Xbox One S Thread: The S is for Sexy

Still have no idea what's causing my NetFlix fuzz on the Xbox One S. It is not there on games or bluray so I have no clue what the cause is. Netflix just has a real fuzz to the picture, lots of noise/snow, even at 4K.

Yes I have fibre broadband and yes it's getting 4K no problem, output to a 4K TV which plays a 4K signal for games so it should be fine. But Netflix just looks off. Sharp and colourful, but fuzzy/noisy too. Any ideas anyone?

Is it dumb that I want to buy one of these primarily for Gears MP? I mean, I have it on PC, but it's already dead over there.

300 bucks for the Battlefield bundle isn't terrible I suppose.

Got the dreaded louder ticking noise with my gears xbox one s. Anyone know how painful it is to exchange with Amazon? Also how does that work given I've already redeemed the key?

Do that rather than deal with MS. They're fucking useless. I was on online chat for over an hour only to end up with a phone number. They spent the whole hour waiting for some person to get back to them and constantly just asked how my weekend was going. Fucking infuriatingly bad, lol. Avoid if possible. I want this shit sent back, replaced or perhaps even refunded ASAP. After the rrod, this sort of shit is exactly why I've steered clear of MS this gen, seems I should have stuck with my original instinct.

Wait a month. It'll probably be $250 with a couple more games come Black Friday.

Couple of quick questions about my son's XBox One S BF1 bundle.

1. Went to redeem the 14 days XBL Gold and said he already has Gold, but yet he can't party chat or anything like that. What's up with that? He can't redeem the code at all.

2. He has a HyperX Cloud headset for the PC. That has an audio and a mic cable. Though the XBox One S has a jack it is only one, so does he need an adapter to be able to hear and talk? GameStop tried to sell us a HyperX Cloud Core but it seemed like that'd have the same issue, no?

Thanks!

1. Check your privacy settings it may be set as a kid account and won't allow him to chat

2 the headset should just work by plugging in the jack no need for an adapter

My HyperX Clouds came with the cable you need but you could buy it seperately, it looks like this I believe it's called a y cable and you need the one with 3 rings on the output

With respect to the 14 day trial, looks like since he was once a Gold member he can't use the 14d trial. Poking around others were affected by this, at least. I ended up getting him a 3mo membership from Amazon and now he can do party chat and BF1 multiplayer just fine.

As for the headset, turns out his came with a 2-to-1 adapter. That should work I think, will try shortly.

Thanks again for the help.

Just picked up an S. The military appreciation pack was just too good. BF1, Halo MCC, 12 months of Live+Access, and an extra controller for $399.

I just hate that the controller and console are olive drab and thebother one is camo because military. They are ugly af.

I've now noticed that I can hear and feel the spring of one of the triggers as I press down on it.

The build quality of this console and controller is so inconsistent.

My god, I love the design but I hate the fucking fan noise. if the console was on my TV stand and I was several feet away I would be okay with it however, I put it 2.5 ft away from me on computer desk.

Also, I have freaking OCD man.... why are there dents/ damages on my console.....

I think I'm ready to fully jump in with the One S. For those who have had it for some time now, how big are some of the game sizes and would it be worth it to grab the 2TB or just go with the 1TB?

I know that the Xbox can use external HDs but Target has a deal this week for 15% off Xbox one consoles so the 2 TB is now the price of a 1TB bundle.

I have heard a few horror stories about games like Halo taking up almost 100GB so I'm starting to consider the 2TB when I wasn't before.

UK GAF'r here, I need some guidance people...

Basically I have access to an offer through work that would allow me to get the 500gb Xbox One S with Fifa 17 and Halo 5 for £166. I already own the games and would look at trading them in.

I also already own an Xbox One but what I want to know is do you think it would be worth upgrading at that price? Ive only got this deal for another 48hrs and I'll be trading in my Xbox One to cover some of the cost..

No, get the cheaper 500GB and buy a 1TB or 2TB drive for Black Friday or sooner. External HDDs work very nice on Xbox One, if it's a good drive it will give you better loading times and may even provide less stutter in games that have wonky data streaming.

After selling the games and your current Xbox One the console will be kind of a swap for your old one at no extra cost, so go for it.

The games are probably around 40GBs or so. It really depends on the game as they can be a lot less or a a little more. Just looking at the back of a few of my boxes it seems most are between 30-45GBs.

The 2TB version will obviously let you put more games on it without having to worry about removing stuff. I have the 2TB version and it will be more than enough for me since the Xbox is not my primary system right now. That Target deal sounds good so I would go for that.

Thinking that's the way to go, looking at CEX Trade Ins I'll get about £150 for the three items so £16 it'll cost me to upgrade and I already have an external HDD.

I picked up my ks8000 this morning and then this afternoon my XB1 S, which was supposed to be here tomorrow, arrived in the mail. Console is very sexy. I was surprised to see that it looks so small next to my white PS4.

FH3 looks excellent w/ HDR. I'm a happy camper today.

Anyone upgrade to a XB1S without making the jump to 4K? I have a 2010 Panasonic Plasma that I'm still holding onto through next spring. I've been eyeing the green BF1 console, but don't know if it would really be an "upgrade" from my launch console. Any input?

I only paid around $100 to upgrade after trading in my original Xbone and some games for my white 2TB Xbone S. I use a 24" 1920x1200 monitor with it and it's just fine.

I upgraded from the original Xbone not only because of the issues I had with it (won't go into it here unless you guys are dying to know), but I absolutely love how the Xbone S looks. The lack of a power brick and adding 802.11ac wireless to the mix was also a plus Now if none of those reasons appeal to you, then I would stick with the original and call it a day until Scorpio comes out.

Saw the S in person earlier, it's smaller and sleeker than I thought it would be from pictures and videos. Goddamn, that's a nice looking console.

Is there any reason or merit to worrying myself about a hard crash causing console damage?

ROTR crashed to dash with an awful loud sound then the system reset itself.

Was the sound coming from your audio source or from the console itself? I've had the crash with audio glitch before and it didn't affect anything.

Nah it happens but rarely, had my first lock up when playing Horizon 2 at launch

So.. what's goingon here.

Got an S and Rock Band 4. The guitars don't have a headphone jack, so I decided to see if the controller still sends out audio even if it's not signed in - it does! So that situation works just fine.

However, it seems the controller will only do it if batteries are in it. If I take the batteries out and wire the controller directly, the option for game volume will disappear completely from Settings and no audio will come out of the controller. If I put batteries in it while not unhooking it, the option doesn't come back.

However, if i start with batteries in it, THEN wire it, the audio will go away for a moment then come back.. is the controller switching to wired power, then? Isn't it supposed to send audio even wired on the One?

I just want to make sure I'm not using battery to listen to the audio so I don't have to deal with controller idling out or anything.

tl;dr controller seems to only enable audio if batteries are in it, wired or not. controller's been updated and i've tried deep power cyling the One itself.

The Xbox One S all white edition is the nicest looking console I have ever owned, I can't stop looking at it! The S most definitely stands for Sexy!

I'm surprised we still haven't had any sort of in depth analysis on which games actually run faster on the S.

Again this is a by product of a new manufacturing process.

Games like FO4 experienced no change, but games like project cars has a 12 percent peak advantage from DF's analysis

Yeah, and what I'm saying is we haven't had anyone running benchmarks for it since Eurogamer did that brief article ages ago. I'm sure people would be interested to know if there was performance increases in something like RDR on BC or Gears 4/Horizon 3, however insignificant it is.

So I just picked up a 4K TV (KS8000) and want to pick up an S. I already have an OG Xbone, which I can sell to offset the cost.

Thing is, I also just built a gaming PC and most XBOX exclusives are also on Windows 10. That UHD blu-ray player would be great to have though. Should I still pick one up? Hoping for a decent Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal.

I'm in the EXACT same situation. I'm dying to see what Gears and Forza (and 4k blu's) look like on the KS8000 in HDR. I already own both on PC so Im almost buying it just for that but waiting on a ridiculous deal.

The Xbox excluisives you get to play on both, means you can still play them if someone else is hogging the TV

Is there something like storeparser which has email alerts for sales? I don't want to miss the next time the Sunset Overdrive season pass gets discounted.

No. Sounds like a fairly typical hard crash the system couldn't recover from.

Yeah, it does.

Was the sound coming from your audio source or from the console itself? I've had the crash with audio glitch before and it didn't affect anything.

Speakers as always. That game has done it 3-4 times since I've first tried to play the DLC.

I've had hard crashes before, but it's only ever reset itself with ROTR. (This was the first one with the S. I used another console before.)

Nah it happens but rarely, had my first lock up when playing Horizon 2 at launch

Yeah, that's true. It just worries me, although I told myself not to obsess.

Take the sticker off you savages 😖

No, it's gotta' stay!

I'm honestly just keeping it there because I don't want to risk leaving residue or part of the sticker, if it won't come off properly. I also just can't be bothered since it's causing no harm.

At least I'm not like my friend, who leaves the plastic around his TVs and monitors so they'll stay pristine. I'd be too worried -- surely unnecessarily -- about overheating.
