Xbox One sells one million+ (sell through to consumers) in all territories worldwide

meh, Ps4 1 million day one in its weakest market> than launching in your biggest market(MS Xbox) + 12 other countries. Next week Playstation's largest market another 1+ million. Not impressed.

FYI, as other people have pointed out these stats were gathered up before a full 24-hour period in areas like North America where the Xbox brand was bigger last gen.

Overall, I don't see how anyone could try and downplay this. IIRC, many in that IGN thread about next gen preorders and week or two ago said that they couldn't seethe Xbox One selling one million in a day.

Both consoles are doing well. Let's be happy and not turn it into a console war.

Geez some of you guys are trying too hard to find any reason to hate Xbox One. It's like figuring out the total of NA sales will help give you that ammunition you're dry on.

As gamers, we should be proud of both consoles doing well and hope the future continues. As fanboys, get out.

So at $100 more, they made $100 million more in revenue?

The revenue is higher than $499 million because European prices are higher than $499 (but we don't know how much of that goes to Microsoft).

We can safely say the PS4 and XBO first day of sales generated together more than $1 billion in sales worldwide.

That means the real number of SKU sold in 24h should be even bigger, that means At least 1.5 million in less than 24h.

Why not at least 5 million?

...

Reasonably, if Microsoft had any expectation of selling 1.5 million units in 24 hours, they would have waited and posted a PR accordingly, since they gain nothing by making people compare their worldwide sales numbers to Sony's NA only. They probably couldn't ship much more than the 1 million they are talking about for launch day.

Good number, solid launch, though clearly they sold less in NA due to the limits. Very interested to hear how many Sony launches with internationally.
Amazon UK will sell through more PS4 than Xbox One when it launches next week. They already said that much, so the trend dhould continue for most retailers in the UK, and I assume the rest of Europe.

Bone hasn't sold 1m units in NA. This is a 13 country figure.

So Microsoft has sold 1 Million consoles day one, world wide.
Sony has sold 1 Million consoles day one, in NA alone.

While I think that Sony clearly won the day one game, it's obvious the biggest winner is the console industry as a whole. It's apparent that people don't just want mobile games, they want a space to game and that is their living room.

What I want to know is what is the split between NA and the rest of the world? If its like 800K in NA and 200K in the other countries that is impressive for NA with the higher price but lackluster for the rest of the world.

Congrats to Microsoft and Sony both having great numbers for launch. Can't wait to see what this generation brings!

It is silly trying to extrapolate anything regarding sales in what is obviously a supply constrained market for both consoles.

Either way, great numbers for both.

Congrats to Microsoft for the big sales. Not even remotely interested in one but the industry needs competition to thrive not monopoly.

And even more congratulations for showing restraint avoiding the "Biggest Console Launch ever" because it's likely the sold more than PS4 sold last week. But it definitely wasn't much because of the "over 1M" doesn't make it sound like 1.4M.

They realized it's NA vs. Tier 1 countries, so that title would be silly and just giving Sony a lot of ammo for another massive PR statement next week.

It is a really nice console. If you has one you would love it.

Hopefully they sell a ton so more games can he made.

EA said they are making less games. Lets worry about that instead of sales.

I hope you have MS stock or something man, because what you do for them for free all the evangelizing is crazy for a consumer.

Not impressed if that figure is world wide. I mean it's good but not awesomely great. PlayStation was only North America. Not to mention there are reports of people still seeing them in store shelves across the US.

They did said over 1 million sales. Also Microsoft sold every single Xbox One it manufactured I believe, they didn't had that much units.

Edit: Or maybe not, according to the above post.

Both these machines will likely outsell the Wii U LTD by March. That's each, not combined. Quite sad really. :(

They should have kept quiet if they didn't sell > 1M in the US alone. Sony did 1M on Microsoft's home turf. It's going to be a bigger bloodbath than Ryse worldwide.

Microsoft were looking to screw gamers. As a gamer they can fuck off.

If MS only did 1 million WW then it's obvious Sony thrashed them in their home town of 'murica.

And all that FUD about yield problems, if you can deliver 1 million+ consoles to retail on day 1, that's not yield problems.

Then why did so many territories get the shaft this year? Sorry, but I'm more inclined to believe an insider who knows his shit rather than someone making that claim based on no insider knowledge or evidence other than a single number (a single number that is much lower than the number of units produced by Sony for the month of November.)

Considering the big lead MS had over the PS3 in NA, these initial numbers sure are disappointing. It has been said before but yeah, 1 mil. in two countries versus 1 mil. in thirteen countries is all but good for MS.

With all the bad press in the past few months and the $100 price difference though, they've done okay I guess. It remains to be seen if the One can continue to sell well. I personally don't believe it can. Here's why: MS has nothing going for the console in terms of games outside of the launch line-up in the coming weeks and months until Titanfall launches. Sony is in a similiar boat BUT the PS4 is the console of choice for multiplat games (more power, $100 cheaper) and will sell well even without major first-party exclusives.

When will get the real number? If this is only preorders then we should expect a lot more units sold.

It's not pre-orders. This is Microsoft's internal tracking(?) of sell through in the 13 countries they launched the console. They say over 1m units have been sold to consumers in 13 countries.
