Fantastic Four Trailer # 1

Honestly, looks pretty good to me. Combined with the recent announcement of it being Cronenberg-inspired, I'm actually cautiously optimistic.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
Ehhhhh....not doing it for me. Do they not go to space and get their powers?

Will wait for the full trailer to judge though.

i wonder how they're gonna explain how these 4 at such a young age are given the chance to embark on this expedition.

you could make an excuse for reed since he's a supergenius but the other 3????

Doom?

It's not Kirby and Lee's Fantastic Four. Kinberg and Frank have both said it's based more around Ultimate Fantastic Four.

And the GotG trailer was great now? Weren't there posts here talking about how terrible/underwhelming/"mehhhhh" they were?

Ultimate Fantastic Four? That succeeded largely at first largely because of Warren Ellis, but take him out of it, and it wasn't really a very successful reimagining at all.

I'm pretty sure I'm on record here saying the GotG trailers were great.

That looked better than expected. But if that whispered voice in the end IS from the guy on the examining table, and that IS Doom, then I've lost all hope again.

I liked it. The aestethetic looks pretty original - grounded, but the alternate universe stuff seems appropriately fantastic.

Will need a longer trailer to confirm, but I'm certainly more immediately intrigued by this than Antman.

I caught that too. I'm thinking he conflated the UFF origin run with Millar/Hitch run of the regular FF series.

Also I think the trailer looks really good. Hopefully the film is good too.

It's confusing because the first arc was written by Brian Bendis & Mark Millar with Kubert on art and Hitch on covers. After that Warren Ellis took over for 12 issues and then Mark Millar came back to the book with Greg Land for another run. Millar and Hitch then went on to do a run on the regular FF series as you mentioned.

Irritates me to no end they can still use the Marvel logo. Because people will just assume this is related to The Avengers and go pay money for it.

So? Why wouldn't they be able to? Marvel movies have been using that logo since, what, Blade? X-Men?

Marvel Studios made their own logo anyway so I don't see why it matters.

Even with the rock man and the guy who keeps catching on fire seemingly at will plus the nerdy guy and blonde and then all 4 of them standing together? Come on now.

If you're watching the trailer for the first time, you can barely catch a glimpse of all the quick shots. A pile of rocks breaking apart could be anything, two brief scenes of a guy on fire could have also been anything. It's been done in sci-fi before.

We are now getting mad at Fox for having a Marvel logo in a movie based on a Marvel property, which they've been doing for 15 years now...

Not as bad as I was expecting. Doesn't really scream Fantastic Four to me which sucks, but if I didn't know or care who they were I'd be intrigued by this movie.

I really do hope Fox makes an interconnected Marvel Universe. A little duller and drabber then Marvel proper, but it would still be fun.

And the hero shot at the end? If I had zero clue this was an FF movie, there would have been no doubt in my mind by then (assuming I know who the FF are). Especially with the clues beforehand. Any other vagueness before that can be chalked up to this being a teaser.

That actually looked pretty good. I liked it.

I like the idea they're going in a hard sci-fi/body horror/Cronenberg direction in terms of tone with some superheroics.
