I just checked. The Jurassic World review embargo was lifted on June 10th at 9pm EST, 2 days before the film's release in June 12th. While it was pretty close to the film's release, sometimes studios withhold reviews until the week of to dominate the news with reviews of the film for most of the week. The fact that the F4 reviews won't go up until the time of the Thursday night showings in the East Coast is concerning. Again, I'm hoping that the film is good, more good movies isn't anything wrong to hope for, but the embargo going on for that long isn't a good sign.No idea.
I mean, it could be complete crap. Waiting that long to release reviews certainly doesn't shout confidence on the studio's part, though. I was using JW as an example of a very successful and generally well-review movie that had a late embargo, but I'm sure there are many, many counter-examples.

I s there even a OT planned?
I'm actually an actor myself, so I usually hope for the success of my fellow thespians (who are way above my league right now). That's why I'm wondering what the tweet means when saying "day of release". Are they talking about the actual day that audiences can go to a showing (Thursday) or the "official release" day (Friday).
Regardless, I have a lot of doubts about this movie but still hope it succeeds. The Marvel port-begging in FF threads is pathetic and we're just going to get more of it...plus, as a camera operator for indie shorts/films, people begging for a film to fail kinda disgusts me.
You know what must be done.

It seems quite a few work(ed) in the business here. That's really cool. Never knew you did!As a camera operator, you know as well as I do that everyone who worked on the movie got paid. The failure of the movie won't impact anyone below the line.
I worked in the business for a decade and have no problems with rooting for this movie to fail. The property is in the wrong hands, and is being handled poorly.

(I may start working in October. I hope I do.)
Thanks! It does seem like something that you can get burned out on quite easily.Good luck! I got burned out after a decade and went back to IT. It was a great time I don't regret, though.

Let's try to look at this from each other's points of view.
- On one hand, you have the fact that Fox fast-tracked this movie for release solely to make sure that they retained the rights. You shouldn't make a movie just to retain the rights, you should make a movie because you have an idea. Sony learned this lesson the hard way with The Amazing Spider-Man (even though I was okay with the first one).
- On the other hand, you have the idea that there are a ton of talented actors & a director who did a solid movie in the past. You want them as actors, directors, cinematographers, set crew members, etc. to succeed because that's their livelihood.
My statement wasn't a concern for payments, residuals, etc. I'm generally against slapping a "I haven't seen this movie but I want it to fail" sticker on anything.
I want very few movies to fail, especially because of an assumption regarding how the franchise is being mishandled.
Exactly. Low level cast/crew likely won't be impacted by a failure, but anyone with a "name" could be.

Even in the dark?
I think the fact they used "Power" for the tv commercials tells me they still miss the point of the FF

Was Sony pressed for time to make ASM?Sony learned this lesson the hard way with The Amazing Spider-Man (even though I was okay with the first one).
They just pushed the movie out as soon as they could so they could keep the rights. I don't recall the specific of their production schedule. Was Sony pressed for time to make ASM?
What is the point of FF?
Fox just moved up the embargo date by a day.

I wonder what would make them do this?
A family exploring the unknown.
Family friendly fantastical science/space romps with some occasional magic/occult influence thanks to Dr. Doom. Ironically, Fantastic Four would be a great property for Disney because of it's tone, but it's one of the few Marvel properties they don't have the movie rights to.What is the point of FF?

The video ends with the presenter referring to Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben as the departments four greatest weapons of war. Its clear from the video that the DoD is looking to build an super-powered army by recreating the effects of the Fours exposure on a larger scale, which is likely the cause of some conflict between the heroes and the government.
It was on my email & they're pretty good about getting me news, so whatever. But yeah, The Wrap broke the news first. That's the Steve Trevor link from the other thread.
and stop visiting Comicbook dot com, man. Damn. If the Wrap broke that news, link back to the wrap, not some fishwrapper aggregate.
Thanks for pointing that out. I fixed the link accordingly.Fix the link

ComicBookMovie had volunteers basically do their work (copy & pasting other articles) for them.
Apparently Fox isn't screening FF for critics before release?
Where did you hear this?Apparently Fox isn't screening FF for critics before release?
I hope this does not bomb just for the sake of the actors. I enjoy most of what I have seen them in before.
Where did you hear this?
So they're pretty good about core info, but it's everything else that they're lacking in.SuperheroFeed on Twitter posted it. Now I unfollowed them because they're fucking terrible, but when it comes to basic facts, they usually don't get stuff wrong. They're just insufferable

Looks like a cheap rip off of Fantastic 4 rather than an actual Fantastic 4 movie.
Am I imagining shit now or does this look cheap?
Apocalypse doesn't look any good either. I wonder if fox is even competent enough to get the costumes right.
