Wii Titles (SMG2, Metroid Prime trilogy and Punch Out!) Announced for Wii U eShop

That is a good point about the hard drive space though. I'm scared with the horror stories of external drives of various sorts failing (not sure if some people have them fail even with best practices), so I'm hoping my non-basic Wii U has enough room for the trilogy.

Can you use the gamepad as a sensor bar? I've been wanting to play Galaxy 2 for a couple of weeks but lost both my sensors :/

Light 2 candles on your TV stand and you will be good to go (SINCERELY). The light from the candle emits the same stuff as a Wii sensor bar. Try it and let me know when your mind is blown!

Just put 2 candles about a foot or so away from each other and they will act as a sensor bar. NO SENSOR BAR NEEDED.

Personal note: My theory? Nintendo will release a patch that will implement the Gamepad features in a system-wide level between today and the release of the first CCP-compatible title, as part of their regular system update schedule. It'd make absolutely no sense to have such a feature for just a couple of (relatively minor) titles and not take advantage of it in any other game.

No way this is happening if they had to do IOS patching to make this work for these eShop games. Fucking Wii OS.

Dude, what are you even doing in this thread? At this point, it’s just thread whining. People aren’t mad at these Nintendo rereleases because they don’t do the things people fault remasters for. You are essentially proving my point by showing that Nintendo is selling their games anywhere form 1/3 to 1/5 of the current market value. No one is heralding this as the second coming because they are just wii games at wii resolution. Many people are saying that they won’t buy it unless they come out with an HD version.

The people that are excited are happy with the price and the game selection. That’s it. No one is making an argument that this is some game changer and that Nintendo will win back the market. People are just happy they don’t have to spend, minimum, $50 for a game that came out five years ago. The gamestop website doesn’t even have the game in stock!

So, what are you even saying at this point? That people could have bought the games when they were in print? Yeah, but it’s 2014 and these games are now expensive and hard to find. Is it that you wish these were in HD? Yeah, we’d all love HD remakes for cheap, but that’s not in the cards. Is it that you think people are too excited for something you seem to not care about? Well, that sounds like a problem with you and not with Nintendo fans.

Not everyone in here is excited they are straight port's. Not everyone is exited that they can't play the game control wise like they want to.

I never said people couldn't be happy about re-releasing the games on digital store. Go re-read some of my post's, I clearly make positive notes that I think it's s great opportunity to revisit the game , or play it for the first time if you never owned a Wii.

But the fact this announcement came from Nintendo DIrect and people are excited to play SD port's, when you can look at Wind waker HD, just doesn't equal how excited people are in this thread.
Some people actually are not as ECSTATIC as you and the rest of people in this thread. And many agree that the announcement would have been more worth while if they gave dates for a release schedule for HD remaster's of these games.

People are making a big deal out of something that's getting a 19.99 Wii U retail print.
Would be a bigger deal if these games were getting 29.99 retail release and were redone HD.

I just don't see how people can be so happy for SD port's that may or may-not support the original or new control schemes for them.

Regardless of the first week price.

I could see people getting pissed me included if Sony relased Uncharted 2, Tools of destruction, Infamous, God of war 3 on PSN store, with all the same problems some of them had, with no improvments, or even trophy support.

Just straight ported games that are 9.99 for the first week on PSN, when you look at the Last of Us with INCLUDED dlc, Graphical upgrade and running at 60fps for 49.99.

Wait, what, for real? I have a sensor bar and I want to try that! (If only because it seems neat)

Might do just that later tonight.
Ok, I think I was stupid now because I got no clue how the hell will the candles connect to the Wii U, goddamn I need some sleep before I just jump at these things. Gonna search for information to check how to do stuff beforehand. That'd be good.

Triple E: Okay, I got it now, I think. Wow, that was a mood whiplash right there. Thanks for the info though, didn't know that! Learned something.

I just bought the game and it doesn't work.

I can see the Wii logo on a black background for a little while, then it goes black and after that it boots back into the Wii U mode -_-

Anybody here with the same problem?

They should make an option, but they can't let the gamepad interfere with the sensor bar. Games loke COD show the map on the gamepad will wou aim with the Wiimote with the sensor.

Right I can understand the issue of compatibility with Wii U games but for Wii is there really any excuse?

I did this for a couple of years to boot into games (thanks Nintendo for making me point at the screen -.-) but didn't think it was accurate enough for gameplay. Is it? If course at the time I was playing in a drafty garage which caused significant flickering.

I'm psyched. I'll buy just about anything they put up on there. Wii has an awesome library.

Sin & Punishment 2? THANK YOU NINTENDO.

That's awesome, I hope they do $9.99 first week for all future releases.

Any exploit installed?

I was just thinking that I completely missed Punch-Out on Wii. Always wanted to try that one! Sin & Punishment 2 always seemed really cool to. I hope they bring out Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise, that game deserves a ton of love.

Also: please buy Metroid Prime Trilogy so Nintendo will get the message!

What games had classic controller support out of the ones announced?

There is no way I'd buy some of these, even at the reduced price. Metroid maybe, and that's only so I have three of the best games ever available on my HDD at a moments notice.

I'd have paid a higher price for a basic BASIC port that just upped the internal rendering resolution.

I don't understand where has it ever been implied any future Wii VC releases won't support the original controls?

And what new controls? Metroid Prime 3 wouldn't even be playable with a controller, the entire game is made with the Wii Remote in mind... What exactly is Nintendo supposed to do short of remaking the entire game to work with a controller?

Really glad that I'll get to play through the prime trilogy now. Also I really hope Nintendo patches the gamepad controls for every game.

So if Nintendo ever gets its act together, they're on track for standard game prices (not counting sales or special situations) of:

NES - $5
SNES - $7
N64 - $10
GCN - $15
Wii - $20

...Man. Certainly, those aren't terribly high, and compared to some titles (MP Trilogy), way way cheaper than buying the existing disc used. But still, I have to believe Nintendo would do better if they could get those into real impulse buy territory. $10 for a Wii game? I'm there. $20 for a Wii game? If it's one I've always wanted but missed last gen, I could budget for it. But $15 and $20 is out of my "Just buy it, what a deal" range. Would reallly like to see Nintendo go to something more like regular NES titles for a dollar, all time great NES titles for $2, SNES titles for $3 (heck, say 2.99) with all time greats for $4, N64 games for $5, Gamecube for like 8 and Wii for 10. I have to believe they'd make it up in volume - but maybe not.

There may may be a way to get it to pretend that the GamePad is a Classic Controller as the system exits from Wii U to vWii mode. Obviously it's something only Nintendo could do, not homebrew. Hopefully....

But yeah, adding new controllers to Wii games is a nightmare since the Wii "OS" is so ridiculous.

I just bought a £25 eShop voucher for a European version of Rune Factory 4 since my US cart is pretty unstable...but now I'm really, really tempted to get Galaxy 2 and Metroid. I've been desperate to play Galaxy for some reason but never got it since it was about £30 on Amazon, and I've never played Metroid Prime but I've heard great things. Incredibly tempted to spend my voucher on these two especially since they're so cheap. £9!

...they do this, all the time. PSOne/2 Classics.

Well at least now I don't have to pay $40+ for MPT now. I'm hoping we get more rare games on the E Shop like Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn or One Piece Unlimited Adventure.

Yep, I have the Wii part homebrewed.

Homebrew channel is installed. I have no idea what could cause this...
The Wii mode boots fine by itself from the Wii U menu.
Uh oh. I have the homebrew channel installed too, I'll wait for confirmation on this before buying anything.

What games had classic controller support out of the ones announced?

Read my post a couple of posts above.
Edit: And by above I mean "in the last page". Boy, this moves fast.

So do these just run the same as if you put in the disc? No improvement to image quality or controls?

No. Again, read my post in the previous page. It contains everything we know so far, as far as I can tell.

That info should be added to the OP, if you ask me.

I'll be getting Punch-Out, but I'm still pissed that it doesn't support the classic controller, my Super Famicom Wii Classic controller is collecting dust.
