Enter The Gungeon |OT| Praise the gun

I got all the components for
The Bullet That Can Kill The Past
, got to through to the end with the Pilot and... HOLY SHIT. (BIG Spoilers)
I got teleported to the past, and I was driving a ship, and had to fight a huge ass spaceship. Proceeded to get rekt.
Bright side is I completed the final boss on Beastmode and unlocked another item, so there's that.

Also I got the shortcut to Chamber 3. It was less bad than I thought it would be. The first thing he asked for the shortcut to Chamber 4, now that's funny.
4 Junk. WOO WE GOT SOME USE FOR IT

1) What is beast mode?
2) Were you playing as the Pilot?
I wonder if each character has their own unique boss?

Beast mode is an option you can turn on in the options menu, under Gameplay at the bottom (Don't ask me why they hid it there lol)
From what I could tell, it makes harder enemy types appear sooner, and the enemy density appears to be higher. At least it doesn't make the enemies themselves harder to kill, which is good.

And yes, I was playing as the Pilot.
I would think so? I mean, when I got past the Chamber 5 boss and shot the gun, I was now on a spacecraft. PILOTING a spacecraft. I would think that was HIS past, so it makes sense other characters have different pasts, and thus different final hidden bosses.

I really struggle now with the pilot. His shitty gun sucks so much against the armies that now populate my first dungeons. Most of the time, the very first room is among the toughest. Wizards, magic books and gunmen of all colors in several waves. wtf

Okay, just played 30 minutes and quit after I defeated the first boss. Plays great! Found an R-shaped gun which was fun. Then I quit the game to do something else.

Now I started it up again, and it started a new run automatically. If there's no way to get around that and it's "by design", it sucks in my opinion. I play these games in bursts...

Anyway, my second run went differently, I found a fireball type of weapon which was cool, but not at all effective against the boss (which was a real bullet hell type enemy, his title was "bullet maze" something I think. I died against him..

I've played it a bit on PS4, have got to the 5th floor twice.

Bought it on PC today, my very first run made it to the 5th floor! Super Meat Gun WRECKS

Decided to get on PC since you can disable the freeze frames when you kill an enemy. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=661551445

Really enjoying it. Agreed with others though, some sort of long term progression would be nice. The amount of times you go into the first boss with no real decent items/weapons isn't fun at times.

Also, getting some huge Rogue Legacy vibes not in the gameplay but the world design. Not a bad thing though.

I just got the SMG for the first time and it's probably my favorite weapon so far. I actually died because I had so many blades on the screen and couldn't see anything. Whoops

Yeah since this is a roguelike/roguelite there's no save states if you quit out. So be prepared to keep playing if you get a good run going, but also be prepared to suddenly die out of nowhere when you think you're doing amazing.

Somewhere down the road I'd love for them to add a mode more akin to Isaac where you start off with a generic gun and it's balanced around chests only contain passives/actives.

WOOOOW.
I finally have 3 shields to give this elevator repair man.
And I can't go down the hole BECAUSE I HAVE FLYING.

HELL YES! I defeated
the Pilot's Past.
So intense, but I was super focused and only took 2 hits. Also apparently I unlocked
the pilot's starting items into the item pool!
Guess it's time to play with the other characters ;)

Edit:

You mean the Jetpack? Just re-activate it then. Or are there more items that give flying...?

I don't understand why everyone is constantly talking about the elevator's quest and after 10 hours of playing, eventhough I've rescued the guy, I still have no clue on how to open the shortcut. Help?

Quite a few roguelikes/lites let you save & quit. Even Isaac

Well on the PS4 you can "pause" your progress by hitting the PS button which takes you out of the game and stops the action. Of course if you fully turn the system off then you'll lose that progress.

You gotta drop down the hole after the elevator leaves in the Second Chamber

PS4 has suspend/resume so you can turn it off and come back later from where you were

Fuck these stupid ass bullet twins. So much harder than any other of the other level 1 bosses, it's idiotic.

My god, I just found my first rainbow chest on the first floor and it spit out the quad ammo item and a unicorn horn, dragonfire, and gungine. No chance that this run doesn't end in victory.

??? I find them to be the easiest of the bunch. The king usually snags me once or twice when I get stuck in a corner with his garbagemessball. The twins just follow me around in a neat little circle, usually nowhere near eachother.

Finally beat
Blockner
, what a great boss battle, I finally got his pattern and was able to beat him with almost full health. The rewards for it are pretty great too.

I came close today (he had like 1/20 HP left). Once you understand his pattern and take care of his buddies first, it seems largely doable.

Really? I'm an idiot then. Outside of the PS4 suspend/resume feature, I've assumed every run I did in a roguelike had to be completed without quitting out of the game because it wouldn't save my progress. Definitely me being an idiot. The more you know!

I think they're the easiest first floor boss honestly. Of course I've fought all the first floor bosses so much at this point I know all their patterns pretty well.

Interesting, cause I think those two are the easiest boss. Bullet King is a pain sometimes. Gatling Gull is pretty straightforward and if you get him in a room with cover then you can basically cheese him.

I don't really find the king too bad, I usually just blow my blanks on his massive unpredictable move if I'm in a bad spot. The rest of his stuff is easy if you keep away far enough. With a decent weapon he's basically down after two full rotations of his moves.

Welp, finally made it to the fourth floor boss, got really close to putting him down too. That was a crazy run. And the Moonraker with bouncing bullets is nuts if you can line up all of the bounce shots on one target.

Sorry if its been asked a bunch but how does the Breach shop work? Bought a gun there but I'm not sure where it went.

Buying items means they'll have a chance to show up while exploring the gungeon. You're just adding them to the item pool.
