketing, and building cachet around their brands. You would never have seen a GT3 or even a Killzone promotion at Burger King.
I think Microsoft still doesn't really understand consumer marketing.
Yeah, unless cats are made of plastic these days.Gadfly said:WTF? He was talking about helmet???
pfff They were all over the place in the food stands in Six Flags. It was so lame, yet nobody noticed. That was truly cheapening the brand.Rhindle said:I'm all for mass-market hyping, but I'm not sure putting Halo on french fry boxes and orange sodas is the best way to go to go. Whatever they're doing with marketing, it's working. Halo 2 day-one sales spoke for itself, and Halo 3 is trying to broaden out to a wider audience. I am concerned that Halo 3 is being pimped out a bit too much, but that has more to do with the merchandising than the promotions. This is the kind of stuff that will help make the launch even larger - which is the goal, of course.Rhindle said:I'm all for mass-market hyping, but I'm not sure putting Halo on french fry boxes and orange sodas is the best way to go to go. Rhindle said:If your sole objective is to get the word out about the launch, then putting it on Slurpee cups is great, sure.
If you're trying to be smart about building a brand that will still be perceived as cool 10 years from now, I'm not so sure it's such a great approach.
No brand has hurt his image for being in fast food. Actually it is quite the opposite.Rhindle said:If your sole objective is to get the word out about the launch, then putting it on Slurpee cups is great, sure.

All which makes "Believe" plastered on Halo merchandise even more hilarious.
