Wii Titles (SMG2, Metroid Prime trilogy and Punch Out!) Announced for Wii U eShop

I am actually reasonably impressed with how it looks on my 60inch. Obviously it is not as good as a remake, but the 1080 output and HDMI cable do seem to make a bit of a difference. I missed SMG2 and Metroid Prime 3, so this is a pretty good line up for me.
This sounds good.

I also have a 60" tv and was concerned with how bad it would look.

If SMG2 looks decent then maybe the MP trilogy will as well.

I am having the same issue and my sensor bar is set correctly. I wonder if it is because my sensor bar is sitting on top of my kinect? It wasnt a problem with pikmin 3.

I went through the settings again on my WiiU, the sensitivity was at 3. Upped it to 5 and it seemed to correct my issue.

I've had that issue and think this fixed helped it on my system as well.

I also think that the angle I'm playing a game can effect the stuttery-ness of the pointer. I was playing Wii Sports Club last night and at a 45 degree or more angle from the tv the pointer was flickering around like crazy, but moving straight in front of it fixed the problem.

Oh I definitely agree with releasing them weekly. Just tell us what's coming...even if its "TBD Twilight Princess, Zak and Wiki, Xenoblade, etc."

Well Europe got a small release list at least. Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Pandora's Tower, and Sin and Punishment.

I wonder if NoA will bring over some of the titles that only hit Europe, like Disaster Day of Crisis.

That's what I'm wondering also.

NA missed from Nintendo that EU got:

Disaster: Day of Crisis
Another Code: R
Project Zero 2: Wii Edition

Any others?

Edit": On the other end, NA got what EU didn't:

Excitebots
Mario Super Sluggers

I wish they did a little upscaling on these games. I played SMG 2 yesterday and I can't deny that I was a bit dissapointed by the visuals.

The game actually looks better when you set the Wii U to 480p and then have your TV upscale it. These games will always be jaggy sadly, but other that SMG2 has amazing art style that can make you forget about the low res image.

Indeed. The colors, specially, pop out like an HD game, it's quite impressive.

I played SMG2 yesterday, too. I'm using a 120" projector screen. Jaggies are obviously noticeable, but yeah, like others have mentioned, it's not a big deal as I thought it would be. You stop noticing them once you're focused on the gameplay.

What bothers me more are the black borders around the game. Hope that's something they can patch that out. The mentioned workaround where you have to mess with system settings is too much of a hassle for me.

I hate to be so crass, but there's no excuse not to buy MPT if you do not have it. It is THREE games (pretty damn good ones) in one for potentially $10 if you buy first weeks.

I have to agree, this is an uncharacteristically amazing deal for Nintendo who rarely discounts games this much and a great way to support the franchise if you want more games to be made. I also own the disc and plan to jump on this deal as soon as it's available. $3.33 per game for three of the greatest 3D adventures put to disc? Fantastic.

This thread reminded me to purchase SMG2. Now I just need a Wii remote and nunchuck.
I price matched a nunchuk for $15 at Best Buy since the refurbished ones are out of stock it seems at the Nintendo site.

Where were these two games mentioned? Or are these just games that never released in Europe? Mario Baseball was meh... Better on the cube.

Hmm sounds like they should add an option to set just the Wii U Wii games to 480p instead of having to do it at the hardware level settings.

I will have build a pretty boss gaming PC soon. I plan on using Dolphin. It will probably be better to Buy the physical version of SMG2 right? I'm assuming it would look absolutely glorious running off my PC rather than from a Wii U?

Just FYI you can't use physical discs with Dolphin. You'll have to rip them.

If the Wii U is now able to run Wii games natively (I assume) via it's internal Wii hardware, how hard would it be to port the Wii's virtual console library to the Wii U by the same methodology? Could we finally see N64 games on the Wii U in the near future?

Didn't seem to make much difference for me. It is fine in the wiiu menu but when I get into the game it drops out. Maybe I need to go into wii mode and change a setting there

Can confirm 100% your save file will work once copied from an SD card and the game "has been played once".

It will only let you copy the save file once the game has been "played".

No need for a console transfer. Thank you based Nintendo!!

Yeah that would be great. It's a hassle to set my wii u to 480p every time I want to play a wii game. But it's worth it for me because allowing my tv to do the upscale is significantly better.

Gamepad play = yay!
Required to use wiimote + sensor bar = boo..

Gamepad play to me means using the gamepad for control. Having to prop the gamepad up as a tiny TV just seems weird. How do you even get it to stand up?

Bah humbug.

The Gamepad stand (included with the Platinum Wii U). But I agree, the Gamepad as only a screen would only be a thing to do if the TV is occupied.

We've gone through this several times already... You are confusing two different things. Off-screen play (that is, displaying the game on the gamepad's screen) has been a feature available for some time now. You can "stream" your Wii games to the gamepad without the need to have a TV on if you press the + button before booting into Wii Mode.

What these games will implement is having the gamepad as an input option in games that support the Classic Controller (Pro) for Wii. At the moment, the only two announced games that support it are Pandora's Tower and Sin & Punishment. Super Mario Galaxy 2 requires a Wiimote + Nunchuck because it was the only control scheme that it originally supported.

Would love a cross buy setup for Xenoblade. Buy the New 3DS game and get a download code for the Wii game on the WiiU and vice versa.

You don't like Metroid? Does not compute.

If anything, if sales are great, I hope that means Nintendo will release other titles more quickly.
I own Metroid NES, Super, Fusion, Zero Mission, Prime 1 and 3. They seem great and I should love them by all indications but I just can't get into them. Ironically the one I enjoyed most was Fusion. I'm hoping there's a new Metroid in development for the fans anyway. Same for F-Zero.
Do you one Prime 1 on Gamecube? The Wii controls make it feel like a whole new game.
I thought Prime 1's controls were fine.

I am actually pleasantly surprised at how well the wii controller works in super Mario galaxy 2. I always saw the Wii controller as kind of shitty.

Here's a question. Since Prime 1 and 2 were standalone in Japan, are there any differences between the standalone releases and the trilogy versions?

Because even though on GC the games were up to 1.5GB and Prime 3 is on a single-layer disc would be up to over 4GB, is there any indication that they had any compression done to them as a result of all being on one dual-layered disc?

Maybe not as I would think they were made specifically for the trilogy pack and then afterward split for the JP release.

It's all good. You can't force yourself to like something. I wonder what was if about Fusion that did it for you.

There are people claiming there are issues if SMG2 is on an external HDD. Mine is and nothing in the game itself, but when viewing the manual a second time gave me an error message. Turns out that was being accessed via the browser anyway so that shouldn't have anything to do with the game at all. :P

I just came in this thread to see if there were any known issues. Galaxy 2 just went straight to a black screen and did nothing. Moving it system memory fixed the problem.
