Hmmm. I need to go shopping to get some electricity, but I need to find a gap in the exciting stuff to minimise missing things. I suspect the best spot is between the end of the triathlon and the start of the afternoon velodrome session. About right?

With the 15s penalty, he'll be released roughly next to the other GB rider whose job was to be helpful during the bike phase. That could possibly be useful.

They are going so fast away that he will be released back into 3rd. He will need to push hard to catch up.

Already has a 9s lead over 4th.

Sounds good if you are not interested in the gymnastics.

you're wrong about the removals. Why remove what other people like just because you deem them not worthy? For example, there will be people that train and compete at world level in rhythmic gymnastics and they have a strong following and fans etc. Why deny them a world platform? Not like the gymnastics arena is being used for anything else.

I think if you want to add new sports, removal will be needed. Continuously adding new sports will make it harder and harder for a city to host the Olympics, and will further dilute the audience for niche sports. The only reason they are adding rugby and golf is because there are 2 empty slots after they've dropped baseball and softball, and these two sports won the vote.

Not that I agree with the ways he suggest events are removed. There's no point in removing individual events from sports like cycling and gymnastics since the venue is already built for that sport. Either drop a whole sport altogether in favor of another or keep things the way they are (or make minor adjustments like they do with cycling).

physical penalty is fucking stupid, he stays in there for 15s, but loses like 5-6s on top of that through acceleration/deceleration

How many Badminton matches have you watched? Badminton had some of the best matches of the Olympics (and I'm one of those who never watched it before), the men's final was amazing.

No idea, but I have watched enough to know it's not something I really enjoy. I will watch it if it's on and there's nothing else for me to watch. I watched it at the last olympics and again at this one. I won't deny that rallies can be fun and exciting, but that's like volleyball and tennis, which I also think are a little boring, though a little less boring than badminton IMHO.

I watched fencing for the first time ever and thought that was actually more fun and exciting than any badminton match I have ever watched.

The front 3 are so strong compared to the rest. You can see it in how they move their arms whilst running compared to the chasing pack.

Was just looking at the football rules posted earlier when I saw this one:

An indirect free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a goalkeeper, inside his own penalty area, commits any of the following four offences:

...
touches the ball again with his hands after he has released it from his possession and before it has touched another player
...
So basically, every time you see a keeper bouncing the ball to the ground (happens all the time), potential yellow and indirect free kick. Crazy.
