Atrocious, what are they thinking? If there's any game that deserves a proper remake, it's this one. Easily one of my favourite games of all time, it's amazing.

This might be the first remaster I'm actually interested into.
Couldn't get into the original.because it was too clunky compared to what I'm used to, but I know it's a great game.

The updated character models are hilarious. The "updated the graphics from 2000 to 2005" comment is so spot-on. They have that shiny, plastic action-figure look of Doom 3 and Far Cry 1.

This looks pretty awful, at least the original knows it's ugly. This remaster is trying to hide it behind artificial make up, but doing a real bad job at it.

always these old ass games getting reheated.. i already beat it when it came out!

how about you finish the fucking story of mankind divided and give us the final game in thwe trilogy instead you fkin bums!

im sorry, this is great for ppl didnt play it but wanna play it and everyone who wants to replay it but cmon..

The sad thing is that this will probably be used as a gauge of how popular the franchise is. When no one buys it, the execs won't think the reason was because they put out a shitty product. They'll think it's due to lack of interest in the series, and from there the likelihood of a true sequel gets slimmer.

If coming to switch 1/2 its day 1 for me. I love the first game. Of course I have it modded on my steam deck and pc but i would play it again on the switch. I know sounds weird but i prefer a lighter handheld system. Also the controls on pc for controller aren't great at all.

Now where the hell is Thief and Splinter cell collections?

what else would you do if not radial menus?
that's literally what I did when I played it on the Steam Deck, I had radial menus for the inventory and augs

which reminds me... Steam Input desperately needs to add support for custom touch buttons. that would be amazing for games that have an inventory bar on screen

You realize it's different teams. The people that do ports and remasters are not the people that make original games. They aren't putting Eidos Montreal on this, lol...

Also I played the original too when it came out and then again and again a few years ago. I will buy this day 1.
Why? So i can play it on the switch on my front porch or in bed. (no steam deck is too bulky and the controls suck for a lot of games).

I want to show support to so that thief and Splinter cell collections eventually get the treatment.

I don't get the hate, it looks just like a texture pack and up-res. All fine by me. If you don't like it don't buy, i will be there day 1, like i was for Tomb Raider, and Gothic ports.

My only critism now (as it's not released yet to judge) is why the hell isn't Invisible war on here too. Put a collection of the first 2 games and then a collection of human revolution/mankind for switch2/ps5. Easy money.

I was mega excited about this until i saw that it was Aspyr doing the port.

Now, I'm only a little excited and expecting it to be mediocre.

This is a game that deserved the NightDive treatment more than any other classic.

The thing about Aspyr is that they started as an Apple Macintosh publisher that would work with other external developers to port DOS and Windows (9X, XP and up) games to Apple Mac operating systems. So, apparently they have access to the Macintosh source codes for most of these remasters. Aspyr published the original six Core Tomb raiders to Apple Macintosh, they used the Mac source codes to make TR collections 1-3 and 4-6. Soul Reaver Remaster was built from their Mac port of the game. Same goes with Battlefront. Aspyr did publish the Mac port of Deus Ex back in 2000 for Mac. They will probably be building this version from the MacOS source code.

On one hand, their updated engines have been pretty good. I was impressed by how efficient the Tomb Raider remastered engine is. I could play it on a toaster using Proton on Linux Steam. It uses minimal battery on a Steamdeck. Though Battlefront had some issues. But it comes down to the art teams they are working with for the HD Remaster.

The reason why Aspy keeps landing all of these remasters is that they are sitting on old Mac ports that can be used as a basis for new remasters. That goes a long way. Most of these Mac source codes are derived form the Windows versions.
