So is Doom's face actually burned or something in the comics...?
He hid his face because he had a badass scar?
'Ol dude form nip tuck was a GOAT doom tho
However, he did show off his healthy visage in Secret Wars after he stole the Beyonder's powers.
Reed's costume is confusing given his power. Looks like a straight jacket.

When Steve spoke with Josh Trank and Simon Kinberg for our Fantastic Four exclusive, Kinberg confirmed there would be an Easter egg hidden somewhere in the trailer. The trailer hit the web just over an hour ago and it looks like one of our sharp-eyed readers already found it. About :45 into the trailer Sue Storm (Kate Mara) is working on a computer and on the bottom left corner of her screen an IP address: 23.21.190.125. Type that address into your browser and it leads to a wiki page on the fictional nation of Latveria.

I think it's just an interpretation. Not all that serious man. We're back to comic book movies being ashamed of being comic book movies?

yeah, it's clearly this and not: "there's fucking 10 marvel studios faithful comic book to film adaptations, fuck us for trying something different rite"
Those little bungie cords probably expand when he expands.
Right now it looks like shit though and overly complicated.
I think I'm calling it. Mahvel fanboys are absolutely the worst kind of fanboy on this forum, gaming side included, obviously.
I think the Fanboys who shit on Marvel Fanboys are the worst. How would you feel if people constantly shit on something you enjoy?
"
i've been giving it a chance since the beggining regardless of shitty behind the scenes Doom and all that, and so far with the teaser and inspirations/directions talk it's paid off
"comic book" isnt a genre
it shouldnt be in movies either
comics have been doing different takes and interesting stuff for a long while. We're heading on a direction where everyone's complaining about shit being stale and samey yet we get this backlash when they try to go on a somewhat unexpected direction. The concept of superheroes in the real world or at least with more realistic consequences is really interesting and worth exploring from different points of view (Specially when I already get my need for Hulk vs Iron Man super colorful fight satisfied elsewhere) That's what was interesting about Chronicle and he's clearly bringing some of that here.

Well, technically, nothing's paid off yet. It's a teaser and it does exactly what a teaser should do....it shows nothing of the plot, just some brief scenes that mean nothing.
What are chances this version of Reed will be the maniacal genius that's in the comics? The one that's considered one of the deadliest and feared superheroes around?
the director has said a lot about not wanting to reveal stuff in the wrong way, or early, etc etc. Im guessing he has some control over the teaser and it "paid off" to me in the sense that the tone we've seen so far falls in line with the inspirations or take he was talking about
I don't think this is nearly the problem you think it is. The last two Marvel movies have been among the most praised of all of them. You're probably going to point out the lukewarm reception of the Ant-Man trailer as reasoning of why people are tired, but that completely ignores how hyped people are for Avengers 2 and Captain America 3. I think the majority of people are perfectly happy with the way Marvel is continuing their movie universe."comic book" isnt a genre

depends on how much of Ultimate FF they want to adapt lol, something tells me they won't be turning Reed into a supervillain any time soon.

What tone, though? There's not enough there to get a tone. Not revealing stuff is great, but except for the potential cinematography and some costumes / looks, there's nothing there yet.
Seriously. If you had said, "I like the way it looks / shot.", sure! There's evidence for that. Tone? Science experiment.....person catches on fire...quick shot of forcefield Sue...rocks breaking....big blue light of doom...shots of desperate heroes and military types....If that's what you wanted, great, but if that's all you wanted out of it, it's been done. A lot. That's why it's bad to consider this teaser beyond visuals, it's actually pointing to a generic origin story.
Visually, it looked nice thus far, though.

I know I'd much rather have comic books movies feel like their comic book counterparts, and I find it odd that people are that confused by people wanting that. Just because you don't particularly give a shit about it being a faithful adaptation doesn't mean it's a weird thing for people to want. They're fans of the Fantastic Four for a reason, and haven't gotten a faithful movie adaptation that fits that tone. It shouldn't be that surprising that people are disappointed in them going in the completely opposite direction of what they want when they've never even put in a good effort in making a movie that feels like the comic book they've been following for years.
There's nothing wrong with exploring the idea of super heroes in the real world dealing with consequences. The problem most people have with it is that they're trying to force that into a part of the comic book universe where that concept makes little to no sense. There are tons of street level heroes that that angle could be applied to perfectly, but the entire point of the Fantastic Four is supposed to be a group of people exploring things that people in the "Real World" couldn't begin to comprehend.
Now again, you might not give a shit about why people find the Fantastic Four appealing, so you don't care that the movie deviates from it, but it shouldn't be surprising to you that people who did want that faithful adaptation aren't happy with the feel of this movie. There are better characters the concepts you're looking for could be applied to, trying to make that the concept of a Fantastic Four movie is the exact opposite of what a lot of people want.
Well sure, not a supervillain, but someone who isn't as black and white as a superhero would normally be.
Someone who is a lot more morally grey than we're used to seeing of superheroes on the big screen. I feel there's an opportunity here to go in an interesting direction with this movie, but I also feel they've probably played it safe and have Reed be the upstanding hero who only ever does the morally right thing as people expect superheroes to do.
A darker tone with a more aggressive and super intelligent Reed who doesn't always do the morally right thing would have been pretty great to see. Would at least help differentiate it from the other comic book movies out there.
all of this with a voice over about science, discovery, travel, going too far, consequences..
how is that not tone, I dunno
this movie looks like a bummer about travelling far, shit going bad and the consequences of that and I love it. The teaser absolutely has a tone, wtf?
really? not enough for tone? I mean you just described it

here's the trailer for the previous iteration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27dZ5mJBnBY
i'd say that's very indicative of what we ended up with

Yep I would love this as it's a big part of what makes Reed appealing to me. I hope they don't play it safe, I just don't know what to expect at all from this movie.

Those are themes, not tone.
Really? .... =/Doom got a scar from the experiment he tried to pull off to contact his mother in the afterlife. Since he's Doom, he thought to himself, "My face is no longer perfect so FUCK IT." and then had some monks slam his burning hot metal mask onto his face:

He did this because he's DOCTOR DOOM and he's METAL AS FUCK.
In the new movie, he's a blogger.
