Still trying to wrap my head around why this game is even remotely controversial outside of (arguably) being overhyped.

Come On What GIF by MOODMAN
A lot of people online are unhappy and use anything they can to rationalize that unhappiness, blaming it in something or someone. It's not a left vs right thing.

Some seem to be trying to force that though and it makes no sense.
Is it for this game, though? It's getting a lot of hate here, where people are definitely not extreme left. I think it started with wanting woke games to fail and now they just enjoy it. It was Marathon, but now very few care about it, and many have moved to hating on this one.

I don't know man. I'm going to let it go. Trying to think through this shit is damaging my brain (what's left of it).

Legit QoL criticism is not hating. Review bombing and spewing FUD nonstop is.

Though there are a variety of reasons for the mob attack on this one, the main I have noticed is having a korean dev with low karma among normies creating an open world that goes against every open world convention and with a superior tech. This is unacceptable for some fans of other IPs. I mean, Crimson Desert is everything Bethesda promised and failed to deliver with Starfield.

Also, FOMO is a doble-edged sword. You have guys falling for the hype while others become haters just because they don't want to think they are missing something great. The VR hate bandwagon was 100% this.

CCU is rapidly dropping, can't seem so sustain past 50% of its peak in the last 48 hours. Are people already bored with it?

It's already hit it's peak like most SP games do over their launch weekend. It's not going to go over 250k now, but if it has strong legs, it'll maintain a healthy CCU over the next few months.

after this patch and word of mouth i can totally see going over 250K next weekend, but that is the last window to get there.

I somewhat agree with this. There seems to be a concerted effort to say that this literally cannot be fun like Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom/RDR2/Elden Ring - despite having systems that are literally the same.

Difficult bosses/no story - Elden Ring == glazed non-stop, best game ever, this - utter trash why would I play it
Huge expansive world - RDR2 == brilliant, I feel like a cowboy, actual the slow movement is "intentional", this - utter trash, Ubisoft-like, who would play with these clunky controls etc
Zelda == brilliant how dare you criticise the big N, this oh the puzzles are difficult, the abyss is rubbish why would you want to skydive etc

Any/all of the other fandoms seem to be threatened by another game trying to do something similar - it's ok Crimson Desert existing doesn't take away anything from your precious From game.

The strangest FUD of all is the "mile wide but inch deep" line or "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle" - this is objectively false as anyone can see from clips of puzzles, combat, exploration, fishing minigame, camp management etc etc. You can complain that it's every system thrown together and they don't all combine well - legit critique, you can say the controls feel crap - subjective but anyone can see that the keybinds are suboptimal - but "deep as a puddle", really that's what you're going with?

My prediction was way off. Still decent numbers for a AA game.
"Decent numbers for a AA game", you guys are funny reaching this hard

The only single player AAA game that surpassed Crimson Desert in CCU this year is RE9. In 2025 the only triple AAA game that surpassed CD was Elden Ring DLC ( there is Silksong, KCD and WW but those are not AAA games )

now i ask you what is a good number for a AA game if even AAA cant push these numbers ?

I have talked about this before on here. There are a lot of console gamers that really dont understand how it works on Steam. They see the CCU for things like Elder Ring and Cyberpunk and think thats pretty normal for a big SP release, when in reality we get maybe 1 game even couple of years that do those kind of numbers, especially SP games.
