I'm guessing this is like missing a relay in swimming; automatic DQ...

But really GB already fell and got another chance, might have been a bit much to give them a pass here.

we didn't fall, it was a mechanical error. we were perfectly entitled to a rerun there. and it was a different event ffs.

Only medal table that matters, China/USA so bad.

Yeah I was looking for something like this too, thanks for posting it. If you made it, keep us updated with it. Cheers.

damn mongolians

Is it that hard to appreciate the skill of the athletes without immediately jumping on the doping bandwagon?

Well given China's history of institutional doping in a wide variety of international sports (not even to mention the rampant doping in cycling in general) people will always be skeptical.

Chris Boardman, Olympic gold medallist and BBC Sport summariser
"I was watching the change and Vicky was coming through pretty fast. They are not allowed to overtake. They're trying to make it fair for everyone, the rules are the rules."

Looks like that's it.

doesn't every country and every sports have some bad history with doping? germany does, russia does, the us does etc...

maybe not government approved..
innocent till proven guilty.

I feel like Isner came out of no where, I never remember him being nearly as good as he has been in the Olympics this year.

I think it's unfair how suspicious quite a majority of people call foul if China dominate anything even if you can't really dope to win said thing
I suppose I just question China given their history in certain things. It was impressive anyway.

Anyway it's real shame we were unfairly DQ'd in my opinion.

am I the only one who thinks Beach Volleyball is boring to watch?!

Indoor Volleyball is so much more fun and strategic IMO.

This table shows position by population or GDP, which is quite interesting.

But yeah, giant countries like the US and China are always going to win more because they make up about half the world's population between them, but on a per-person basis they're usually pretty poor. Australia is usually really impressive for such a small country.

he is a late bloomer only after college decided to enter the tour but since then has been decent all around. he should be better on grass than he has been so far. him doing well doesn't surprise me at all.

Man that's soured the whole day for me. After watching the Pendleton documentary and knowing this was the only event Jess Varnish is in.... I can't help but feel heartbroken for them both.

My personal belief is that EVERY cyclist is cheating, it is the nature of the sport.

Individual athletes from every country cheat but China, East Germany, and North Korea have been proven to do it institutionally.

I remember in the 90's when Chinese female swimmers came out of nowhere and started dominating. At the time they claimed it was because they ate caterpillar larvae. Turns out the were all doing steroids and HGH.

It's a combination of money, interest and population. They still weren't great in the past, and India is very very low despite a larger population than China.

Yeah, 4 years training all gone in a second. What other events is Victoria in?
