I didn't see the previous post about this. What happened prior to this, if I'm understanding correctly, is the doctor made disparaging remarks about Charlie Kirk's assassination and the nurse who reported it was punished for it initially. If so, even though it worked out in the end, this is one good thing that's coming out of this mess - too many people in positions of trust have felt absolutely free to be vile pos and, not only that, they were able to shut down and shut out any dissenting voices. I'm glad to see some change in this area.

I don't know American law, but if she still can she should move forward with the lawsuit. They'll just can her later on for made up reasons. Not a trustworthy workplace.

Personally, I don't find it funny at all - it's depressing.
These people live entirely in their own fantasy and on top of that, they carry this holier-than-thou attitude, convinced they're "right" and that everyone else should buy into their delusion. It's not about equality, it's about needing to feel superior, morally above you and me.

Yep sounds like some form of retaliation which is illegal. She should still seek some sort of settlement as well as look for employment elsewhere.
 
It's very sad that it had to come to this for him to be better known, but killing him made his voice so loud that the whole world is listening now and finding out that the usual suspects have been lying about him calling him racist, fascist and whatever bullshit. Now all but the fully gone can see what a fantastic person he was. It was just that they couldn't defeat him in debate with their insanity so they had to silence him. There is one thing to be stupid, that's not a crime, but celebrating the death of such a person who was always respectful and patient towards everyone, even to utterly braindead childish people? Who was a true Christian husband and father? Who only wanted to help people find their way? The mask has come off of a lot of people and it's clear now that what is going on in the world is not about right and left but good versus evil.

Surgeon asshole woke up totally confident the rules were one thing only to find out they were the exact opposite thing.

That said, surgeon is a pretty valuable skill, so maybe he can just work on fellow leftists or something.

She is moving forward with the lawsuit. From what I can tell, she was initially suspended (not sure if with pay or without) but after calling attention to the situation via social media and filing a lawsuit - the hospital reversed course on her suspension. Prior to that, though, a Union rep. told her she should start looking for another job. It was that bad. She was at risk of losing her livelihood due to challenging a doctor who spoke approvingly of a murder/death in front of a patient and hospital staff.

This is a summary of the lawsuit (very brief):

The lawsuit states:

"The Human Resources department and administration was faced with two choices:
1) discipline the doctor who praised the murder of a Christian activist on the floor of the hospital—in front of patients and staff; or

2) take action against the Christian Nurse for challenging this.

Defendants chose to discriminate and retaliate against Plaintiff Lexi Kuenzle."

The hospital is backpedaling, but I hope this will draw more attention to this issue (which is surely occurring in other institutions) and net the nurse appropriate damages for the hospital's sickening behavior.

Where do we go from here? And I really mean that. How can someone, anyone, watch that video and the man's words, and not think for a second that perhaps other things they are hearing about Charlie, including """quotes""" he said that he didn't actually say might not actually be true, and not just not parrot them, but actually come against the hateful rhetoric against him and say "no, actually, that isn't correct"

We want free speech but not free from consequences. I think it is up to the individual employers what to do. And only in the university system should pressure be applied from the state.

Mostly I want the state reduced.

Facts.

I mean no one is forcing to like Mr. Kirk or agree on all of his points but we should not celebrate his demise or jeer on it. If they can't help themselves and want to celebrate, well that's their right but they better not post it or people who sees it will retaliate.

Twenty years or so ago there was widespread sympathy for transsexuals individuals, but the radicals in the trans movement (who are for the most part not trans at all) have destroyed all that good will in the past couple of years.

I know, I came to the realization of what I'd wrote ten minutes after posting. I guess I still can't wrap my head around just how messed up civilization has really become.

Maybe not 'still cant'. More a case of, I don't really want to accept it.

Everyday really is a waking nightmare with all of this stuff.

Facts again.

Charlie loved everyone and there are multiple testimonies of all walks of life collaborating this. The only negative ones are people who do not know him and just believed the false accusations from his haters
 
They thought all was cool when they posted their parachuting terrorist memes and they thought it was still going well when they posted their Luigi memes. They had no idea their bullshit was gonna blow up in their face this time but it was way too close to home for way too many to be left alone.

I don't know that the "trans" part is how I'd describe it, but the shooter definitely seemed to have had help with various aspects of his assassination, debatable right now how much the other folks knew of his intent and/or willingness to actually execute it. SOME members of his close circle of friends/accomplices MIGHT call themselves trans (I'm not sure, other than the ones with surgical alteration, there is any real way to tell who is or isn't trans if they just dress differently and don't admit to any of it).

"My neck of the woods" is a totally common phrase in the South, but Charlie was from Chicago, so I reckon I can see why them fellas over yonder might not catch her drift.

I am thinking put loud as well so no offense taken. I am no rightwinger. In fact I am more center left classic liberal. 20 years ago I could have never imagined being pushed toward the right yet here I am.

I am just disgusted because the left has become everything they used to claim to fight against. They are so full of hate and they have more in common with the Chinese culture revolution than the live and let live style generation x liberalism. Many 90s liberals would be horrified if they traveled to the future and saw what happened.

I don't know what the solution is but more and more it seems like the only two choices are peaceful separation or violent fracturing. We are pretty much in a cold civil war at this point and something needs to be done to keep it from turning hot.

It's all about education (in the broad sense of the word, not just the academic sphere)

After the dust settles and some severe restrictions are put in place (no terrorism support go unchecked. This should be common sense in a sane world), the smartest think-thank available must design a plan to counter the ideologies that are ruining us. As I mentioned in the other thread, the global Right have given up the ideological fight, focusing their programs 99% on Economy, with the naive (or dumb) belief that people just want to pay less taxes.

Outsiders like Trump have led a new wave of politicians who care about something more than Economy, but the regular Right wing suit still doesn't get the memo. Or didnt, till two days ago. That needs to change. Charlie Kirk was killed because he understood that, reason why he was a threat.

So, where to start. first step: a thorough assessment of what is being taught at schools and universities. Have the Republicans done any of this in the time they are governing? I guess not.

Conservatives have little to no presence in local elections, city councils, county councils, and school boards. They put up zero fight against decisions made at the micro level and focus all thier energy on the macro level. Those small decisions matter far more to society over time than any 'topic of the day.'

I can understand pink haired techie gamer devs or artsy educators being crazy since it's the type of job with lots of narrative, personal politics and trying to influence kids. But for medical jobs, I thought an industry full of science brainers wouldnt stoop so low. It doesnt matter whose sitting in the seat needing health checks, a prescription, or surgery. It's one of those noble kinds of jobs where you set aside politics and help anyway who walks in the door.

I think they tried in states like Texas, but it either went too far or sent the wrong message. Similar to the "book banning" in Florida. They got sued and lost last I heard, but some concerns were legitimate

Modern politics, social media, and now fucking AI have doomed us all. Just saw a Kirk video of him talking about Israeli conspiracies with over 100k likes on Facebook and you can clearly see the video uses AI voice over and editing.

Also we need to stop this broad right vs left bullshit and stick to specifics and how we can solve these issues. We are heading to a senseless dark path.
