justin gatlin makes me sick

and yes, I'm rewatching all of the Track and Field coverage on NBC even though I watched online earlier.

Makes it worse that it was over someone like Tyson Gay, a thoroughly honourable and decent athlete who has had a difficult route just to get to the Olympics.

But as Michael Johnson said, the broze is irrelevant. It's all about Usain Bolt and the jamaicans.

Some medal trivia:

-Biggest country to never win any medal at Summer Olympics: Bangladesh (150 million people)

-Smallest country to win any medal at Summer Olympics: Tonga in 1996 (100.000 people, with more than 60% of them obese)

-First time medal-winners at London 2012: Guatemala, Cyprus

Michael Phelps has a lifetime Olympic medal count (22) that is one less than the medal count from the entire history of India and its billions of people (23).

BO posting some sports investment info.

yeah i know. that's why i said trophies and not medals.

But that doesn't have much relevance here. India really needs to step up it's primary and secondary education first and invest in sporting facilities that are open to everyone. Otherwise it won't ever compete on a serious level in the Olympics. The road they have taken, with focusing on a few select athletes and getting them ridiculous awards (5 kilo Gold for a gold medal, WTF?) may secure some medals, but it won't help in any way to level the ground for normal Indians to participate in sporting events.

that's why I was saying that it's ridiculous to compare Phelps 22 medals to India's 23 medals. India doesn't give a shit about the olympics like china does. They only care about cricket.

And hockey, right? I wonder if that will ever change, because cricket is not exactly a widely-followed sport around the globe. Its like American football in that regard, only that the US excels in other sports nonetheless.

Wait what, NBC didn't show the 100m live? Everything I hear about their coverage is a joke, and the articles on their website aren't any better.

No, they didn't. But they are now showing what is essentially girls falling on their faces, asses, backs, legs, etc. now in the vault. Now I understand NBC saying, "We will show every competitor." But they are not. They are just showing maximum lulz at this point.

(at least I think they are not showing everyone)

I hate the commentators, the coverage, and the lack of displaying information like scores for participants and such. I actually liked watching events on NBC.com where there weren't any commentators.

I think there's only 8-9 competitors for the Vault so everything we're seeing is pretty much all there. If we somehow see McKayla in like 2 people, then they definitely skipped some people.

Well I just flipped off this falling on vaults stuff onto espn to watch the MLS game and the first thing on the bottom line is the 100m results, so why even watch it now? Thanks NBC

Hahaha, are the program directors obsessed with young girls somehow? I think most viewers who follow would like to see Bolt competing live, even though he's no 'Merican!

Here in China their are showing the semifinals and final for the second time now, after broadcasting them live in the night.

The 37 year old did pretty damn good...pretty crazy considering how they keep talking about how a lot of these 16 year olds won't make it to the next one.

Why would anybody watch the Olympics on TV?

nbcolympics.com is a thing of beauty. I've been having a blast all week.

My connection in Manhattan is fuck-awful and I get 1080p most of the time.

I feel like the olympics on TV gives more coverage but I could be wrong. I've watched more olympics on nbc.com than I did on TV but I rewatched some events so I could see interviews... like Phelps and how he felt with his medals.

Oh, and yea... nbcolympics.com has been pretty bad itself. Constant buffering, poor quality, and freezing.

That site hadn't been perfect by any means, but I had been enjoying it up till today when it started flaking out in the leadup to the 100m final. It probably got overloaded by people who realized around 4:30pm that NBC really weren't going to show the biggest event of the Olympics live even though it was happening Sunday afternoon American time.

I'm surprised they showed that girl from Canada biffing so bad considering they cut the poor Russian girl who look like she broke her ankles and landed on her face in the Team floor routine. That's when the other Russian girls started crying. That, they showed.

because i dont have a cable subscription with CNBC or MSNBC which is required to stream on that site.
You don't know anybody who does? It's not like Netflix where you can only register on X number of machines with the same account.

Crazy, not my experience at all. Though there is a bug where the player goes to ads every 4 minutes, but a refresh fixes that.

nbcolympics.com has been pretty clear for me....but DAMN THOSE ENDLESS COMMERCIALS...FUCkING ANNOYING!!! >:(

right when they would go into detail after an event...boom, same commercial over and over again. Thank God for BBC Player.

I've used both nbcolympics.com and BBC Player during these games. Fuck NBC on cable/satellite. I hope someone else picks up the olympics rights for 2016

There's only 8 girls competing on the apparatus. They've shown everyone on it so far.

That still sucks to see. All of that press and coverage about her vault and the headlines guaranteeing the gold and then she lands on her butt. I wonder how many olympic athletes put the pressure on themselves... Like the Russian girls in the all around a few days ago or some of the swimmers.
