You could go through forests in GoT unless it was so thick that they served as barriers. You could climb stuff as well, but not like Spider-man. You had to have a way up to climb.

Yeah I remember some of it. I finished the game but it was right when it came out so I don't remember all the details. I don't remember being as limited as the picture I quoted shows. That doesn't seem good.
 
5 Hours played and... man, I don't know. GoT is one of my TOP10 games ever and I wanted to like this more. The first impression is of course sublime. The prologue and intro are just superb. Production is top quality: music, dialog, graphics, cinematography, you name it. Everything just oozes style and class.

But the more I play it, the more I feel it's a step down from GoT. The map feels artificial and gamey where you are constantly restricted by no-go zones. All the nice vistas, forests and mountains are just beautiful backdrops and not playable space. The card system is completely useless and the supposedly more organic and less repetitive formula is just marketing speech. I've already bathed in 3 hot springs, sliced 3 bamboo stands and bowed to 5 shrines. And speaking of the shrines, that's how you gain skills in Yotei. Simply awful.

It's a nice game, looks and plays great, but it's definitely not a 10/10 I hoped for. Currently I feel more like 8/10 and slight dissappointment, but we'll see how it goes from here.

I have said positive things about it but of course you missed it. Some PS3 games look better than folks remember and I don't hate the game, you think I hate the game.

Yeah, at least you seem to be very interested of it, posting in every thread about it. Are you going to play it? Do you even own a PS5?

You see my first thoughts about the game few posts above.. not that positive (so it's not that I'm a SP or Sony fan boy), but I can certainly appreciate the things Sucker Punch made right. And the high notes are really high even though I'm a bit let down about some things. From you... all I've seen is the negatives.

You have seen mostly negatives. For months now my main interest in this game was mostly about graphics and how disappointing this game looked in all the footage - that was true (what else you can do with trailers?). At the same time I always said that I will play this game because I really like GoT on PS4 (you can find my posts from 2024).

And yes, I had all PS consoles and I have PS5 since 2021.

That picture is from the opening sequence I believe. Those opening parts are usually linear to start and then it opens up. I don't know for sure, but that's my guess.

And now the game is out and people confirm it looks amazing and posts almost photorealistic shots and you still continue shitting on it by posting tree textures from Uncharted? Why?

And I really don't mean to argue with you... but just why? :)

The game world is split into 5(?) zones and each of them are smallish, gated areas surrounded by no-go zones of forests, hills and mountains. Feels claustrophobic, gamey and artificial

Game is fucking awesome.. Ghost of tsushima was incredible and they made it feel even better. This is what you love to play in terms of a modern day game that looks and runs incredibly well.. Loving it what a year
 
This game may just have the best sound design ever in a videogame. Ever.

It is, with no hyperbole, absolutely perfect. The sound of wind rustling the trees and clothes, the clangs and swooshes and thunks of swords hitting swords and flesh, the footsteps echoing on wooden floors through temples and houses. The stunning ambient noise, the gorgeous authentic music.

It's so good. I can't think of a game that hit on this level for a very long time.

I will judge the graphics when I see it on my tv. Many people were telling that game looks amazing based on that shitty youtube videos as well.

Why? Why not. Best looking PS3 games (like GOW3) can still impress graphically in some aspects.

Also an OLED with HDR helps a lot with the visuals, especially in a game like this

I started playing at 6:30pm and I'm still playing it now (9:40pm). It's pretty rare for me to play a game for more than a couple of hours nowadays without needing a break. Plus I have man flu, so it's even more miraculous.

It's a stunning looking game. This has to be one of the best examples of PSSR on the Pro with the 60fps RT mode. The way the landscape constantly changes colour depending on how much sunlight filters through the dynamic clouds is fantastic.

I think it's a game you really need to play so that you can soak in the atmosphere and really appreciate how good it can look.
 
Are there people around who aren't into playing GOT and would rather play GOY?
I watched some people talking about it and thought it was interesting.
