that last one really annoys me about trailers. its very noticeable. there was a glaring one in ant-man recently as well.

in the trailer it was roughly

ant-man: 'my days of breaking into things and stealing stuff are over, what do you need me to do? '
Hank Pym: 'I need you to break into a place and steal some stuff'
ant-man: 'well, that makes sense'

for some reason after Pym speaks in the real movie, it just cuts. It was more amusing the way the trailer had it. Something that really bugs me about trailers. Why put something that isn't in the movie? People that aren't stoned as fuck will remember.

Editing dialogue is a far cry from a complete scene missing.

It's part of the process.

Trailers are based on footage available at the time. Sometimes, things stay relatively the same, and other times they change.

Films are in flux when they're in the editing room. Post-production is assembling the film, integrating the VFX, and finalizing the film's picture and sound once you've got everything locked.

You can't be married to something used in the trailer simply for the sake of contuity.

As far as FANTASTIC FOUR goes, it sounds like the Thing's VFX work wasn't up to par, so that action sequence was excised from the final cut.

I'd chalk it up to time limitations and budget constraints. This project reportedly has a smaller budget compared to DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, and MAN OF STEEL. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual budget ended up higher than what was reported due to reshoots and the studio's attempts to reconfigure the film.

I remember one from the first X-Men movie:

CYCLOPS: He won't follow orders
XAVIER: Give him an order worth following

not sure how that scene was supposed to fit into the movie, since the only point where Wolverine was being considered for a mission was after Chuck was knocked out for the remainder of the movie, so it was probably a line shot exclusively for the trailers.

There are also scenes shoehorned into movies for trailer fodder that turn out really awkward and nonsensical in the context of the movie, most notably the shot of Alice Eve stripping down to her underwear in Star Trek Into Darkness.

It is so goddamn depressing to read Secret Wars and then watch a trailer for this crap.

Right now in the Marvel comics universe, Doom is literally God. He defeated the unfathomably powerful Beyonders, prevented them from wiping out all of existence, and picked up the pieces of reality that were still left and created a new world where he reigns supreme.

Then you get this version of Doom who looks like a Reaper virus victim from Neil Marshall's Doomsday.

Give me a campy Fantastic Four set in the sixties with crazy gadgets, sappy melodrama and bright blue onesies with a 4 on them.

Actually, no, just bury the franchise - I'll just go watch The Incredibles.

So Chronicle was beginner's luck or something? I mean Chronicle was flawed, but it was the best live action Akira adaptation to date. And if Trank could do Akira, you'd think he could do Fantastic Four... :\

Well the director is responsible in the end but it does seem like a large jump to go from a low budget movie like chronicle to F4, It was probably too early for the studio to put him in that tier

Sigh, the signs were all there but I still held onto the shred of hope it might be good.

I just don't understand why the Fantastic Four is proving so hard to bring to the big screen. We have Ant Man and it was actually really good and yet FF, which should be much easier, is struggling.

Sigh.

The one who's going to get hit the hardest when this tanks is Josh Trank. The ongoing rumors about him being awful on set, and a pain in the ass to work with, and the studio taking the movie away from him, and then him losing the Star Wars gig. All of that could have be swept under the carpet if the film ended up beating expectations. Instead whether they were true or not, this is just going to make it all sound more credible.

The cast will be fine, it's just a silly superhero movie. Simon Kinberg will be fine, he has a gazillion other gigs lined up. Fox will be fine, they have Apocalypse and Deadpool next year. The losers other than Trank are all the fans who wanted a decent Fantastic Four movie. I don't even care if it's radically different at this point, I just hoped that it was good and unique on its own merits. Doesn't sound like that's the case. :(

Josh Trank was a guest on Kevin Smith's Fatman on Batman episodes #87, #89, #90 and one more which should release soon. He is way too serious and kind of full of himself.

I couldn't even finish the first episode. That dude loves to hear himself talk. I hope that 4th episode is the last one. I laughed out loud when I got a notification on my phone for yet another episode with Trank the Tank!

How unfortunate.

Not sure what to think about this, but as for the last F4 movies, those were bad/mediocre in the worst way possible from what I remember. Just bland as hell with flat acting. I'm really hoping that this is at least a more memorable kind of bad, like the Green Lantern.

I think these characters are tainted at this point, never really having a successful movie. Not sure these characters will find success in present day movies at all. Maybe you can use Doom somewhere else, but that's about it.

Odd that they're so heavily featuring that Thing jump scene when it's not in the final cut of the film.

I think it's funny because they use it as their prime trailer action scene. Which is just the Thing jumping on a humvee. In my mind, it's already bad enough that that's the action sequence. But then it doesn't even make it in the movie?

doesn't help that their powers are super fucking lame
only doom is interesting

These characters can be great if people would just let them be what they are. Earnest but somewhat campy sci fi family adventure movies. Like we have seen the FF done right before, The Incredibles.

Suspension of Disbelief is the problem. No one believes the shit Reed is capable of doing anymore in a modern setting because the crowd is older and more educated.

Yeah I listened to the first one when it came out and that was enough for me

I've been listening to Fatman on Batman and can say you guys are the assholes. "Loves to hear himself talk" Kevin asked for his life story. All of his special guests out talk Kevin.

They won't use Doom, Doom is irrelevant and too popular. Irrelevant in that Evil Dictators are no longer a thing unlike the Era in which Doom was created, and too popular in that If they change him Mandarin Style, the gasket blown by fanboys will be ridiculous

All they have to do is copy the gorram Incredibles. That is basically what the Fantastic Four are.

@Neoxon

Those 2 other reviews certainly help on whether or not to I should do some negative word-of-mouth.

It's simply baffling that despite fan backlash and all the questionable stuff the makers were doing, the studio would already announce a sequel waaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of the release date.

Even Marvel Studios wasn't counting chickens when they were making Guardians of the Galaxy, though they did announce the sequel the day before the film was released but that was when the hype and positive reception was apparent.

And the worst part is, the Marvel website makes no mention of the F4 reboot and they literally list the Howard the Duck film lol!

Scarier thought: Fox plows on even when this origin story blows. They'll say that its part of the universe, yadda yadda.

I had high hopes. I might still watch it for Mara when it goes streaming - which if it bombs should be several months from now.

I mean, hkw hard can that be when we have a movie where a man shrinks or where a Norse God is alive and well.

It seems more like the directors who tackle the material just don't understand it.

I still think this is going to do good enough to please Fox.

And anger most of Gaf.

They know they have a good IP here I see that X Men / F4 crossover coming sooner rather than later. Fox will be Fox and just have a time travel story wipe this version of the film away and start again if need be.
