WWE's ratings would have to drop a lot in order for NBC/USA to consider dropping them. Raw still smokes USA's other shows in ratings

They've already gone from 4-5 million viewers in 2012 to barely over 2 million now. They've been plunging since the 3rd hour was added.

I was shocked to see a 30 Fucking minute match at the start of Raw
No bullshit promo just a straight match

Then the stupidness pulled up and that start went out the window

Why is CWC intermixed?, just give them the first hour
Start Raw hour 2 and 3

Fucking stupid to figure out when their matches will come

All that has to happen is USA getting a few hits for raw to suddenly look very exposed.

Really it's a question of who dives into the gutter fastest, raw or usa as a whole lol

right, after the contract is up the rating will be ugly

The money vince gets from them will be ugly.

Vince was way too greedy eyeing that three hour money. Should have remembered what happened to nitro.

WWE has just fucked everything up and I don't know how they can fix it. No one buys into the drama, or kayfabe, anymore or even bothers to try and I'm including the audience in this.

I get its dead but being able to make people suspend their disbelief WHILE THE ACTUAL SHOW IS ON, is essential and shouldn't be that fucking hard.

Instead you get a crowd chanting "you deserve this" at the next big heel champion. It's as if fans don't even want to bother trying to buy into any storylines/characters and that's absoulutly WWEs fault.

They'd need to drop about another, what, two thirds of that number before they're getting the same ratings as other USA shows right? It's possible but I'm not sure if it'll crater that much

We know the TNA core is about 320K

Time to find out what the WWF core is! I'm gonna say 1.2M.

I mean, the debate drew 83.7 million viewers. That it only dropped by 500,000 when it started is like a fucking miracle.

you can't have kayfabe and present the wrestlers out of character at the same damn time, fucking pick one and move on

You see a heel cut some bad guy promo to crickets and then a minute later that same heel is goofing off, completely out of character in some trash WWE Network show commercial. Sorry, but the audience just won't take any of it seriously

wrassling is about suspension of disbelief, just like watching any movie, the WWE has done their best to remind you it's fake and "real" every other segment

It was against a debate that drew Super Bowl numbers and MNF. This weeks ratings mean basically nothing. I'm guessing that's why they basically did Clash of Champions 2. This is why network shows run reruns against that type of competition.

Yes, thank you! Stuff like that should not be happening during the actual show. On the network? On twitter? Yeah, go nuts. I'm fine with that but during the show? Fuck that.

I think they feel they'd be insulting our intelligence if they tried to portray it as "real" but they don't get that most of us WANT to be worked for those 2-3 hours

It's not about what USA thinks, it's about what advertisers think about the rating. If they don't care, they're just gonna spend their ad dollars elsewhere. It could also mean fewer partnerships too.

They should probably try to renegotiate a new contract for a two hour Raw sooner rather than later if it continues to drop.

Aiii

So not worth it

Really? Suits got 1.85 million this last half-season. And that is a show advertisers actually do want to be associated with, as oppsed to WWE programming.

I would say whatever sway WWE has in that regard is rapidly diminishing.

That's a high number.

That many people would want to watch Raw today, the Stephanie/Roman Reigns show, rather than Hillary/Trump or the NFL game. What's wrong with those people?

Yeah, USA isn't going to drop RAW / Smackdown entirely. They may offer substantially less for the rights after this contract is up though. Its not clear that WWE has another way to make that revenue up.

I imagine for the majority of wrestling fans, there is no debate to be had when it comes to their vote.

For the first time since the new brand split draft on July 19 of this year, Tuesday night’s Smackdown Live triumphed over Monday night’s Raw in television ratings.

While the final tallies were close, the end result saw Smackdown earn 2.9 million viewers, while Raw earned 2.85 on Monday night. This is only the second time since 2003 that Smackdown had garnered a higher TV rating than Raw (the other, as mentioned, was the 2016 WWE Draft on July 19 of this year).

Week after week, Smackdown Live was closing in on Raw in the television ratings, and this past Tuesday night the blue brand, carried by three championship matches and the return on John Cena, was the #2 sports broadcast of Tuesday evening, behind the Minnesota vs. Washington State Holiday Bowl.

Obviously the best move here is to bring back Nitro.

Actually bringing back the WCW and Nitro brands instead of Smackdown when thy did the split, and really pushing them as kayfabe separate companies run by Steph and Shane and pursuing that rivarly angle might have worked a lot better than what they have no. At the very least it would have gotten them tons more publicity.

John Cena's return.

I will say yes... and no

Because Cena's return was the very start of SD, and folks clearly stuck around... now it's a bit unfair since we don't get hourly breakdowns so it could be like a ton tuned in for him and left during the 2 hours, but not like they had to wait for the entire show to see him

Vince will go back down to two hours at the next contract review.

The only question will be if it's too late by then.

That's never going to happen, Vince couldn't convince the investors and USA to drop the extra hour that generates extra revenue from ad concepts.

Also, ratings are going down for anything on TV, the wwe is still doing fine with it
