Update on that nurse and doctor thing that was posted before
I don't know American law, but if she still can she should move forward with the lawsuit. They'll just can her later on for made up reasons. Not a trustworthy workplace.I didn't see the previous post about this. What happened prior to this, if I'm understanding correctly, is the doctor made disparaging remarks about Charlie Kirk's assassination and the nurse who reported it was punished for it initially. If so, even though it worked out in the end, this is one good thing that's coming out of this mess - too many people in positions of trust have felt absolutely free to be vile pos and, not only that, they were able to shut down and shut out any dissenting voices. I'm glad to see some change in this area.
Edit: Some more details in these articles:

NJ surgeon who ‘cheered’ Charlie Kirk’s murder resigns — as suspended nurse who called him out is reinstated
A New Jersey surgeon who allegedly “cheered” Charlie Kirk’s murder while at work has resigned — and the nurse suspended for calling him out has been reinstated, their hospital said Monday.nypost.com
Insane that she was ever punished and I hope she wins her lawsuit ie. gets a good amount in damages.
I can't help it, this is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time
I just wish Philip Seymour Hoffman was still alive to play the calm guy here in a film adaption
Yep sounds like some form of retaliation which is illegal. She should still seek some sort of settlement as well as look for employment elsewhere.I don't know American law, but if she still can she should move forward with the lawsuit. I'll still vote for the side that is best for US. I won't let fear stop me. I am just honest on this situation. I'll keep on praying for this country and for all of us.A lot of the scary talk you hear of "the other side is trying to kill us" is very much in line with drumming up voter bases for donations and locking in votes for the midterms. Just like social media, anger and scare tactics drive the best engagement numbers.
You and your own will be ok. Don't let this board and other social media tell you otherwise.
Not sure about the acceptance. Jesus said to the prostitute 'go and sin no more'. Not 'you do you'.It also helped that he was right - at its core, Christianity is about forgiveness and acceptance, the very principles Jesus gave his life for. Sometimes conservatives need to be reminded of that.
Disclaimer: former Christian.

The lawsuit states:
"The Human Resources department and administration was faced with two choices:
1) discipline the doctor who praised the murder of a Christian activist on the floor of the hospital—in front of patients and staff; or
2) take action against the Christian Nurse for challenging this.
Defendants chose to discriminate and retaliate against Plaintiff Lexi Kuenzle."
Where do we go from here? And I really mean that. How can someone, anyone, watch that video and the man's words, and not think for a second that perhaps other things they are hearing about Charlie, including """quotes""" he said that he didn't actually say might not actually be true, and not just not parrot them, but actually come against the hateful rhetoric against him and say "no, actually, that isn't correct"That was not the expedient thing to say in conservative circles, but he said it with conviction and surely influenced people on his own side to not resort to hate and exclusion.
We want free speech but not free from consequences. I think it is up to the individual employers what to do. And only in the university system should pressure be applied from the state.I agree that the line needs to be drawn better. Someone who just says something a bit gross or a joke about him or "he was awful anyway" or something doesn't need to be persecuted for saying dumb things. The efforts to bring consequences to people who cheered his murder should be narrowly targeted only at public and school officials, and only if they actually posted that he deserved what happened or something at that level, not if they just said they hate him.
It's very sad that it had to come to this for him to be better known, but killing him made his voice so loud that the whole world is listening now and finding out that the usual suspects have been lying about him calling him racist, fascist and whatever bullshit. Now all but the fully gone can see what a fantastic person he was. It was just that they couldn't defeat him in debate with their insanity so they had to silence him. There is one thing to be stupid, that's not a crime, but celebrating the death of such a person who was always respectful and patient towards everyone, even to utterly braindead childish people? Who was a true Christian husband and father? Who only wanted to help people find their way? The mask has come off of a lot of people and it's clear now that what is going on in the world is not about right and left but good versus evil.

Amen. Jesus is my Lord and Savior but I'm still work in progress hahaha. Not sure about the acceptance. Jesus said to the prostitute 'go and sin no more'. Not 'you do you'.

I know, I came to the realization of what I'd wrote ten minutes after posting. I guess I still can't wrap my head around just how messed up civilization has really become.Oh, I also knew trans people but that was 20 years ago. That was when you'd have transvestites, drag queens and transsexuals, all very distinct categories. Transsexuals had to go through a rigorous procedure before they'd get the go ahead for medicines and surgery. That weeded out the crazies.
Things have changed dramatically since then. Now different groups of people are all called transgender, Now doctors and psychologists have to accept people's self-diagnosis and go ahead with medicines and surgery even if they're dubious about those claims. The number of people, in particular young girls who call themselves transgender has sky-rocketed.
The uncomfortable fact is that a large number of these transgender teenagers have psychological/mental problems and they're not getting the right help. The opposite is happening. The folks in their social media bubbles are doing everything they can to tell them: "Yes, all the problems you're having is because you're living the wrong gender. Take hormones, get surgery, that will fix everything. Just do it."
What's happening is that there are now far too many kids being put on a medical path who shouldn't have gone that far, who could have come to grips with their sexual identity and become happy gays or lesbians. There are also kids who are just confused as hell and should be talking to psychiatrists instead. And then there are actual transsexual kids who'll now have to much more difficult lives because of the conservative blowback against the mayhem caused by the crazies, weirdos and perverts among today's transgendered folks. Twenty years or so ago there was widespread sympathy for transsexuals individuals, but the radicals in the trans movement (who are for the most part not trans at all) have destroyed all that good will in the past couple of years.
We want free speech but not free from consequences. I think it is up to the individual employers what to do. And only in the university system should pressure be applied from the state.
Mostly I want the state reduced.
Yep. And you know what? The people who do this and who are responsible for this general insanity that resulted in this tragedy are his killers too, it doesn't matter that they didn't shoot the bullet.Facts.
I mean no one is forcing to like Mr. Kirk or agree on all of his points but we should not celebrate his demise or jeer on it. If they can't help themselves and want to celebrate, well that's their right but they better not post it or people who sees it will retaliate.
Yep. And you know what? The people who do this and who are responsible for this general insanity that resulted in this tragedy are his killers too, it doesn't matter that they didn't shoot the bullet.
The CIA coup…er I mean Orange Revolution?Honest question.
Would what happen in Ukraine back in 2013-2014 be considered political violence?
I don't know that the "trans" part is how I'd describe it, but the shooter definitely seemed to have had help with various aspects of his assassination, debatable right now how much the other folks knew of his intent and/or willingness to actually execute it. SOME members of his close circle of friends/accomplices MIGHT call themselves trans (I'm not sure, other than the ones with surgical alteration, there is any real way to tell who is or isn't trans if they just dress differently and don't admit to any of it).Is all this stuff I'm hearing about a "trans terror cell" that's linked to the assassination real?

"My neck of the woods" is a totally common phrase in the South, but Charlie was from Chicago, so I reckon I can see why them fellas over yonder might not catch her drift.so, how did she just find out where he was from, did she ask someone? She also could have said he was from her hometown, or he's from where i am from etc. Just happens to choose neck?
my man this either has fake story from you or fake story from her written all over it.
The number of coincidences that has to line up for that to happen seems a bit ludicrous, plus the moral of the story is that the other person overreacted... i dunno, i call sus im hitting the button.
Also possible he knew if he showed up it would all be about him, not Charlie. He's a narcissist.
I am thinking put loud as well so no offense taken. I am no rightwinger. In fact I am more center left classic liberal. 20 years ago I could have never imagined being pushed toward the right yet here I am.
Now take everything you said but have it come from the mouth of a liberal and what kind of attitude would you have toward these ideas?
It's talk like this that gets people so scared and mad that they start to think and do horrible things because they believe the "other side" is out to get them. When policies start effecting peoples lives at fundamental levels, people get upset.
Whatever solution we find, it has to be a bipartisan solution
How would you accomplish this? If I were speaking in public and the authorities decided I was spouting an "ideology that weakens the fundamental values of the western civilization", what should they do to me? No more free speech? I get arrested and locked up? How well has the history of banning ideas worked out and what would make this attempt succeed?
So anyone who does any business with companies in China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, etc.? Who gets to decide what a foreign power's purpose is? And who gets to update the legal definition of "traitor" to allow the government to go after anyone they decide who is a traitor?
"Recovery plan" = forced re-education camps? Maybe this camp could have guards with arm bands, funny hats, and sticks? Who decides who's a "fundamentalist", and a fundamentalist what exactly? What would happen to these fundamentalists at these "recovery plan centers" exactly?
Conservatives have little to no presence in local elections, city councils, county councils, and school boards. They put up zero fight against decisions made at the micro level and focus all thier energy on the macro level. Those small decisions matter far more to society over time than any 'topic of the day.'So, where to start. first step: a thorough assessment of what is being taught at schools and universities. Have the Republicans done any of this in the time they are governing? I guess not.
I get your idea, but I don't think he would have cared for it. Also someone would inevitably make an AI versionI hope someone makes an app that collects all his responses to questions. Would definitively settle a lot of the criticism folks are throwing at him.
Kind of a "What Would CHarlie Say" kinda thing.
I think they tried in states like Texas, but it either went too far or sent the wrong message. Similar to the "book banning" in Florida. They got sued and lost last I heard, but some concerns were legitimateIt's all about education (in the broad sense of the word, not just the academic sphere)
After the dust settles and some severe restrictions are put in place (no terrorism support go unchecked. This should be common sense in a sane world), the smartest think-thank available must design a plan to counter the ideologies that are ruining us. As I mentioned in the other thread, the global Right have given up the ideological fight, focusing their programs 99% on Economy, with the naive (or dumb) belief that people just want to pay less taxes.
Outsiders like Trump have led a new wave of politicians who care about something more than Economy, but the regular Right wing suit still doesn't get the memo. Or didnt, till two days ago. That needs to change. Charlie Kirk was killed because he understood that, reason why he uuwas a threat.
So, where to start. first step: a thorough assessment of what is being taught at schools and universities. Have the Republicans done any of this in the time they are governing? I guess not.
I like how Kash Patel on Fox and Friends was like "we got him in 33 hours"
The only reason he was caught is because of his father. He could have been accross an international border if he really wanted to. Our FBI is incompetent. Don't fall for their self-aggrandizing.
That's the scary thing. This wasn't some insider operation to gain their confidence and suss out their political affiliations. These idiots ANNOUNCED IT THEMSELVES on social media. WHY? To what end?Wow, that's no small amount. And that's just those which felt comfortable making such statements.
seems legit... more horrific furrydom, he was so deep down the well of internet awfulness
