I... don't think I'll like this one at all based on what I've seen in some of the previews. I get that they're trying to do something different and I do respect that, but I don't think it's the right direction and I don't think it's for me at all.
I mean, I finished Eternal on Nightmare and loved it, but far less than 2016 DOOM which was a lot more focused game with great level design, pacing and the only thing I don't like about it is that there's no NG+ and that you can't go through the game on the max difficulty fully upgraded like it's the first time. Eternal was all about neverending and intense butt clenching action and finishers to keep you going, but it was hella different from 2016 and I like it less cuz of how much it changed. The Dark Ages looks like they've gone from Earth to Pluto in terms of how much they changed and how much different the game is in comparison to Eternal even, let alone 2016. I just don't think that a bullet hell mixed with Serious Sam-like design along with open levels and awful dragon sections is the way to go here, it's just not DOOM, it's something completely different and I don't like it.
Not going to buy it day one for sure, maybe at some point when the price is right for me to just try it in a year from release or somehin'. Uh, just bring Quake back and I mean look at the second one as a starting point and go from there. Huge levels and open world simply have no bussiness being in DOOM or Quake games.
