Why does it feel like the more I play this game, the worse my character gets? Ranking up light levels to take on new challenges doesn't seem to do shit. Leveling up my legendary weapons doesn't do shit. They are still pea shooters against anything on epic, bossess still take forever to kill, nothing feels like it actually has a bigger impact from when I was level 5 even though I am now 27.

Going from green to blue weapons felt like a much bigger jump than from blues to legs and exotics. They are so fucking underwhelming. Unless you go back and play against single digit level enemeis, it feels like your character is still a pussy. I have 1270 defense and get worn down by knights cannon thing exactly the same as I did at lvl 5. The gear stats seem meaningless in this game.

I played a ton this weekend and have nothing to show for it. Did weeklies, heroics, PvP, every bounty available, tiger playlists out the ass. Nothing. Shity blue after shitty blue, and lots of times not even those. What is the point? Nothing is becoming more fun the more I level. If anything, each level I gain is substantially sucking the fun out of this game. Oh good, I need a gagillion ascendant fart fucks to level up some purple shit that does nothing to improve my character in a meaningful way other than make a little yellow bar tick up a notch. I've put in god knows how many hours since the patch and not a single purple engram has dropped. This being all on high level content like heroices, tiger, etc too.

After this weekend, fuck this game. There is so little reward to playing it. My friends and I are so fucking stoked after a hard battle, but it is fleeting, because that hour we just spent was for nothing, so it makes the motivation to try another one shrivel. Our play sessions just got shorter and shorter over the weekend, because no one was moving anywhere with there characters and the desire to play another challenging mission for jack shit was nil.

They really need to fix the reputation/mark system. It would definitely tone down the extreme grindy-ness of the game.

Instead of having vanguard and crucible marks separate, just combine them into one unified currency. And don't be so stingy giving them out. A single Vanguard Tiger run should net more than just 6 marks. A single crucible match should hand out more than just 2-3. When weapons from vendors cost 150 marks, that means you need to grind for weeks just to buy a single weapon. Unless you have nothing to do and just play 24/7.

Reputation also needs to be fixed. You need 2500 rep to rank up each time. Yet the only things that get you quick rep are the daily bounties for 100 each. Why does a trash bounty that you complete in about 5 minutes get you 50-100 rep while a Tiger strike only gets you 25? It makes no sense. You can get far more than that from doing patrol missions in the same amount of time and a lot less effort.

I agree, Interceptors are a POS. Weak and slow. My guns did more damage than them. They're useless.

Everyone complaining about pvp maps now?

Am I the only one that doesn't have a problem with any of them?

Everyone has a preference.

I expected more from the vehicles coming from Bungie considering how many great ones they had in Halo games. Interceptor has that awful delayed boost, its huge and janky, and the firing from each side consecutively is awkward.

mhmm, and there's also no tell on which rocket is about to fire. my suggestion during the beta was to give each rocket a charge time and a large red light so both the driver and the player being fired at know which rocket is going to hit. it's just a barrage of rockets now and hardly any less OP or awkward than it was in the alpha and beta.

I am in the same boat, my friend.

It's extremely annoying especially when you read this thread and see people complaining about their fourth exotic bounty lol. Luckily I hit Rank 3 with Dead Orbit and they gave a purple auto rifle (even though I don't like auto rifles) and I managed to pick up the raid machine gun while playing with SomewhatGroovy the other day.

But after almost 60 hours played, I've literally only had two purples actually drop from RNG, and one of them came from the damn cave. Ridiculous.

Could really use a hand running my level 24 Hunter through the lvl 26 weekly. Won't have time to level him and I could use the coins.

Will return the favour with my 28 Titan for anything.

Please Gaf! :3

Anyone have a method for getting plasteel (or armor material) easily? I've been running patrols, crucible and strike playlist but I barely get any drops to breakdown. I've resorted to just buying armor from vendors but I barely have any glimmer.

Have everything to take me to level 28 except the plasteel.

Anyone have tips for playing a Defender Titan in Vault of Glass? So far I haven't found a whole lot of uses for Ward of Dawn. Especially since many of the fights feature "DPS segments" where everyone blows their stuff at a certain time during the fight. Placing Ward of Dawn at this time can just cause people to shoot into a bubble and not hit the boss for a few crucial seconds. And the melee shield perk also really doesn't come into play as staying at a range, is also crucial in most Vault fights. Let me know what you guys have found works.

During Time of Vengence if the relic holder is in the middle platform keeping the shield out, when he needs to jump to the back to teleport again someone needs to put up a ward of dawn otherwise all the harpies plus Atheon is going to rain down and kill everyone before they can jump off the platform.

Also if you bought the Saint 14 helm off Xur last weekend and upgraded it you can use your shield to slow down the enemies advancements, did I mention how fucking awesome the Saint 14 helm is?

Got my first Legendary from Blue engram yesterday.

Doctor Nope.

Thing rocks in PVE (even without stability upgrade), but is complete trash in PVP due to miniscule impact (perhaps with stability upgrade I could make more consistent headshots).

Is this weapon worth upgrading?

I really want to love this game, but I'm coming to the conclusion that this game just wasn't made for people like me. I'm a father of a 2 year old boy, house, wife, full time job, etc etc. I just don't have the time to grind.

I bet maybe 1-2 hours of videogame time a night after my son goes to sleep, there is just no way I could grind my way to all the materials and items you need to get legendary and exotic gear/armor.

I'm a level 21, I hit level 20 way later than all my friends, and I think I've gotten maybe 4 blue primary weapons, I've never even seen a legendary weapon. I feel like I've played all of the story missions and strikes multiple times over now, and I don't have the spare time to just grind them for gear.

Its a shame because they really didn't bill the game for what it ended up to be (as we all know). I didn't think it would be such an insurmountable grind to see some of the cooler things the game has to offer. And the worst part is that it seems totally random. I have invested a few nights grinding and doing dailies only to end up with basically NOTHING better than what I started with. Once you finish the story and have seen all the content, it sort of relegates the game to those users that just have endless amounts of time to game (which judging from GAF seems like the majority nowadays, you guys play A LOT!).

TLDR: this game is not for parents with full time jobs, and it makes me sad...

I don't know... I have two kids and a full time job (plus I make games in my spare time) and I rarely can play for more than one hour a night. And still I'm loving Destiny. I'm lvl 23 and having a blast playing pvp and the occasional strike.

I'll be online in a minute, I need to do a weekly to complete today's bounty. ^_^

The big problem I have is that it's extremely hard for me to have more than an hour of playtime and just about all serious strikes and the raid requires more so I'm hosed.

(2) level 27s looking for (4) more to run the vault on normal today. PS4 around all day would like to start a run around 10am eastern.

Friend request with a GAF reference... "theCanisDirus" & "ParryHotter_"

If you're below Level 28, it's a reasonable measure of defense against the shitstorm of bullets that you can find yourself in at times. It's useful while nailing Supplicants as a refuge against those crazy suicidal fuckers when in need. Plus, Weapons of Light is the tits.

What time? I'm looking to run my alt Titan through VoG, but won't be available until 5:30pm Central. I'm Level 29 and have completed it multiple times.

Edit: If anyone else is running a Raid from the begging on normal this evening-ish let me know.

I swear in Beta there was a light that lit behind which side was poised to fire. I don't remember seeing it nowadays so I just mentally keep track. Left, right, left, right, left, right.....

I do think they nerfed the # of Interceptors too early. People know how to deal with them now, so it's not nearly the threat it used to be. Even by end of beta people were figuring it out on how to kill them and that was before we had all the abilities we had now.

Also, 33,266 kills in Destiny thus far. Ugh.

So I'm doing a strike with my boys and I die right after we kill the main guy and they can't revive me it just won't let them keeps timing out. Mission complete screen comes up and they all get legendary armor but me...

WTF

But you did have fun.
The journey is the destination, man.

Maybe my wording was poor. That fun of the journey, is smashing head on into the grind wall for my group of friends. Like I mentioned, we played a ton this weekend, and none of us got anywhere. No, "woah man, that is an awesome drop" moments. No, great you made it to lvl __. We all stayed exactly at the same meaningless light level. No one got shit for loot. What previously would be a full filling moment of clearing a level is now depression. The laughs are coming at mocking the game and getting mad at it, not because of some insane boss battle. Clocking in to work is quickly becoming more enjoyable than firing up Destiny with buddies.

Congrats Bungie. You have made a game with RPG mechanics where your character gets shittier the more you play. Truly a unique accomplishment.

Bungie said that after the patch the blues have an increased chance of turning legendary - I had no such luck with that.

I've had two Legendaries from blues since the patch. That being said, it definitely feels like they lowered the Legendary drop rate, both from kills and from the Cryptarch gifts.

Cryptarch gift nerf makes sense, though, since we can find engrams a bit easier.

Spend most of the evening doing the Thorn bounty yesterday.

I was not looking forward to the Void Damage part, but got in in about 2 hours.

The Invisible Hand helped a lot.

Yup. People have criticized her inclusion and questioned the point of her being there but she certainly served a purpose in getting my main and alt characters some easy legendary gear.

Also the Supremacy sniper rifle is still my go-to secondary and is a beast once fully upgraded.

It'll be sad to see her go but I do love watching her leave.

I'm used to her being there always..

Sit, Dance, Wave and all the beautiful memories in her garden..

Show interest in what she's selling just to find a reason to visit again even thou its the same stuff..

Now she'll be gone soon..

Emptiness..

Goodbye my Queen..

Goodbye.

That wasn't the Queen.

For those who doubt golden guns' efficiency in the raid, one shotting oracles comes in pretty damn handy. Add in an extra shot from that exotic helm and its even better.

I'm asking this to anyone who has a clear idea if it is feasible to do the vault of the glass with three people. We are all maxed out.

Thanks!

Weapons of light.
Weapons of Light is pretty useful for Athean on normal but if you're doing it on hard, it's best to go with Blessing of Light since it's far more important to keep people alive than doing damage on the boss due to no revives.

That overshield save lives.

Yo, 29 Titan here w/ both subclass exp. in Vault of Glass.

Defender is best when defending the confluxes and when with the "outside-team" on Atheon. IMO you'll want to use the setup that gives full armor & regen. As for Ward placement and type - I would recommend Weapons of Light for the very nice damage increase; but if damage is an issue (praetorians) use Armor of Light to do some resilient-melee-spam. As for the blockage issue you mentioned, I always talk it over with my team (type & logistics) because I've had ppl rocket themselves on it. I almost always use Weapons of Light so my Ward is more of a buff zone, in the rear.

Personally, I like Striker in Vault when carrying the relic. If you pick up all of the armor increasing perks and Juggernaught, you can sprint to the adds during each time-warp and R2 + Slam them while both making them focus on you and not dying. Even when I was doing it at Lv.28 the Venus minotaur and Mars Hobsnipers could not kill me. Also, if timed well during Time's Vengeance, your Pulse Grenade can control supplicants prior to being time-warped.

Shoutouts to the map designer who put the control points on Blind Watch.

What a great throwback to the Halo 3 Guardian initial spawns.

While I don't disagree that staying alive is the most important thing, weapons of light can save you at least one if not two full rotations on Atheon due to the increased damage output. Given the choice I'd say that's more important as it lessens the possibility of deaths due to fewer rotations. Your mileage may vary, but that's the choice I use for my bubble shield at the back of the platform. :)
