Xbox One S Thread: The S is for Sexy

No, it's gotta' stay!

I'm honestly just keeping it there because I don't want to risk leaving residue or part of the sticker, if it won't come off properly. I also just can't be bothered since it's causing no harm.

At least I'm not like my friend, who leaves the plastic around his TVs and monitors so they'll stay pristine. I'd be too worried -- surely unnecessarily -- about overheating.

It's designed to be peeled off immediately, so there's barely any residue. Would probably be "stickier" the longer you leave it though. Pretty ridiculous to buy a white console that looks as nice as the Xbox S and then leave the black warning sticker on it.

I realized that it had that lip that you're supposed to use to peel when I posted that. It was too late, though.

I won't disagree. I think I'll keep it, though. It's been on there for two months.

Isopropyl alcohol should take care of any residue.

If my fifa 17 bundle came with a free stand then yes I would otherwise.....

How awesome would it be of the xbox light turned vertical/horizontal depending on the orientation of the console.

I keep mine vertical because i dont have a lot of space on top of my tv stand.

Yeah, and what I'm saying is we haven't had anyone running benchmarks for it since Eurogamer did that brief article ages ago. I'm sure people would be interested to know if there was performance increases in something like RDR on BC or Gears 4/Horizon 3, however insignificant it is.

Maybe because it isn't going to make a big difference

It's NOTHING like that, lol.

Ehh...I guess. To some more than others, though. I hardly notice it when I look, but I'm usually about 10 feet away on my bed and can only see the TV anyways.

Think about all that dust that will be trapped on the very-slightly exposed sticky part of the sticker's frame, Chewie.
All that dust collecting there over and over and over, unnecessarily dirtying your console.

So I just picked up a 4K TV (KS8000) and want to pick up an S. I already have an OG Xbone, which I can sell to offset the cost.

Thing is, I also just built a gaming PC and most XBOX exclusives are also on Windows 10. That UHD blu-ray player would be great to have though. Should I still pick one up? Hoping for a decent Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal.

I was in the same boat but I preordered one the day they announced the UHD player which I had wanted since I got the TV but wasn't about to pay $400 for. After selling my CoD AW Xbone it only cost me $100 to upgrade and I doubled my on board memory. Since I already have a good gaming PC I have no interest in Scorpio. I am happy with my purchase

Yeah but don't you go nuts over microscopic scuffs that can't be seen unless your face is 5cm away from the console?

The best way to get rid of any leftover sticker adhesive is to use the peeled-off sticker itself. What I mean by this is if you repeatedly apply and remove a still-tacky part of the peeled-off sticker onto the sticky residue bits on the console, the remaining residue bits should come off the console quite cleanly.

In general, I personally avoid using any cleaners or adhesive removers on plastics if at all possible because you never know if some sort of chemical reaction that ruins cosmetic finishes may take place.

People leaving that sticker on their S consoles are like someone who bought a Ferrari and puts a tribal vinyl kit on it.

I agree with the white console but on the original Xbox One the sticker isn't really popping into your eyes as the console is black. So mine is still on the box ...

My X1 started acting weird, it says that there's an Ethernet cable Ilinserted when I've always used wifi since I got the console

Trying a hard reset currently

Folks with 4K HDR TVs, question.

Does the Xbox One S play 4k HDR mp4 files?

My TV is coming in tomorrow, but it has very limited playback via usb, my comp isn't HDR capable yet, and I won't have a PS4 Pro till the 10th, was wondering if I could hook up the xbox one s to the tv and view those HDR sample videos via that.

Hey mates, I am an Xbot now.

Cant say much about the console yet (White Slim), but it really is a beauty. My starting games are Recore, Ge4rs, FH3 and the rare Replay collection. Hope I can find some time and test the system in the next few days.

My 1TB Xbox One (non-S) constantly crashes while I play games. It works fine otherwise. It is only 4 months old. Should I contact Microsoft, or is there something I'm doing wrong? Is this a known issue?

Well, got my second GoW 4 Xbox One S and still 'clicky'.

I give up, OG Xbox One I'd struggle to tell was on, this thing sucks but form factor/4k/2tb internal are too much to pass on.

Bought the Gears Bundle, how can I dload the old gears games? Or is this not possible wirh the bubdlecode?

Just redeem the code and it will either automatically start downloading or will be in your 'ready to install' list under 'my games and apps'

Edit - just to add, i'm not sure if you get the code in the box with the bundle or not, but if not you should get a message from XBL after d/loading Gears 4 with the code. It can sometimes take a few days though

Enjoy your console : )

Ah okay. Thank you.

System is nice so far. Fh3 is such a beautiful game in every way and recore is also fun.

I was thinking of picking up one of these to play the Forza Horizon games. Should I wait for Black Friday or bite on one of the current bundles?

edit: thank you

To answer my own question, no it cannot. And the TV doesn't do HDR via the usb port (which basically automatically plays one file when inserted and then that's it, no browsing options, so weird).

I'm really hoping now that the PS4 Media Player gets an update on the 10th which allows the Pro to play these files. Just like how on October 13th they came out with an update allowing 360 videos to be played on the PSVR headset.

Black Friday is probably going to have a great deal. I would suggest waiting.

I'm sure its been answered, but does the Xbox one S HDMI pass-through support 4k? eg if I upgrade my DVR to 4k (sky Q or Virgin Tivo v6) will it work or will I have to go direct to the TV?

Could anyone record their xbox one s up close running who has one they're happy with?

Feel like I might be wasting time returning due to this god damn fan noise

I don't have a recording but if it's the clicky sound that you are bothered with then it's normal.

I'm more worried about dust build up since it faces up.

I'm not that bothered by the fan noise. But I think the blu ray drive makes more noise than the fan.

Yeah I just have the clicky noise from the hard drive, my fan is pretty much silent though or at least comparable to the OG. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRMjFbINUcc

This has probably been answered many times in the thread, so apologies if so.

Can I just hook up my external HDD that is hooked up to my current XB1 to a new XB1S and all of my games and apps will be available without having to download them again?

I had no problems doing that.

Yes, you can do that no problem. I did that and all the games were available to play, but I copied the games I wanted to the XB1S internal drive as I'm keeping my launch XB1 for the basement so the external drive went back down there after I copied the games across.

Do you sit close to your console? Like on a computer desk, beside your monitor close? Do you have an PS4/previous Xbox One to compare it too?

So will the console automatically detect my HDR 4KTV when I hook it up or do I have to play with some settings? I'm getting the KS8000 in the next two weeks so just curious of the system's set up.
