This is one of those rare cases where nothing they've shown in any of the trailers has looked particularly good or exciting. But I'm still sort of looking forward to it based on who is making it.

Glad I was wrong and this isn't getting pushed to 2026.

The bike and open world looking parts are interesting. Maybe they maintain the Metroid loop by blocking off sections of the world until you get the right upgrade to access them.

Worst case scenario, it's a Gears 5 situation and it is just empty space to drive through between the "real" levels.

I'm worried about how empty and wide some of those areas looked in the trailer, but I still have faith in Retro.

I don't really care about motorbiking through the land. If I want good exploration, we already have a Metroid Prime to look forward to. That's the whole point of the series lol. I don't need vast, open plains of nothingness. Maybe they're a bit more interesting than they seem here, but they didn't look particularly exciting.

Looked awful. Metroid should be about tight level design, not bland open spaces to ride a bike on.

What the fuck.
I'm hoping this trailer intentionally only showed the sprawling areas. In Metroid, I want to feel either suffocatingly claustrophobic, or utterly alone. If the large areas help me feel small and alone, I'm all for it.

I just hope we also get some tight, constrained level design too.

But hell, at least the fucking federation wasn't in this trailer.

Yeah I am hoping there aren't many bike segments. I wouldn't mind having that as a quick travel method, but slowly riding along in an open nothing space I am not so sure about.

Dude that shit looks so sweet. They changed it up. So TIRED of lazy fucking sequels. Thank you Nintendo for trying to iterate and change things up between games. Fuck! Sony take note. I don't want any more sequels with nothing new in them but more of the same, Death Stranding, Horizon, Ghosts of Yotai listen up.

It looks like it's got an open world design. You can see the forest and the snow biomes in the distance when Samus is riding around in the desert.

Is gonna be a fantastic game most likely

There are many Metroid fans that wouldn't mind a game that let's you explore more than just one main location or just one single all connected map.

There's nothing wrong with finding ways to expand the Metroid Universe/Lore through actual gameplay, (i.e. moving to several locations, of varying sizes, to explore) if it's done well.

So from fully restarting development from scratch and having Retro make the game, including pre-production, Metroid Prime 4 was in development from January 2019 until November 2025. Wow. That is a long time!

That's 7 full calendar years. Dang!
