Is that nightfall/heroic weekly bounty new? I don't remember ever seeing it before (definitely haven't completed that bounty before).

After almost 90 hours I found out by accident that there are some crates on Venus that you can shoot and they explode.

Yeah you can do that in PvP as well and get an instant kill, got a hazardous kill before, poor guy probably didn't know what hit him.

No I remember it popping up and aligning with me needing to do the Weekly before, but it very rarely pops up.

I really want to love this game, but I'm coming to the conclusion that this game just wasn't made for people like me. I'm a father of a 2 year old boy, house, wife, full time job, etc etc. I just don't have the time to grind.

I bet maybe 1-2 hours of videogame time a night after my son goes to sleep, there is just no way I could grind my way to all the materials and items you need to get legendary and exotic gear/armor.

I'm a level 21, I hit level 20 way later than all my friends, and I think I've gotten maybe 4 blue primary weapons, I've never even seen a legendary weapon. I feel like I've played all of the story missions and strikes multiple times over now, and I don't have the spare time to just grind them for gear.

Its a shame because they really didn't bill the game for what it ended up to be (as we all know). I didn't think it would be such an insurmountable grind to see some of the cooler things the game has to offer. And the worst part is that it seems totally random. I have invested a few nights grinding and doing dailies only to end up with basically NOTHING better than what I started with. Once you finish the story and have seen all the content, it sort of relegates the game to those users that just have endless amounts of time to game (which judging from GAF seems like the majority nowadays, you guys play A LOT!).

TLDR: this game is not for parents with full time jobs, and it makes me sad...

I'm a dad of two and step-dad to two others man, I definitely feel your pain. I make me a little nerd list at work of the days bounties/daily heroic and what I want to accomplish with my character for the hour I get to play in the evenings. It seems to work pretty well, as I have a level 28 hunter and a level 24 warlock. Granted, I do take advantage of nap times on the weekend when I'm off work :) I'm loving the game and feeling like I'm putting in a little research/making a plan makes it feel even more rewarding.

I have found several areas on the Cosmodrone that have level 20, 24 and maybe even 28 ultras that are in the world, but you don't really have reason to go looking for them. I figure that they are there for future content, or as some people said, cut content but the enemies weren't removed.

i think they are there not because they "weren't removed". but to hint that this areas are more then its looks to be.

Thorn Bounty.

The void kills part was a horrible miserable piece of shit. I started by trying to use my void fusion rifle but quickly realized that it wasn't going to get me far because I NEVER ever use fusion rifles.

So for control matches with tight areas I just camped the B flag with a shotgun. And bigger maps like the moon I just sniped.

Probably took about 4-5 hours and misery but I finished it. And the last part was pretty easy killing Xyor since my friends and I are pretty high level and I have a Scout Rifle with fire damage so it tore through wizard shields.

Speaking of which

This thing is boner city. Compared to my other scout rifle that has higher damage. The rate of fire on this thing combined with full auto combined with a 29!!!!! magazine clip just shits on anything. And it deals bonus damage to oracles in VoG? Very Very happy with this gun since the Exotic RNG game hasn't been very nice to me.

If you guys are going to throw around "good map" and "terrible map", please provide your reasoning. Having a few bad games on a map doesn't make it a bad map, nor does having a few good games make it a good one. Pick it apart and share what you don't like about it.

I'm in the exact same situation except with a 3 month old daughter and add 9 full-time graduate school. I have reached level 27, but that's only because my mother in law was in town for a weekend when it first came out, so I got some good time to play. Playing a three hour nightfall mission and getting nothing worthwhile at the end is the worst feeling of wasted time.

I love many aspects of the game, but the grind and dependence on the RNGesus is a completely frustrating experience. An experience I don't know if I'll come back to once Halo hits in November, or better games for that matter.

TL;DR: me too.

Edit: Dad gamers unite!

I stumbled upon this area on Venus today, I had never ever before seen this place. Guarded by level 20 elite Minotaurs and inside of area level 22 mobs. Like you can see at end there is energy lift of sorts that would take us up into Vex structure, but it's force fielded off from access.

Here few more shots to give better idea where on the Venus area is and how it's structured.

More cut content?

That's for a story mission of the House of Wolves that will take us to the top of the citadel where we kill the Kell of the Wolves.

Vehicles in this game are just bad. As a result, First Light and Bastion are not fun.

Lol I don't think I need to lay down why Exodus Blue sucks.
Shitty sight lines
Clutter everywhere
It's just looks bad. No inspiration in design.
More the half the time everyone is just cluttered around the middle running with their heads cut off. The rest of the map remains untouched.

Haven't had any issues with the game's servers on PS4, but PSN is the one giving me issues. Why are friend requests and messages glitched/delayed? It loads pretty slow, too.

I'm really hoping it's because they are updating the backend in prep for the new firmware update coming

How much rep does the weekly/nightfall strike bounty give? 100?

It's the Mars one, *sigh*, can't be bothered. The final boss gives Phogoth a run for his money in the bullet sponge department.

Seriously, Bungie, give us the option to buy our factions shaders, instead of making us rely on RNG to get them as gifts whenever we level up our factions rep. It makes no sense that you can buy shaders for the Queen's faction, but you can't buy shaders for other factions.

What exactly are people comparing First Light to when they say that it's one of the worst maps in the game? Shores of Time and Rusted Land are the only good 6v6 maps in this game. Exodus Blue, Twilight Gap, and Bastion are total garbage. Firebase Delphi is almost good. First Light is better than the garbage maps so at worst it's the fourth best 6v6 map in the game.

P.S. The vehicles in this game are really bad.

Edit: I forgot about Blind Watch, but that map is also total garbage.

Daaamn straight! Got that myself. The Solar damage also makes it great against Wizards and Cabals with shield. Or anything else with solar shield.

I have a Midas Multi tool but since I will be using Exotic Fusion Rifle (Pocket Infinity or Plan C) this is my Scout Rifle of choice right now.
Altough I mostly use "The Devil You Know" handcannon. Because heads are fragile.

Exactly this. Complete lack of sense in its design.

In nightfall he's not a sponge at all. Arc snipers will crit for around 6k. He drops in hardly any time if you all bring relevant weapons.

i played crucible for like 3 hours last night and Twilight Gap was the ONLY map I ever got. Even when switching from Control to Clash. Was there something up with the matchmaking servers or was I just really unlucky?

Anyone have tips for playing a Defender Titan in Vault of Glass? So far I haven't found a whole lot of uses for Ward of Dawn. Especially since many of the fights feature "DPS segments" where everyone blows their stuff at a certain time during the fight. Placing Ward of Dawn at this time can just cause people to shoot into a bubble and not hit the boss for a few crucial seconds. And the melee shield perk also really doesn't come into play as staying at a range, is also crucial in most Vault fights. Let me know what you guys have found works.

As someone who plays primarily Control, I find most of the maps have bad placements of the control points. Inevitably two are closer together and easier to defend depending on what team you are on. Some of them are quicker to get too depending on spawn placement. Then you have examples like Firebase Delphi in which B is just a fucking nonstop clusterfuck of grenades and supers with no ability to set up any real kind of defense. It's just who can spam more grenades, rockets, and supers in that tiny contained room.

I've been at 27 for almost a week and finally got my first purple weapon yesterday (from a blue engram no less). About damn time. Still no exotic bounties though >:[

You can use a bubble when taking the shield down at the end of times vengeance to ensure everyone gets out

the pike just needs some fine tuning to its auto aim and bullet magnetism. i don't mind it otherwise.

the interceptor is junk. i've been saying since the alpha how ridiculous it was not just from a design standpoint, but also balance wise. the nerf only neutered it in the PvE section.

the main problem i have with these vehicles though rests in the way the maps are designed. in control, you basically patrol the map in a circle chasing vehicles or people who are spawning until they get in a control point. then you take your vehicle in there and run them over. They're single seater, so there's no risk or intelligent decision making in the way you approach encounters; similarly, it means everyone else can ignore the vehicles and run indoors. With no objective that makes use of the vehicles, it feels like they exist for the sake of existing. The resulting problem then is that we're being spawned on the outskirts of the map to use our Sparrows. This makes spawn killing much easier since we don't have cover or a safe means to return to battle. I don't think I've ever spawned indoors on First Light or Bastion.

Those maps layout-wise are decent, but the design philosophy behind the spawning and vehicle combat is poorly conceived.

Place the shield in the back part of that DPS segment for an escape route. That's what my group did. The relic holder should be further up front to avoid the Ward itself.

Weapons of light.

Nightfall gives 500 rep

I already did the Nightfall strike and level 28 weekly on Tuesday when the servers reset, I just can't be bothered doing it again for the bounty. I may just out it aside for later in the evening when people I know are on so we can get it done in 10 minutes.

if your team is using the center platform to fight atheon, throw down a bubble shield with armor of light towards the back of the platform right before the portal team bails to return to the back of the room. the overshield can save them if a supplicant charges them.

I expected more from the vehicles coming from Bungie considering how many great ones they had in Halo games. Interceptor has that awful delayed boost, its huge and janky, and the firing from each side consecutively is awkward. Pikes are decent.

I got my first ever exotic last night. Hard Light.

Tried it out in PVP and it recoils like mad, does anyone main this weapon? I noticed on the skill tree that you can massively improve its stability which has me intrigued.

Also if any GAF folk want to team up in Iron Banner let me know. I have fond memories of the Beta Iron Banner carnage!
