Xbox One sells one million+ (sell through to consumers) in all territories worldwide

The 1m figure for Sony is only 24 hours as well.

But the news came out AFTER the first day of PS4 sales did it not?

At least that what I remember. I mean, there are many people just getting out of work right now in North America. It hasn't been a full day yet since the Xbox One launch.

Microsoft were looking to screw gamers. As a gamer they can fuck off.

If MS only did 1 million WW then it's obvious Sony thrashed them in their home town of 'murica.

Okay and did they end up screwing gamers?
NO

What's said in the past hasn't been done and people like Don Mattrick already left. They were willing to do lots of 180s because they listened to our feedback.

seriously, two million units sold in one week (not even black Friday!!!) at launch prices is very very fucking good.

I don't think any console sold a mil+ in their launch month before this Gen
You'll see one of them sell more than two million...

Wow, Sony beat MS on NA is pretty big!
Remember when Shu said they were the challenger on NA?

How did you expect Xbox One to match PS4 in North America when it also launched in something like 12 other territories? PS4 launched in 1 territory. Both units are supplied constrained. Stop being so stupid people.

Europe coming launch for Sony is going to be very interesting to watch and analyse. Not because anyone in his right mind doubts the strong demand over there, but because we don't know how many units Sony is prepared to hit the market with.

There is no way they are getting real time data from US stores. This is the shipped figure and the assumption of a complete sell out.

I'm not saying it's a bad figure, it's a good start, but I don't think it is comparable to the PS4 figure of 1m in two countries.

Agreed. I just came back from EB Games across from the Eaton Centre in Toronto. There was a mountain of XB1 consoles available and 0 PS4s.

They are not getting real-time data in from retailers.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I love reading how people are enjoying the system.

As for the numbers, as people have said it's great for the industry (after all the reports of the "death" of consoles) to see the sheer amount of interest and excitement with consumers and the media over this. It's really amazing.

Sony chose a different path for launch, so an apples-to-apples comparison is impossible. We had X number of units to sell and we chose to launch in all our launch territories. Sony had X number and chose to focus on North America. Neither was better than the other.

In this circumstance, comparing our US number vs. their US number would be like comparing our UK number to their UK number. They don't have any in the UK yet, so it's not a fair comparison.

Both consoles I think will be hard to get through the holidays.

And I love how "yield issues" is still a thing. What was the precise number we needed to make for that to go away? There were no yield issues.
The ps4 will beat your sales next week in Europe, plus there is also Black firday. You did not do better than SONY.

Great job on the launch! I'm not picking up an Xbox at launch, but it brings a smile to my face to see the console so successful...Microsoft's success can only mean good things for the health of the video game industry.

You mean like the Tales series? I guess we'll see how much your statement holds true in the future if the ps4 achieves and maintains a 2:1 lead ww for a prolonged period of time...

I think the lack of Tales is more due to the fact that the only Tales game to be released on the Xbox was Tales of Vesperia and it sold terribly compared to the PS3 version.

Don't worry - at the end of next week an apples to apples comparison will be totally possible ;-)

This is forecasted data. There is no realtime data feed for sales.

Congratulations, Albert. It must be a relief for you guys right now to have your product out there after such a long journey.

As for the yield. The latest metal spin at TSMC would be a good figure to work from. I can understand if you don't want to give it out though as it is sensitive information, not just for you but for TSMC also.

That's why I think it's going to be 1.5 million worldwide, Xbox One launch started in New Zealand, after 24 h it should be still night in all USA, less than 5 hours since launch in USA.

However we can compare your US numbers with Sony's US numbers if you released them. We will have to wait until next week to get an Apples to Apples I guess.

Calm down dude, the world isn't going to end either way.

What he is saying is that they would have had to launch in US/Canada only for that comparison.

Well, this was expected anyway considering the strength of the brand in US and UK. Microsoft did well to bounce back from the PR debacle they had earlier. I think long term the PS4 will easily outsell the XOne, but both consoles having a significant install base is good for our industry.

Why do people say Sony numbers ( NA only ) are higher for day one?

Is it because Microsoft will never let up the chance to change the wording to 'biggest launch in console history?'

Interesting how both Sony and Microsoft picked 1 million as their targeted launch shipment.

Both these machines will likely outsell the Wii U LTD by March. That's each, not combined. Quite sad really. :(

The Wii U's sales is at around 4 million. It will heavily depend on how well Nintendo can boost up its sales for the holidays. It will cool if it is a close race between the three for awhile.

So essentially you got beat pretty handily in the US but understandably cannot say, shifting towards the idea that you are beating them in Europe even though they have a chance to beat you handily in that territory too?

Congratulations either way I guess.

Yes, I realize that. Since this isn't real time, then that means that MS had to have gotten it even earlier in the day correct? Possibly not even 12 hours after the Xbox One midnight launches in North America?

Congrats to MS for the great start, good stuff. 1 million consoles over 24 hours in 13 territories is still 1 million consoles no matter how you slice it.

The real and undisputed victor for this month in the US will only be decided in the middle of next month though when the NPD report comes out. Until then we can only speculate until we foam at the mouth, with no real clout one way or the other, so neither side will get any satisfaction until then.

Eagerly awaiting that Playstation family or Xbox family claim to no.1 for their PR announcements when that report for November is released in the middle of December.

Final counts for MS aren't probably going to be out for a couple days. It's still friday where I am. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony did though. MS dug themselves a hell of a hole.

Yes. 1 million PS4's sold in NA alone Vs. 1 million Xbox One's sold worldwide?

It's no contest.

Joke post?

Both launches couldn't be more even. Both sold 1 mil+ units worldwide. Since both companies confirm selling pretty much all their units, it's impossible to say who did better.

Through 13 countries though.
Sony only with NA.

yep it's official Sony got NA back in its pocket.
Thus they gotta understand to not treat us like UK's lil brother AND GIVE US SOME ATTENTION
MAYBE THE PS4 VITA BRACK FRIDAY BUNDURU THE UK IS GETTING HUH SONY?

Because clearly Sony is only going to launch in 32 countries in 5 months not next week, right? Maybe you should start following your own advices for a change.

Europe will be interesting. Largest European launch is only like 325k units in first few days

They shouldn't, but no one is really going to question it. Waiting over the weekend and then giving a figure of less than 1m for a global launch would look bad (assuming they don't sell the full shipment), it's easier to "get away" with this.

They can accurately get numbers for major retailers quite quickly. Best Buy's inventory system is quite robust and it updates hourly nationwide. They could easily see sell through numbers in a couple of clicks so I don't see why it isn't possible
