Wii Titles (SMG2, Metroid Prime trilogy and Punch Out!) Announced for Wii U eShop

For everyone asking for gamepad controllers for galaxy 2, how would that even work, Yoshi mechanics really rely on it as well as other parts of the games, like collecting start bits and transfering from those gravity planets.

No idea how that would work with a gamepad.

Metroid Prime though, thats another story, the game already has full controller support in the Gamecube releases.

Still, im not going to complain, this is maybe one of the first times that I have seen proper prices by Nintendo, they usually over price stuff.

I already own Metroid Prime Trilogy. Seems like the only benefit of this would be a shortcut on the Wii U menu, right? I'll pass, but it's great that Nintendo released it as a digital download. I really appreciate that.

Galaxy's dream over, no gamepad support :/

Really? Oh man, I was all hyped up about this, I thought it was compatible with the Classic Controller :(

Just read a tweet saying booting the game DOES take it to Wii mode and pushing the home button does the same as if playing off the disc. That is a little disappointing that you can't access Miiverse while playing these.

Exactly.

This isn't the Gamecube version. It's clearly the Wii version.

:laverne:

It's funny that Sin & Punishment, one of the only games that had CC support, is the one that more or less requires the Wiimote if you want to play on anything harder than Easy.

Have you people who complain about lack of GamePad support ever played Super Mario Galaxy ?

It would control like shit if they had mapped the pointer to the right stick.

Okay that's disappointing.. I thought it would be a native Wii U game... this is strange.. so just a fancy cover for booting into Wii mode?

My wishlist for Wii games would also be Radiant Dawn, A Boy and his Blob(they'll never do this), and Klonoa(they'll never do this either).

From the tweets I am seeing that is the case. Also they say that turning the game off completely reboots the Wii U.

Nintendo kind of quickly announced this and moved on to the next segment without giving the details. I shouldve figured it wouldve been half assed like this and not completely done like a VC title that allows us to still access the Wii U OS features...

Reworked slightly to make use of the second analog stick?

And why not add touch screen support too!

I think people would have been mostly okay if they would have at least upscaled them or did something with them in general.

Are the EU dates the same as the US dates? Actually considering some of these for half price, but then I'll need a larger HDD too.

Punch-out is playable with Classic Controller, right?

Didn't see it posted yet, here are the other titles shown in the EU Direct:

Any dates for these?

No idea? There is a right analog stick and touchscreen on the damn thing. Use rt analog for star bits, touch if you're in a spot that demands more precision. A Nintendo janitor could have programmed that in on his coffee break. 'No idea,' eh?

They should have focused on games with CC first to get the ball rolling. Even GC. Without the off-tv, appeal is extremely limited to me.

considering the "sensor bar" is just two IR LEDs, I "believe" they are on by default on the game pad. I guess just stand your game pad up and point your wiimote at it to see.

They're not always on. Only when playing Wii mode in gamepad mode are they turned on.

I have pandoras tower but I feel compelled to get it again when it comes out just to show how intrested im in in it incase they looking at the numbers, same with sin and punishment 2

It seems they can't run Wii mode within the framework of the WiiU OS. So it's basically download versions of Wii titles it seems. So they run the same as if you've got the disc (which begs the question if GamePad to Classic Controller support will be added for normal Wii mode soon). Think of it as a cheap way to get some of the games. I guess they could add some imports if they wanted to make it a bit more special.
It's like the GBA games on 3DS.

pretty sure the menus in Punch Out require pointer controls so you're going to need a wiimote for that, too.

Unless a game has Classic Controller support, you're gonna have to dust off a wiimote to play it.

If those games can use the Gamepad and are played in Wii Mode, I wonder if that means disc Wii games will be able to use gamepad controls too, either through a system update or through "unofficial" means.
