I loved that it was so ground breaking it basically invented a new genre of fighting games, sure, most of them were still by capcom (Tatsunoko, SNK, Tekken, etc) but other companies weren't shy on it (Marvel Nemesis was pitched as Marvel vs EA, and people already brought up MK vs DC).

I would normally get heavily involved in a MVC hype thread, but I don't want to get dragged into an irreversible hype train.

I didn't like the prospect of of no X-men and Fantastic Four initially, however--more Guardians of the Galaxy, Inhumans, and MCU/Netflix characters could have a lot of potential.

Losing Doom will be hard to swallow though if it turns out that way.

It was awful in MvC1. It wouldn't shut anybody up because everybody that wants XYZ character wants to play the character, not have them hop on screen for a second, do a move and then leave.

They could do it like how KOF 2000 did it, when you designated a character as the striker it gave you the option to have the regular character or an associated non playable character cameo as your assist.
