Yeah, as someone who don't like going to the cinema, the wait for this release will be painful.
Ryan Reynolds, the face of the cinematic X-Men universe. What a time to be alive.
The trailers were edited to hell and back except online. (even in front of R-rated movies in theaters)
With the success of the film wonder if they'll be another game for Deadpool, doesn't Activision still have the licensed for it... Platinum could make a game.
They can't. Marvel banned the use of X-Men & Fantastic Four characters in games made after Contest of Champions. Deadpool counts as an X-Men character for the ban.Deadpool by Platinum would be incredible. There's essentially no limits. Batshit (budget) Bayonetta.
Word of mouth is super strong for this film. I haven't seen people gushing about a film after watching it like this in some time. After it was over, I passed two guys on their phones telling their buddies they needed to see this film.
LOL that was me. Though to be fair I was thinking $80+M on Thursday. After seeing it though, it's pretty clear to me it will blow past a 2.0 multiplier; WOM is gonna be too good here.Who was it in the Box office thread that thought Deadpool would be the first film to open over 50M but fail to hit 100M domestic?
.
So 59.5 million, and still saturday/sunday left (and monday?)
Yea this will hit 100 million huh.
That Friday number includes Thursday previews
And positive word-of-mouth could push the movie past that. Not that I mind, Deadpool deserves every cent that's coming his way.So 59.5 million, and still saturday/sunday left (and monday?)

Dammit. Still good news, though.Ah ok, still amazing though.

If nothing else, the success of Deadpool will hopefully get Marvel's attention so that they can consider lifting the X-Men/F4 ban for their games & cartoons. Even in this thread alone, there's demand for a new Deadpool game (even with the remaster of the High Moon Studios game being out there).
Deadpool Netflix series.
Ah ok, still amazing though.
Also still enough to pretty much lock a 100M opening. Worst case scenario will be -10% today from Friday proper and -30% on Sunday.
That would be around $102M for the 3day weekend.
With a good hold today and Valentines day tomorrow (plus a long weekend), we might be looking at 125M+ for the 4 day weekend.
With overseas results this film will be in the black in its first weekend.
I'm mainly talking about how the X-Men & the Fantastic Four (Deadpool included) were banned by Marvel from appearing in any post-Contest of Champions games & all of their future appearances in cartoons being scrapped in an effort to spite Fox & minimize the exposure of the brands they control on the big screen. Judging by the success of Deadpool, that clearly won't end up working as well as Marvel would want. My hope is that the success of Deadpool may get Marvel to consider lifting the ban. Granted, I'm not sure if it'll happen, but a guy can dream.I actually noticed Marvels official twitter posting a Deadpool related tweet, about the game. Which I thought was interesting, since they completely ignore Deadpool on their site and twitter usually.

No Deadpool there, but they have all X-Men and Spider-Man movies. Also Deadpool is on sale on Steam and released a Deadpool pack for Marvel Heroes.

Friday without previews did ~$35M. If Deadpool averages that over the next two days (very likely, IMO), it'll end with the highest solo debut for any superhero film, topping Spider-Man 1.Also still enough to pretty much lock a 100M opening. Ryan Reynolds has bought himself leeway to bomb 2-3 more unrelated films now.
They messed up making this R, imagine if it wasnt?
The opening numbers for this movie are bigger than any recent comic book superhero other than the Iron Man sequels, the most recent Batman movie, and the Avengers films. So Deadpool is bigger than Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, the X-Men, and Superman. We might live in a world where Deadpool is bigger than X-Men.
Wonder how Marvel will respond to this success. Which IP's they can use to make a R rated film? Daredevil and Punisher is stuck on Netflix. Maybe a Nextwave film?
Warner Bros. must be worried now.
Now that Deadpool has been successful, they might think there won't be enough thirst for BvS. They might just have to rethink their entire strategy for their upcoming slate of movies. They're no longer safe.
It's over.
They call them out pretty directly in Agents of SHIELD. Though I suppose you mean Marvel's Netflix shows.Maybe they'll at least call out their other characters directly in their TV shows instead of that stupid "flag guy" or "green monster" bullshit
Best Marvel movie to date.Congratulations to Ryan Reynolds also well deserved this was needed!
Quality of trailers (I disagree on them being awful) is not really correlated to box office. The trailers that I saw were so awful, I am legit shook that it is doing well.
In my opinion, I'm not sure. Maybe, but I'll need to rewatch the film a few more times to be sure. For reference, my top 3 are...Best Marvel movie to date.
Good shit Ryan.
I wonder if valentines day will help or hurt this movie.
Great date movie imo, but will people see it as that?
Very nice. This film needs to be a success.
Hopefully we'll see more studios take some risks on their superhero IP.
