Now that I'm thinking about it, what HAS Sakamoto been up to since Other M released? This begs the question...
Also,
He worked on Game & Wario.

General producer on RH. Not sure if he actually directed Tomodachi, doubt it, he should be a producer as well, but a lot more hands on than RH.A new Rhythm Heave recently came out. Isn't he the director of that series? Tomodachi Life was also directed by him if I'm remembering right.
Man, what if Nintendo went the route with microtransactions with this title? A lot of it feels very Destiny-ish.
Tamodachi and Game&Wario.
It's a spin off for fucks sake people.
It's not like they said here's metroid prime 4 and then showed this.
Did people get like this when metroid prime pinball was announced?

Still my point still stands it's a spin-off to add more backstory to the metroid universe and tide the fans till E3 2016 where they will show a damn teaser trailer of MP4 for NX.
You waited 6 years, you can wait one more.

Metroid Prime 2 and Zero Mission - 2004
Metroid Prime Pinball - 2005
Metroid Prime Hunters - 2006
Metroid Prime 3 - 2007
Metroid Other M - 2010
Metroid Prime Federation Force -2016
This isn't a remotely comparable situation
:/
I know this is something more in-line with Hunters, but I'm severely disappointed. A big part of the Prime games' appeal to me is it's one-of-a-kind ambiance, the amazing environments and unique art direction. Why bother calling this a Metroid Prime game?
The question is whether that's a good thing when the vast majority of that attention is negative. To gather more attention - which it just did.
calling it 'half-life 3' would've gathered even more attentionTo gather more attention - which it just did.
calling it 'half-life 3' would've gathered even more attentionand a lawsuit; in all seriousness I think naming stuff purely for attention is an idiotic business idea, not that Federation Force is the first game to do this
Part of the difference with Half-Life 3 is Valve have been a bit more direct about not really having a focus on finishing it. It's not officially cancelled, and I imagine at some point it'll happen, but they don't seem to shy away from stating they're focused more on services and online multiplayer experiences like TF2, DOTA2 and Left 4 Dead.Frankly, Half-Life is an excellent comparison to make, since Half-Life 2 was released in 2004, Half-Life 2: Episode 1 was released in 2006, and Half-Life 2: Episode 2 was released in 2007 (Metroid Prime 1, 2, and 3 were 2002, 2004 and 2007). So fans of both series have been waiting for 8 years for another installment. Of course, circumstances are different, Other M having been released - but that game is anomaly in several ways, and with Half-Life 2: Episode 2's cliffhanger ending, Metroid Prime 3's much less-so.
And what would fan's reactions be if Valve were to announce their next game as a portable-only spinoff carrying the Half-Life brand, where you play as Combine soldiers and play soccer, with no other game even hinted at being in development? I can't say it'd be positive, to say the least.
God forbid they do a little world-building as a bridge towards that next game.
Yeah I'm sure the story of the super chibi federation force are meant to build the world of Metroid.
What? Is this based on the same kind of thought that made some people think that Nintendoland was preparing people for the return of old series, or that the Mario Kart DLC was hinting at a new F-Zero?
"Im also thinking that, in that eventual game between Sylux and Samus that might get made, that I wants to involve the [Galactic] Federation as well," he said. "So it would be a good idea to release a game like Federation Forces to flesh out its role in the galaxy before moving on to that.
I feel like if they removed Prime from the title the backlash would be a lot less. More people would view this more as a reboot of Metroid than a continuation of the Prime series.
I was thinking they should have used a new subtittle. Something like:
Metroid Prime Chronicles: Federation Force.
Using Prime only made it sound like a main game, another reason why everyone is so pissed of.
Well of course it doesn't, there isn't another Metroid being developed to begin with.
Signing this petition is a very disgusting thing to do. The guys at Next Level Games must have been working on this for quite some time. Show them some fucking respect. This doesn't hinder development of a real Metroid in any way or form.

It is still arrogant to imply that no one wants this game. There could be many who might end up wanting and liking it and to deprive them of that is pure selfishness.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opportunity_cost
It hinders development of something people might have actually wanted.

They could be working on a 2D Metroid.
Maybe.

And I say this as someone who is the biggest Metroid Prime fanboy there is but has no interest in this game.

It's being made by Next Level which is kind of a bummer.
True, at least they didn't put Samus there. It's like they worked on a new prototype, thought it was fun enough to mke a game of it and just decided to name it Metroid because it's a known brand.Still my point still stands it's a spin-off
